  • The best program to this very day that Hugh Hefner ever had on TV with Playboy.

Not like the reality crap shows which was just cancelled. I hate reality shows from Day 1. To hell with them. Bring back the Midnight Special,Ed Sullivan Show,Etc type programs. And no depressing music crap on them either.

  • Tina And The Ikeettes Were Right On Time With Ike And The Band! From Start 2 Finish! Awesome They Totally Blew The Audience Away! A+

  • whoa! shes way too thin here, somethings wrong.

  • @geelew2lo No problem, glad you enjoyed the video! I agree, one hell of a performance it is!

  • @geelew2lo you just summarized all my thoughts booom shackalacka ......shoooooom

  • @2dasimmons - Here here... It's important to remember that Art follows and mimics a culture. It never lights the way, it follows the light. Our culture is shallow and robotic and banal and so therefore our popular artists are too. Not to say there aren't great things going on in music right now, but few that are ever heard from in a commercial way. When the culture changes, the music will too.

  • damn, please take me back there today!

  • People in general looked more healthier and thinner.

  • Isn't this tune from Sly and the Family Stone. Great interpretation.

  • if ike didn't do anything else right, he gave tina a the priceless gift of performance. which she still carries with her to this very day!

  • look at Hugh Heffner jammin' @ 2:53.Swag bro Swag hahaha

  • one of the best videos on youtube. period.

  • The band sucks!

  • I'm in love with the Visuals of this Video.

  • Their performance of "Come Together" on this clip is amazing. It's so close to their recorded version. I love when artists do that.

  • Anyone know what the dance intro song is called?? Is it an actual song or did they just make it up lol

  • She could sing her ass off. Lady Wilson pickett.

  • Tina and The Ikettes have been one Huge Muthah influence on my life and nothing today compares, end of story.

  • OH MY MOTHER F**KING GOD. THIS IS SOOOO AWESOME, I COULD EXPLODE!!

  • The most beautiful woman who ever appeared on a stage.. Claudia, I always loved you, always will.

  • maravilhosa!

  • Flawless.

  • Is the Ikette on the right at 5:02 Claudia Lennear?

  • The girl @ 4:30 is the same expression I have when I watch Tina

  • Nice n' rough. Ike and Tina at their best. Thanks for posting this!

  • @20906md I am asking the same thing. Looks like him to me LOL

  • GO YAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL GGGOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • This is one musical group on my top list of performances I would like to have seen live in person, but alas, I was born in 1973.

    God what a beautiful thing.

I guess judging by other comments, others have the same sentiment. Cool!

Thanks for posting this, and does anyone know if these will be on DVD?

  • Just absolutely amazing! My idol!!!!

  • Wow, one side of her face does look really swollen. Amazing performance.

  • 5:22 - Jessie Jackson?

  • Tina is clearly bruised. Ike, may you rot in Hell.

  • Comment removed

  • thank u i have been tryin to find this soo dam long thiz iz good!

  • this is just fierce! and I WANNA have her dress SO badly!

  • Ike may have been a drug addict A-Hole but I do enjoy listening to the music that he and Tina did together more than what she recorded later.

  • @DawnWeatherby - I'm the same way. Damn, Ike is one of the better rhythm guitarists of the 20th century, and arguably penned and recorded the first rock and roll song (Rocket 88). He's fallen into disrepute because of the allegations of abuse with Tina, but let some of those who judge him try being born black in Mississippi in the 1930s. If you were a real musician, odds are you were a preacher and a pimp as well. Talk is cheap . . . .

  • @Themushroomhouse1 she look better at 50 on the whats love tour

  • I had to watch this performance again. It's just thrilling and makes you want to move. The music flows through Tina's body and her VOICE is emotion itself. Herein lies the difference between her singing "Proud Mary" and Beyonce's tribute to her @ Kennedy Center awards show. Tina IS the Proud Mary and li'l Beyonce just a paler robotic copy. Sad. But that's the way it is w/young musicians/performer today: all style, little to no substance. But that will ultimately change... giddy w/anticipation.

  • their biters

  • That's unfair painting all the young performers with a brush like that. I'm sure OLD people said the same thing about Tina and Motown acts back in the day.

  • @thoomolong maybe, but i know one thing for sure, i ain't gonna listen to justin bieber or britney spears when i'm 60. it ain't good music now, and it ain't gonna get better with the years

  • @2dasimmons And you can tell Tina's very hoarse during this performance but she still gave it her all! You just don't find that kind of commitment today.

  • @2dasimmons awe i thought beyonce did a good job. i mean other than janelle monae. what other artist that is current today could have done it besides B? im sure there are plenty out there that go unnoticed that can but again im looking for current and known. maybe fantasia, j-hud? i havnt seen jhud move around much on stage live so im not sure about her.

  • @kennedy220 hmmm Fantasia is alright but Beyonce is the epitome of a modern day Tina Turner minus the hardships she endured with Ike!!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 i mos def agree with you

  • @kennedy220 yeah her voice may be alittle bit on the Aretha/Barbera Striesand side of the spectrum as far as her vocals are concerned but everything else is Tina all the way LoL

  • @Beyoncefan1000 LMFAO Fantasia has the voice of that is more round soulful and gritty like Tina Turner now when it comes to Beyonce it would be moves I guess....some Beyonce fans get on my nerves always thinking she owes everything in music like there isn't better but I love beyonce got all cds and will be anticipating for her new single coming soon and will buy the album in June but give other artist cred Beyonce maybe the only female out now that is good but there or mover underrated

  • @eugenemusictv Have you been to her concerts? because thats where she really gets into her music and and her vocals are out of this world seriously and im not exaggerating either!! alot of times it gets on my nerves the way some people be thinking that only Jhud is the best thing since curly fries but Beyonce is truly a better singer than her and honestly Tasia is my other homegirl because both her and Beyonce have that backwoods church sound in their vocals to me!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 jHud came along way and yes I seen all bee concert im saying when it comes to dances she's more of Tina Turner but fanny has more of a tina turner voice and Bee vocals style reminds me more of Aretha funny I say that cause most would say JHud is but she's more of a Patti to me Aretha Franklin to me is the greatest singer and alot of ppl talk down on her but you have 2 watch her stuff at her prime vocally in the 70s than you'll see what im talking bout most Bee runs came from her

  • @Beyoncefan1000 and one thing Beyonce is a better singer but not a better vocalist it's a different like Mary J. Blige she's a better vocalist but not that good of a singer same with Billie Holiday and I think alot of ppl don't understand a vocalist but it's really rare you actually find a good singer and vocalist like Aretha or Mahalia Jackson or someone like that and alot of ppl don't understand what's the differences between the two

  • @eugenemusictv when I mentioned the word "singer" i meant "vocalist"!!!! Bey aint nobody to be fucked with as far as the voclas are concerened!!! dont let the light fair skin fool you!!

  • @Beyoncefan1000 LMFAO...this has nothing to do with skin color shade black I have all of Beyonce records since 97 DC first release up until I Am...Sasha Fierce im a fan of beyonce and yes she is a vocalist but she's a better singer technically anyone who knows music will tell you that in the differnce I find it funny that I actually compliment her but you think im talking down her but I guess it's because im a fan and not a STAN I don't like everything my fav artist do that's just insane

  • @2dasimmons Beyonce did an awesome tribute to Ms.Turner you idiot!!!! It was a freakin tribute and you think that bey was trying to still Tinas spotlight??? you are retarded lol Tina Turner even said that Beyonce's tribute was the best tribute ever done for her!!!

  • i thought beatles made this they musta did a remake

  • 'Come Together' was made and performed by The Beatles, - if that's what you were referring to.

  • Did anyone else notice this was an abbreviated rendition of "Proud Mary"?

  • Ike and Tina did Proud Mary on stage a while before they recorded it. My guess is they had not worked out the "nice and easy, nice and rough" rendition yet, which made the cover so unique and a huge hit.

  • There's a high spirit and musicality in these pre-'70s performances that today's talent and technology can't replace/duplicate. Thanks so much for the post!

  • yeah...fuck beyonce...hate her with a passion...tina at her peak by that time was fucking gold.....witness her shows with ike on those stones gigs back in 69'....fuck rianna..fuck all of em.....tina you rock babe :)

  • Ike is (always) behind Tina in the light colored suit, playing the lead guitar.

  • Also, back in the day, you not only had them movin' and groovin' (steppin') on stage; they had what they called a 'revue' e.g. Motown Revue, where there were 2-4 groups performing back-to-back entertainment. It was a BLAST!!! That's not even including the talent shows which cost almost little or nothing to see where many of them got their start. American Idol had nothing on them performance wise and couldn't even touch them today, if they tried.

  • Where's Ike?

  • drugs era

  • she seems to be favoring one side of her mouth here - even rubs her cheek at 4:55...uh oh. Nevertheless, what a performance - vocal and dancing!

  • yeah i am sure she was recovering......1968 was the year Tina tried to commit suicide......this was filmed probably not that much later in 69

  • This chick put the hip in hippie, Rock On Tina Baby.

  • Tina's "Come Together" was better than The Beatles.

  • yea tina´s version was mutch better!!

  • Love it.

I wish I was there to see this.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • This is when shows were SHOWS! Now they just get on stage and stand in one place and sing & still dont sound as good. I would give up my youth to be around to experience real shows like this right here.

When I say music these days is disappointing, I mean compared to this kind of music and these kinds of performances.

  • come on modern performers aren't that bad - Beyonce for instance knows how to put on a great show in my opinion

  • Not saying that she has a bad show... It just not this. Not to mention, thats only one person. Back in the day, damn near every show you went to was bangin like this. Majority of the shows now have somebody standing in one place singing like 2 songs and you paid like 50+ bucks for it. Bey is one of the couple of people who have a show. Overall, the artists have gottten a little lazy when comes to live shows. Hell, tina's modern day shows are better than the new artists shows.

  • Wearing wigs for black women in the 60's was very common. Tina said in her book she liked the action the movement long hair added to stage show, and if you watch Tina and the girls they are often tossing the long hair for added effect.

  • I was a teenager in St. Louis the same time as Tina and well remember the rise of Ike and Tina at the Club Imperial and its empressario George Edick, for whom I babysat at one point. The whole Ike and Tina concept evolved steadily from hard work, discipline, creativity and brights. Tina was always a serious artist, focused and ambitious. She always dressed beautifully. Look closely and you'll she has basically the same face as today, a true classic beauty.

  • Love Love Love!

  • 40 years ago! Truly amazing dance routine, hair, fashions, look and energy! This is AWESOME!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow i know every single routine/my family thinks im crazy but the moves were so unique for these days!

  • I know the WHOLE DANCE>>I KNOW EVERY IKE AND TINA DANCE ROUTINE>>hahaha

  • Me too!! :)

  • i have friends who have been to Zeppelin concerts in the 70s, seen the Beatles, seen every great band under the sun - but when I ask them what the best concert they ever went to was, it's Tina Turner, hands down - this video gives me a glimpse into the powerful performance they are talking about. i can see it now. i'm beginning to understand the whole You Have To See Tina Live thing everyone's been talking about.

  • wow what a performance!!!!

  • Tina wore that dress in her act for at least two years and then she wore a replica of it in the early 80's

  • Same dress worn in the 80's / she has kept all original costumes in storage. Some were taken out of storage and delivered to the set of Whats Love Got To Do With It by Tina herself including this dress which did not fit Angela Bassett. Tina's torso is much longer than Angela's so therefore a replica was made at that time for that purpose only.

  • @klbuys...The Ikettes are Esther, Claudia and Pat Powdrill. I do think this is the earliest taped performance of Proud Mary. Ike and Tina put the song in their show that year after being inspired by The Checkmates version which also came out that year. Ironically, it was produced by Phil Spector.

  • Is this her earliest known performance of 'Proud Mary'? (it's a very different arrangement than the one we've usually seen Tina perform in concert)

  • GREAT CLIP....

who are these Ikettes? I'm thinking Claudia Lennear, Vera Hamilton, and Esther Jones.....any one confirm?

  • I so love this video!

  • Agreed that Tina looks like she took a recent punch in the face here. What a sad, sad life she had and all the more power to her now! Go straight to hell, Ike!

  • Technically the performance is great and the band is great but I notice in this clip that Tina rarely smiles. So unlike her as she enters a stage and performs not to flash that dazzling Tina smile. It seems to take her heart into it.

  • tina rarely smiles here because no matter how you view it, at the end of the day ....IT'S WORK. it isn't *TINA* time, it's work ....

    and how are you doing?

  • Doing fine thanks! And you're right- I think at times Tina's personal life was too much and it was all she could do to go thru the motions. She gives a helluva performance here don't get me wrong- but where is that big Tina smile she ususally flashes at an audience as she enters a stage and performs? Maybe she's in pain...

  • or maybe she's just bored? tina has certainly blossomed into a world class performer ... BUT ... back in the old days she was just Ike's wilder beast. it didn't look she had a lot of fun. she did her routine and went home.

  • Tina's mouth and face were swollen in this particular clip. It's very noticeable.

  • Yea I have to agree its really noticeable. You can see a bruise starting to form in the same spot on the left.

  • That is really bitchin'!!! That was a freash and very tight performance that really gave off some GREAT vibes!!

  • i cant believe how cool this is.... i pee'd in my pants a little bit!!

  • Can you just imagine being a part of that audience..its different than an open area stadium. The sound of the band is more intense because they are enclosed. With Tina blowing away on vocals and dancing with the Ikettes at the same time. I tell you..It doesnt get any better than this.
