This song was written by George Jones, and he recorded it very early in his career with the title "Let Him Know". The melody is the same but some of the lyrics have changed. He later recorded his own version of "Forgive me Now" with the same lyrics that Faron is using here. George sure wrote a lot of songs, he's better known as a singer but he's a great songwriter too.
I think I read somewhere that Faron's earliest influence was Carl Smith. You can see that in the type of songs he was writing and recording like Goin Steady and I can't wait.
Just found out Faron.Been listening to him all week. Then found out today is his birthday. Great sound and style. Not suprised he is a February baby. Happy Birthday Faron Young.
Good singer never heard of him tell my girlfriends grandpa told me about him. They served in korea together he has letters they wrote after the war. How cool.
I agree, but don't forget Ray Price. He had good songs, but his voice was not as good as Faron's or Jim's. I can't believe someone posted my favorite Jim Reeves song I never thought I'd hear again, "Then I'll stop loving you."
In my opinion I'll say that Faron Young is probably the best male country singer of all time as well as the most handsome. This is my *opinion* so please no angry responses!
I agree although I think Faron looked up to Hank. You can tell from Faron's early songs he has that Hank Williams influence in his voice. He kind of mellows it out as he goes along to that wonderful voice of his own. But to me early Faron sounds allot like Hank. They both are in my opinion the best singers country music has had.
I often see postings comparing Farron Young with Hank Sr. I don't see it. They are both great and have their own sound and style, they were friends though.
Lots of singers mimic Hank Sr when first starting out. Faron fine tuned his voice, to his own style. There are different versions of some of his songs.
Yep. Him or Lefty. Ray Price seemed to float back & forth between them. Not to mention that many also added George Morgan's crooning style to their sound.
As far as I know his son Robyn is the only one who performs, although he also has a 'day job'. His oldest son passed away about a year and a half ago. I don't know what the other 2 do.
Faron is still the best after all these years. There has never been another artist who comes anywhere close to him. He stands head and shoulders above everyone else.
just love this music thanks so much for putting it here

There's an awesome new book out about Faron's life, called The Faron Young Story Live Fast Love Hard. You can get it on ebay.

It's a shame he committed suicide many years ago, because of many personal problems. He was one of my favorites.
I had an LP of him doing a memorial of Jim Reeves songs. When I moved, I lost it.

I believe "Faron Young Sings The Best Of Jim Reeves" is available on Amazon. It is a great record. I still have the one I bought 'way back when'.

Faron fresh out of the
air Force. At that time he didn't know how to mess up a song. I loved his early songs.

Faron Young is a good looking man, did he have a family or children or something?
sabrooow 3 years ago
sabrooow, he was married to Hilda Macon in 1954 and divorced in 1986. They had 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl.

So he must have not been a lonely man. Do you know if any of his children performs?
