  • Fucking magnets...

  • HOPKIN GREEN FROG!

  • Im all for animal rights but I wont even bother here, this kicks ass

  • That's sweet!

  • what the fu*k

  • i was watching show about magnets... this is in some secret labaratory and frog is in the most powerfful maget

  • @Torca123 Most powerful magnet? This one might be strong (about 10 Tesla), but there are far more powerful magnets.

The laboratory isn't secret either, this was filmed in Nijmegen High Field Magnet Laboratory in the Netherlands. One of the researchers that conducted this experiment was Andre Geim, who is known for his 2010 Nobel prize in physics for his work on graphene.

  • So... Frogs are diamagnetic?

  • @TheChefMon Lol... water is ;-)

  • who took my from I find my frog

  • maybe they can use that in controlling G-force.

  • The frog is freaking the fuck out

  • How does the frog feel? I think he has nausea ... very bad nausea .. Because magnetic fields that strong even cause nausea to human beings.

  • Why does the frog looks so clear while the background is all jack up O3O

  • @rabbitgirl939 Because the frog is in a tube. You're seeing the object being focused on, while the background and foreground are out of the frame of focus.

  • mine~keywords levitating plant

  • guess thats 16T electromagnet....

  • They can afford a 10T electromagnet, but their video camera is worse than the one on my phone.

  • the frog contains diamagnetic materials and the magnet repells the frog as a result

  • WHAT THE FAAHKK

  • Now I want to see H.A.M.S ter Tisha levitating!!!!!

  • He just won the real nobel prize as well

  • This was real, and the original experiment won the Ig-Nobel prize for pointless discoveries :).

  • Levitate a car please?

  • Fay and gake

  • @xCanTGeTRighT You've clearly never taken chemistry, nor any science.

  • Why the hell don't i get to this this sort of thing?

  • @nickrohn93

Maybe because instead of teaching physics in your country, they teach crap from the bible.

  • @Nilguiri Sadly that may be a contributing factor. I would like to also touch on the fact we have a growing secularist motion though :p

  • OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING. WHERE IS THE GROUND.

  • i wish i was diamagnetic, wait....i am XD

  • I half expected a Crazy Frog tune.

  • The frog would say: FEELS GOOD MAN !!!

  • IM FLYINGAWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • Droppin around in a fancy car

  • @Qlizzie just every magnet has a stronger magnetic field than the earth even fridge magnets have stronger field the earths is just massive thats it.

  • the frog is like "WOOOOO I AM SUPERMMMAAANN!!"

  • i want one

  • i dont understand.

  • hay look it's kanye west

  • Imagine if it worked on humans! :D

  • @FoodPunch I think it can work on humans

  • @driftjunk The possibility of human levitation has suddenly materialized and become real! YAY!

  • @driftjunk Yes, it could, but the energy requirements would be truly massive.

  • what... the... FROG?!

  • fake the frog was just a add on so its a fail

  • @martinaromero1 Nope, its real, it was in a documente

  • I AM MAGNETO, MASTER OF MAGNET!

  • frog is like WTF is happening to me o.O

  • you forgot to put a disclaimer saying no animals were harmed in this video. that frog must have had a lot of fun.

  • frog gets more tahn he bargains for

  • ...most confused frog ever.

  • great now they can fly D:

  • @richardfry19 lets just hope they dont do this with pigs or ill owe my mate $1000

  • What is with people saying "will it blend", every video i have watched has someone saying but will it blend and they all have atleast 10+ thumbs up. Lol wtf!.

What does will it blend even mean? =/ .. I don't get it.

If I threw it in a blender and turned it on.. it would blend.

  • @hazardz04 Bro it means you havent checked out the Blendtec meme.

  • @hazardz04 - I dont know it youve ever seen the is it a good idea to microwave ..... series. Same thing but they but it in a blender instead. Its just another stupid youtube gimick.

  • what the shit

  • Luky bastered

  • @wdog450 Will what blend? The electromagnetic field?

  • @Noblyuntruthful watch?v=ebQy8QDWjkE

  • @wdog450

Luky Bastered??? hahha. OK,I'll buy it.

  • @wdog450 Lucky Bastard, I think you mean.

  • srsly, 15 people need to try and laugh atleast once

  • Oh my god...KILL IT!

  • lol forced to ingest

  • did the frog injest or was forced to ingest a diamagnetic material?

  • @MrEricsguitar yes, it's called "water" Doh!

  • dam you lucky frog!

  • FUTURE NEWS>>> in other news people will be floating with diamagnetism

  • @kbop451 gonna need REALY powerful magnets for that

  • This reminds me of the part in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the guy is in the escape pod and he's spinning around.............................these guys must have been on acid to have come up with this.

  • Damn magnets, you scary

  • DA FUCK DID THAT BTICH PUT IN THESE WEINERS

  • dude magnets how do they work?

  • fuckin magnets...

  • Where is its other arm?

  • hahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahhhahahahaha i fucking loled

  • pffft screw gravity ]:(

  • amazing

  • LOL

  • Frog: hey guys i just levitated

his frog mates: sure you did and iv been to the moon

  • frog "Duuude I am never takin shrooms again"

  • WHAT HAS SCIENCE DOONE!!!!1

  • Poor frog looks scared.

  • @IIEdeNII Where are Gordon Freeman when we need him?

  • @Emoll2 morgan freeman...?

  • @tommyv331992 no, Gordon Freeman, the guy from Half Life

  • All they did was stick a magnet up a frogs arse and have another one to levitate. It's easy when u know how lololololololol

  • @kierantm1 There was nothing placed inside the frog. They just generated an extremely strong magnetic field (about 200x as strong as the earth's), and that was the result.

  • It may be levitating, but I'm sure it's dead. 10 Tesla is 2 to 3 times stronger than an MRI machine.

  • @Nomoreidsleft It was documented to have survived the experiment.

  • @Nomoreidsleft

Two to three times stronger than an MRI machine? Why should that be lethal? After all, if magnetism was that dangerous, they would have to think twice about using MRI on people. Also, frogs don't usually have fillings in their teeth.

  • @quadibloc Ok boys! Looks like we got ourselves a volunteer!

  • @Nomoreidsleft it´s not dead. Easy to see.

  • THE FROG KNOWS.

  • @IIEdeNII Don't you mean it was a frogaclysm?

  • Frog: "Weeeeeeeeeeeee!"

  • Like if you notice the handicapped frog

  • AND WHY THE FUCK YOUR FROG HAVE ONLY 3 LEGS .......

  • @sdcorfu A French guy did this video and got hungry

  • ha stupid n00b frog! i use my zero point gravity gun to make it float.

  • this frog is a god amongst men.

  • Owned.

  • The epicest frog ever born.

  • WTF

  • Thats racist

  • @bergy41rox ??? why

  • @intelX1000 its a joke...

  • Poor froggie!

  • But... Will it blend? that is the question...

  • Finally! The Toad Elevating Moment!

  • you sir have reached the level of chuck noris

  • @spencerculpepper You sir will be visited by Chuck Norris in your sleep and beheaded with a fingernail clipping for spelling his name wrong. (The Norris sees all!)

  • a majority of the frog is water, similar to humans; water is diamagnetic, meaning that when it's placed in a magnetic field, it will create its own induced magnetic field in opposition to that magnetic field. in order to induce a magnetic field strong enough to make it levitate, they use the 10 tesla electromagnet (compare that will a fridge magnet which is about 5 milliTeslas.

  • Not a trick Google the Meissner effect.

  • poor frog :(

  • Thanks, BBC, for leading me to this amazing video.

  • haha, here also from the BBC quiz

  • I am also here due to the BBC quiz. I also found the questions somewhat ambiguous but after all it is a quiz for fun, no one publishes your score... no need to be bitter.

"Anything one man can imagine ,other men can make real"-Jules Verne

  • @MrBostonAl maybe you're right. It's just a stupid quiz on the website of stupid BBC News in their stupid "Science" section :) not a place to look for accuracy or credibility indeed

  • beeb

  • BBC NEWS!

  • @MrFelonTelevision you mean the stupid quiz on their website brought you here?I hated it. There was a question wether telekinesis is scientic fact or science-fiction. The "right" answwer was that it's real because if you wear a device that reads your brain waves you can animate special mechanisms. idiots should have made that reservation in the question since it's still impossible to throw stones using thoughts only.

  • BBC

  • "And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so."

=> Meissner effect, water floating on the then stronger magnetic field. Water blocks harmful radiation, earth was a greenhouse, more oxygen, greater air pressure gives oxygen saturated blood plasma, body heals fast => longer lifespans.

"And God called the firmament Heaven", "...fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven"

  • @joroma77 ?

  • its called the Meissner effect, it uses a superconductor to levitate metals. this here is using a superconductor to to levitate a diamagnet (water) since most living beings are primarily water. Diamagnetic materials aquire thier magnetic abilities in precense of a external magnetic fiel. I belive this is actually a 15 telsa creating a mag field of 30k the times of earth.

  • frogs arnt magentic how does this work?

  • @IIEdeNII And people thought the proton-accelerator was dangerous, hovering frogs are the real danger to humanity :O

  • NOW LEVITATE A PERSON!

  • allthogh a frog can be levitated by magnitisum, this vid is fake

  • @amanda12345678910mac How the hell is it fake lol

  • Do people really need to be arguing about the specifics of it?

I mean seriously, It's a frog, being levitated, by magnetism.

    What's not to love? :D

  • @KhanateInfinite frog abuse is NO laughing matter

  • The water tries to escape from magnetic fields... That's how!

  • HAAAAAX!!!

  • I want to be that frog :D

  • LOLOLOL

  • poor frog, but that's for the science

  • I want one! D=

  • The scientist who done this was a Muslim, so that just shows.

  • @DJFearRoss that your racist

  • @Davicemo No, that Muslim scientists are the best in the world. Also, Islam isn't a race idiot!

  • @DJFearRoss still racist lol

  • @Davicemo You need to look up what racist means, dumbo

  • @am17g08 actually he won both, I think he was the first ever to do so. The Ig for the frog, the real one for his work on graphen.

  • poor frog...lol but still ways cool.

  • could this be perhaps altered to a larger scale like a human allowing him/her to levitate similar to superman?

  • @NinjaL3g3nd I don't think it would have a very happy outcome or NASA wouldn't be doing weightless training on the Vomit Comet or in swimming pools.

  • hahahaha iron frog. look up this exprement the reason it dose it is because the frog is mainly WATER like you and me.because WATER has got a magical properties when under intense magnetic fields. you could do this to yourself if you build one big enough!!!

  • High field strength X "paramagnetic" molecules, such as oxygen or various proteins with polar valencies make substances "magnetic". NOTE: light waves bend in these fields. Is light iron? Of course it is. This paticular frog is now rich and awaiting "Her Kiss" . Prince Froggie is NOT related to The Jumping Frog of Calveras County; 'ole Lead-belly.

    .

  • btw.. if it was magnetic.. how the hell did the frog leviate??? a frog isnt magnetic xD

  • @megvagyimmartizenyol yeah a frog is magnetic

  • @Blinx56 lol, so its a iron frog xD

  • @megvagyimmartizenyol Yeah they are. Google it

  • @Blinx56 what? google "iron frog" xD MAYBE they made the frog eat something that is magnetic, or there was some magnetic thing sticked to the frog, but there is no LIVING iron frog.. maybe statues :D but they aint living

  • @megvagyimmartizenyol You really dont know how to spot a troll. Frogs are magnetic...u can be magnetic and not made of iron.

  • is that a real video????????????????????

  • And, for a time, this frog lived as we all dreamed.

  • Did the frog get cancer?

  • Depends on what you call the Western Hemisphere. There are high magnetic field labs in Nijmegen (Netherlands) and Grenoble (France). The Nobel an Ignobel price winner Geim, whom among else levitated the frog, strawberries, waterdrops etc spend several years in the Nijmegen lab developing the levitating technique. The Tallahassee is big but not unique in the Western Hemisphere.

  • any i the only one who wonders if the poor frog survived :O

  • @rich1051414 It wasn't instantly fatal, didn't you see the frog moving itself around a bit?

  • @rich1051414 yes.

  • does it hurt the frog?

  • Dave Barry's worst nightmare.

  • This isn't fake, noobs. Andre Geim och Konstatin Novoselev did this.

  • this isn't fake, noobs

  • Frog: "Shhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

  • The frog's like "Okay wtf is going on?".

  • What did it eat?

  • i wonder if that can be made big enough for humans...hmmm.....
