It truly is a horrible film. So warped and perverted from the original, way cooler series. I guarantee you, if they did a G1-related movie, even if it was also live-action, it would sell and be much, much better than this garbage. No question about it.

How some movies like Superman Returns or Spider-Man 3 can completely blow it with audiences because of a small handful of misconceptions which everyone can very easily see, but a movie as wretched as Transformers comes along (putting all personal fandom aside) and absolutely NOBODY cares or even acknowledges how horrifically bad it is. It's just weird. :S
Most people who hold on religiously to G1 won't admit how horrifically cheesy the original series was. The only decent things to come out of it was the movie from `86 and the comics. Before Hasbro got with some guys to create a storyline, the Transformers were just a Japanese toy line of unrelated robots.
I recently saw some episodes of the old show after not seeing anything G1 except for the '86 movie for over 15 years, and the only cheeziness (which I am NOT denying) that I could see stems from its medium; a kids' show. Some corny lines and odd delivery, but otherwise fairly decent material. Nonetheless, I find the show better than the movie since it focuses on the TFs as individual characters that we can relate to instead of making them the context for a variety of human-based subplots.
It was decent material ***for a kids show.*** But going live action and having something appeal to a larger audience requires you to crank it up quite a few notches. Two big factors that contributed to the way the storyline developed is budget and computing power. Even with all of it's computing power, it took ILM hours to render one frame of film, when there were just three robots in the frame. With film being 24 frame a sec that adds up.
Sure, go ahead and crank it up a few notches, but why do the TFs have to be upstaged by a barrage of human characters that should be secondary (if anything at all) to the main story of their war? Why did it have to be written like a teen sex comedy with a few battle scenes inserted into it?
Expense and profit margins. Concentrating on mostly the TF's turned out to cost prohibitive. And rendering multiple robots at that level of photo realism requires an extreme amount of processing power that can push even ILM to the its limits. Geez did you G1 guys put up this much of a stink when Transformers Energon premiered or are you just whining because of who directed the live action movie?
If rendering the TFs in their chosen design would be too much to handle, they should have made them your typical exoskeletal Cybertronian instead of these endoskeletal creatures they made.
I'm not a "G1 guy"; I'm a TF fan who can and DOES enjoy things outside the G1 universe. If I say that TF Energon rotted because of its poor writing, lackluster acting and wooden animation, most of everyone else would understand what I mean and agree with that opinion. This movie is RIDDLED with flaws, but nobody wants to acknowledge them. Why is that?

The ONLY judgment I passed prior to seeing the movie was how he turned it down and didn't pick it up until he recalled how he thought that Raiders of the Lost Ark was going to suck. A movie like this can ONLY be made by someone who is a fan of the material and understands how it should be presented on film. It's painfully clear that Bay has never seen/touched a Transformer in his life.

well bayformer$ did have the same plot we must find the sigma orbs/mini-cons/Energon things/Cyberplanet keys now its find the Allspark what was heaven in Beastmachines bay said he din't want to make a toy commersial yet thats all bayformer$ is general moters/playboy/ebay etc. i once said why? to someone who said bayformer$ was great all i got was a thumb down is it me or can bayformer$ fans not explane why the movie is good? still why all the anger against people who din't people?
Someone challenged me by stating that whatever reasons I had for hating the movie, he could give me a well-thought-out rebuttal as to why my reasons are wrong. Intrigued by the notion of him actually having something to say aside from "turn your brain off and just enjoy it", I mailed him a list about 13 pages long of what was wrong with the movie. This was about a month ago, and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. lol
funny i have seen comments on the net from people that did like the movie yet they all say whats wrong with it! (camera work,story, humans Megatron's looks, the music, that no scene really connects etc.) is it me or is it just populair to say bayformer$ is great? but with all the things whats wrong with it HOW can it be great? just yell ''its giant robots what more do you want''? IS NOT ENOUGH! 13 pages huh? as a comment to a youtube video?
(2) and whats with the hate against people who dint like the movie? i don't hate bayformer$ fans hack i respect there opinion ok but i don't understand it a 100% take the comment from atavias (i gave him a thumbs up by mistake...ooops) opinions fine but why all the swearing ITS A MOVIE! still i wonder if bayformer$ 2 will be better (as a tf movie or just a good 'movie' i could not tell what the hack was going on in 1!)
