@thelegofan97 The lions are just punishing him I think. Also, the hyena plays dead or shows submission so the lions leave him alone. If he tried to fight back (harder) they probably would have killed him.

@powerman5000ca Yout don't give hyenas enough credit. They are far more capable of outsmarting a lion than people think. In fact, there are far more hyenas than lions, but they are faced with a problem: Male lions. No single hyena can take them down and they are way more aggressive. Luckily they clearly aren't very smart, or this one isn't...

@powerman5000ca one other thing: hyenas have shown that they have great problem-solving especially in teamwork. scientists gave a pair of hyenas a test similar to tests given to chimpanzees, the top brains besides us, and the first pair (there were 3 pairs) solved it within 2 minutes without training where chimps needed training to succeed... WITHOUT VOCALIZING. Only a few glares and looks and they pulled on a rope in unison that dropped down food :)
