Like I said "I filmed it, sitting right on the stage, believe what you want, I'm not losing any sleep over it...". We were friends before they even headlined Gilman St., It was a great set:-).
I did film the show. Just remember 'Dookie' just came out and they just left Berkeley that day to go on tour to support it(who knew what was around the corner) and being friends with them, of course they let me tape it:-). Marty
Seem to remember a little trash talking about Sacto at this show. And a little warning out back afterwords. Green Day didn't play Sacto for many years after this.
it's amazing to see this as an East Bay guy who grew up near these guys...from raw punk here to polished intense rock with their new stuff which is classic also
i think it was just good timing, as you can see when mike starts singing alone, billie is singing into the mic and then he's like wtf and the one crew member is fiddle diddling around trying to fix it
knowledge sucks ass cause it sounds more like rhythm and blues and theyre supposed to be acting punkish here...on the other hand, going to pasalacqua is the better of the two, as it makes me think of the earliest Green Day before I was born...
I was never in a band, but I know a lot of people who were (and still are). Going back to your philosophy on bands, it's definately an enjoyment thing, because from what I've heard, you only get enough money from gigs to have a nice dinner for a night.
well the members tell it how it is, and people dont like their honesty. theyre happy to be famous and they rub it in peoples faces but yknow, theyre rock stars, they get paid for that kinda shit lol. its a love or hate situation i guess. im biased too cause theyre from my hometown of manchester, england.
if i was mike i would have just started singing the lead bit down my mic. like when oasis do it, when liams vocals go out, noel takes over until its sorted.
Do you have the rest of this show? That's me on the crowd at about 5:20 into the video.
I had to pay some kid (Mike Cunningham)I went to school with to drive me to that show because none of my friends liked Green Day and they couldn't be gone on a Tuesday night. They best part of the show was actually Tilt- the opening band.
what happen with billie´s micro was off at the end of going
ey the owner of the video there are more videos of that show cause i think is great to see them so close i apreciate more te show ... i hope there are tell if you upload
Green Day is, and always will be, my favorite band of all time. Good times, good times. I missed them on the Dookie tour because I was only 13 and couldn't go...such is life.
I would do anything to have been around to watch Green Day rise to fame. Going to Pasalacqua ans Knowledge are my two favourite songs from 1039/smoothed out slappy hours.
The athmosphere must have been incredidle.
Mike looks gorgeus here. The rest is history indeed....
sure i can , dookie came out in feb. 94 so most of the songs for dookie were already written, its not like they write all the songs for the record the day of recording it. for instatnce good riddance was writtin around when dookie came out but didn't come out till 97'.
p.s. i wasb't saying that it couldn't be in '93 i was saying it couldn't be on dookie tour (actually i have saw some performances of dookie songs before dookie came out just like you said) i just said it was not dookie tour =)

This was most certainly the first stop on the Dookie tour. I was horrified when I saw the ugly shirts they were selling. I still bought 2 of them.
Tilt was the only opening band. You can see some of their equipment in the background, and B.J. always had a Tilt sticker on his guitar.
It was a Tuesday night of my senior year in high school. 2/14/94
Green Day had not played the Cattle Club previously- though Jerry Perry had begged them to.
