I've been looking around at many Russian circles videos now, one thing I've noticed is that none of them come in 1080p ,so i've come to believe any Russian circles played at 1080p will blow your fucking mind.
oh god they are playing tomorrow night at the Bowery - saw them live there a couple of years back - was amazing. too bad I have class. maybe i can make it to the show in time ---
Bands that are kinda similar to Russian Circles: Pelican, Red Sparrowes, Cloudkicker, Maybeshewill, If These Trees Could Talk, Barrows, Beware Of Safety, Oak (in order to find the band, search for Oak - I'm not dying) and Snipers!! (Exclamation marks are part of the name. To find band, search for Snipers - There Is An Adversary). These bands are great and a must-hear for people that want music somewhat similar to Russian Circles so if you are one of them, give them a listen and spread the word!
@Cystlib I was recently directed from another video to check out a band called ATOMIS. They are a new band and I could only find one song by them, but they are seriously rad. I love finding new bands before they have "exploded" and everyone knows about them. Thanks for your suggestions! In the meantime check out my "new band of the week" ATOMIS: /watch?v=OS2FsSb5_ds Note: they have a free download link in the description box!
@Cystlib Thank you so much. I've been trying to find a band that I'm actually keen on listening to. I just came across Russian Circles in a BLUNT Magazine and tada! I've fallen in love. Thanks for the other recommendations too :)
@trigger696 Yes I know, but youtube wouldn't allow me to write longer comments. :P There are a few more bands I didn't listed such as Omega Massif, Meniscus, And So I Watch You From Afar, Kokomo and a few I've forgotten the name of :P
@Cystlib One of the coolest bands I just recently came across is a band called ATOMIS, If I had to call them something I would say Post rock/metal/experimental/atmospheric...I guess! haha. Anyways wicked band out of Canada. Definitely check them out here: /watch?v=OS2FsSb5_ds Note: they have a free download in the description box. I love finding new bands, if anyone has any suggestions please share with a reply to this comment!
@opiiatee Your welcome, I'm glad you like it. The artist behind Cloudkicker is Ben Sharp, if you search for "BM Sharp" on youtube you'll get more music made by him.
@punkmusicmetal I know, they're good. But I didn't include them because they don't really sound like Russian Circles. They sound more like Explosions in the Sky meets Battles or GIRAFFES? GIRAFFES!
@Cystlib sorry.... Cloudkicker? I can definetly understand all the rest and good on you for putting them in the list but how can you compare Russian Circles to Cloudkicker?
@obar111 Russian Circles and Cloudkicker both hav their similarities and differnces. While CK sure isnt the same as RC, they both hav long, instrumental, sprawling music, leaning towards postmetal and postrock, but stil having their own sound. While CK has a more math-rock/djent sound, and the music is more fast-paced, I still think it is the kind of music most RC-fans will like. However, both new CK as new RC differ quite much, at least a lot more than when u wouldve compard their oldr material
If you don't like the song then don't listen to it. You don't have to say the song sucks or the synchronization is off because other people like the song the way it is
people complain about the synchronization. wtf it sounds great!! there isn't need of a fucking singer!!! good song good video!!!! if you do not like you'd better go listen to pop shit!!!
@CaptKirby18 God you're stupid. Why are you even listening to this kind of music when you clearly have no idea what it's about. It's Post Rock, it's about weird rhythms, unless you've listened to a ton of it, or listened to the songs over and over again it will sound weird. Go back to listening to J-pop.
@timdavies90 lol get your head out of your ass, that type of condescending, pejorative based response that assumes your taste is better than everyone's, and also that they must not "get" the thing that it is that you like, is so fucking shoddily elitist that it is painful to see idiots like you; anyway, I like a lot of metal, so I naturally prefer "stoner rock" to post rock, and except Lift Your Skinny Antennae all of it is awful, A Silver Mount Zion, Swans, Dirty Three, et cetera
@timdavies90 but I really want to know...was j-pop because I happen to have cartoons on my profile? grow the fuck up if so, I hope for your sake it was a randomly mindless insult not mindfully mindless insult
@3van1993 I am not talking about tempo changes, from the first second nothing about the band sticks together...if "what a band is all about" is not making musical sense, that is fine, I will enjoy music that actually has a coherent sound (no matter how sprawling that is) in the meantime
@cvela20032003 How the fuck am I offended by this? I was stating that the "the number of people that disliked this are somehow related to the name of the video" comments are fucking overdone; they're on every fucking vid and people actually think they're clever?! Get the fuck over yourself, dude. Try to understand what's being said before responding. Thanks.
Really hating the debates over whether or not vocals are "good" for a band.
They're good for some, not so much for others. Certain songs I just can't imagine without vocals, and certain songs I would prefer vocals left out. Sometimes it fits, sometimes it doesn't.
On a side note, the riff around 3:21 sounds strikingly similar to a riff in "Capillarian Crest" by Mastodon.
@davethehostage trouble is 'death rides a horse' was one of the tracks released on RC's debut self titled EP back in 2005... 1 year before Mastodon's Capillarian Crest. I noticed the similarities as well... and not just at 3:21.
@davethehostage NP, I realise you didnt suggest that anyone copied anyone else, but the similarity in percussion and guitar riffs at certain stages in the songs is striking and it is noteworthy... if anything it leaves me a little dissapointed in Mastodon!
@nalafy12 Which one of my comments did you respond to and from how long ago was that particular comment? I haven't said anything on this video in a while.
