Yes, Beagles do have a tendency to get plump. Even when fed right and walked. My Beagle is older now and can't walk too far. The only time in his life when he was thin was when I took him out on long jogs every now and again. But after a certain age, they develop arthritis and cant jog anymore. It happened to mine at age 11. They then pack on some lbs. Even if you walk them 30 minutes. But he's still going strong at 14, even after 2 knee surgeries on both hind legs. Still chuggin' along.

to all you people who are dissing the beagle eff you all cause beagles have weight issues! its natural even wen they are walked and not overfed i would know because my beagle is also over weight but we all still love him and he loves us and is happy so think before you go dissing our best friends who we love, you wouldnt want someone to do that to you because your dog is "diffrent"
@emilycouture100 amen! I understand where you're comin from. I have a beagle and the last time we weighed him he was about 45 pounds. Just cuz a dog is fat it doesn't mean he/she is unhealthy or lazy, it just means he/she is well loved :3 and i bet all these ppl posting negative comments are fat arses that sit at home and eat chips all day tryin to make themselves feel better by makin fun of someone else's loved part of the family.
@emilycouture100 A beagle that is properly exercised and fed will not be overweight. Beagles do have weight issues but their weight can still be kept healthy. My neighbour has a beagle that was overweight because they never walked him. We told them that if they didn’t start helping the dog lose weight soon we would call the RSPCA. My neighbours now walk their dog three times a day for 20 min he is in perfect shape.
