cassius clay always ran and jabbed,,but the night he took the title away from leon spinks was bullshit,,,clay was allowed to jab jab and then grab little leon the entire night,,no warnings,no disqualification,,,,,leon was the linear champ he deserved all the advantages,,but the referee and the media were to busy sucking clays ==== to enforce the rules,,,,,its called excessive holding,,,,,,holding is only allowed to clear ones head,,not a game plan,,,again bullshit,,fuck ali
Johansson was warned many times and he still continued not fighting. Since it was a three round fight it is supposed to fight and not take time to rest like in a 8-10 rounder.
why not ko the ref wat right does he have to push you when your goin to your corner ? id ko him then say he must of fought i was a kid so i let him no i was a man
Not quite the fleeing around the ring I.d heard it was, but I can see why the referee disqualified him in some disgust. This was 1952. Flapping about was almost universally frowned upon.
This was basically a "rope a dope" strategy. Ingo always said he wanted to tire the man out, then go for the KO with "Tunder!." The ref proves he is totally sympathetc to the amateur game, where scoring is foremost, a knockout, including any strategy leading up to a KO is of secondary importance. Ingo would have silenced this moke faster than he put Patterson to sleep in their first meeting had this match at the Helsinki Olympics been a prize fight.

Ingemar Johansson said that he was not running from Sanders but attempting to tire him out.
"Big" Ed Sanders, a promising prospect at the time, died in the ring during his 9th pro fight. He was only 24 years old.
Johansson passed away earlier this year at 76 years of age.
