  • For someone reason I don't always like when Philip Glass plays Philip Glass. He seems to play a little sloppy most of the time.

  • @DOCSFC You remind me of sweaty balls. What kind of username is that, anyway? You fucktard. Grow the fuck up and get your lazy fucking fat ass off the computer and go find a treadmill. Bitch.

  • HALLELUJAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

    XD

  • FYI

It's not a song if there's no singing.

  • @jessemaurais That is the single most idiotic thing I have EVER heard.

  • @penetreramera he's right it's called a piece. but it's pretty useless to call anyone out on.

  • @penetreramera prepare to have your mind blown, Jesse is right... this ISN'T a song

    Song (sông, sng)

    n.

    1. Music

    a. A brief composition written or adapted for singing.

    b. The act or art of singing: broke into song.

    This is a peice

  • @jamescydonia I before E except after C :)

  • Fabulous!!

  • genius

  • cool

  • "Someday we'll fall down and weep. And we'll understand it all; all things."

  • Con esta pieza de fondo uno de mis escritores favoritos leía por las noches de mi adolescencia

  • @DOCSFC and @Retardoforece4... you both have different opinions, and in some cases I agree with the both of you, but can I just say that, in your immaturity, you have both just shat all over this video. We dont wanna hear it!

  • Comment removed

  • @Retardoforece4 They're just old and ignorant. Music and art complete one another, it's a fact. Anyone who disagrees should learn to open their eyes.

  • @kerryflaws

    music is art.

  • @Retardoforece4 Im sure hes as much of an idiot as you make him out to be, but by arguing and trading comments with him, you give him reason to keep coming back =)

  • @steevyp rofl ur one to talk, ur doing the same thing idiot. they said they were messaging her not comming here you ignorant twat = D

  • @kannibalkorps haha, so I am. I think thats my cue to fuck off then xD

  • Guysssss....You're both idiots. Just leave it.

  • @panasoanicboy he composed this peace for the welcome of the Dali Lama back in the 70's. jus sayin. its a beautiful peice.

  • so great !!

  • a comment on my opinion will be rejected if it is negative..."i like this song" might be liked the most, but how can we ever express how we feel through words? i believe emotions come from music, the music of language, the language of music. i thank philip glass for his style and his originality.

  • man, WTF! this is primitive and disposable melody and composition. go home glass!

  • @panasoanicboy It´s MUSIC man, not WAR!.

  • Genius!

  • Brilliant!!!!Very beautiful!!!!

  • @serpent1991 deathcore is fucking shit

  • Truly haunting and beautiful.

  • too beautiful!

  • This is a bit different than some of the version I hear... Is he playing it too fast? (lol)

  • It's nothing like deathcore. If you want to compare it to something from outside classical music, compare it to ambient or post-rock.

  • much better. i was watching this shitty ass vid of a lady playing met. 2 who wasn't phil. bummed me out

  • Brilliant Serpent :3

  • grande musica e grande compositor.joel reis professor d teclado

  • HOWDY HO!

  • what a beautiful compose..

  • is it 2 against 3 like glassworks

  • Best song ever.

  • @imakikoolol It's not a song...... there is no singing

  • I heard this on ABC (Austtralia) at about 7:45 as i was going to work. It was only on to wake me up, wake me up it did.

  • beautiful music.

  • I feel this song are the cold painful thoughts of a troubled mind in a existencial crisis

  • Haha so much better than Justin Bieber.

  • @YourRealDad100

I'm sick of people like you. In what way is JB so similar that he can be compared to Philip Glass? Just please stop mentioning him. Do I like JB's music? No, but I respect him as a person. There's no need to bring him up, seeing as his music is completely different from this beautiful work of art that Philip Glass has produced. Give it a rest and enjoy this performance by Glass.

  • @YourRealDad100 - Slapping a duffel bag filled with dead rats with your bare hands sounds better than Bieber.

  • Wow.

  • So beautiful the song just takes me over!

  • Maravilhoso, gosto tudo de ele

  • no no no. Do NOT compare classical music with something that has "core" in it. Also slipknot and philip glass music have not the same stucture.

  • Reminds me alot of Yann Tiersen pieces on "Goodbye Lenin"

  • I love his hair

  • Glass is amazing. He combines the simple with the complex, resulting in a piece that is both emotional, yet mechanical. Rather than complex chords, Glass goes in for complex patterns, and though the notes are simple, the pattern grows, and it evolves into something almost tangible. I disagree with QuarkS0up, as I feel that Glass works from the heart, and that people do melody so much that it is a refreshing change of pace to switch to Glass. Also, jail? Are you kidding me? I think not my friend.

  • @arnolphelame22

I agree to a certain level...his styl is his to master. BUT, that being said if you own all his work *i do* it get's pretty boring at a insanely fast tempo. Its always the same styl he hands playing or conducting. Koyaniqatisi and powaqatsi are still my favorites...ends there for most of the music he made.

  • just perfect. makes my pubic hair vibrate

  • @pedrorainha HAHAHAHAHA

  • fantastic...

  • @QuarkS0up What do you think, then, of Paart?

  • @QuarkS0up

People troll classical music Youtube videos?

  • @QuarkS0up

  • He performs April 29,30 and 31 of April in San Francisco.... How lucky we are

  • @Bouchon211 Saw him in OC after flying back home from London that same day, 24 hours awake and I was on the edge of my seat! Check out the festival he is organizing in August/September in Monterey/Big Sur!

  • I like it.

  • I'm so pissed I didn't get to see his performance in Vermont today

  • @pbturkey2 I know I just missed him a few weeks ago in Orange County cause I had class :(

  • watching this on 1911 mode is the best thing

  • Zal nooit mijn eerste concert van Class vergeten en de eerste opera van hem in Den haag ....

  • Mad genuis

  • I am a music theory major, but I really like Philip Glass. His harmonies always bring inspiration to me.

  • @PhrygianBlack So what if your a music major? lol! XD

  • gostei muito desse felipe vidro

  • with ur lil pink winkers. ugh!!!!!!!!!!!

  • like a boss!

  • @eddlovescats LOL!!

  • Absolutely beautiful ... it feels as if I danced with my eyes closed and the pace was leading me safely ... without barriers, and notes, as paths already traversed

  • I feel so inspired !

  • Speachless... :(

  • I am listening earlier to Beethoven's 9th, to Bartok, then to Glass. They have shown me many styles and ways of expression in music. We can make our own also.

  • Everyone should see Koyanisqatsi... and if you have Spotify, listen to "In the Upper Room" It's amazing.

  • I agree totally with jessikafie... right in your own little dark spot in the world from where you can feel the sadness that surrounds you that ironically doesn´t makes you feel sad. I could not imagine my life without Philip Glass.

  • @tayrone2001 I have to agree with you, even though I'm not a music student. Although, I have been learning about various operas and composers as a leisurely pastime since I was extremely little (I'm 13 now).

Fellow Commenters- Most recently I've been studying Wagner with my dad. I call his works complex; not this repetitive... er, music...

  • How can you not like this??

  • Perfect

  • I'm young and I prefer old classical stuff than the minimalism.

But I can't argue with you, classical music aren't my preferred genre of music.

  • SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMtailsdoll...SPAM, wait what did I say 0_o????

  • Genius

  • this is hypnotizing, so so lovely

  • 16 people missed the fucking like button.

  • @AndyRomanul "N persons ____"

what do u people have in ur minds? shit?

  • Thank you Philip Morris Glass

  • has the same structure as deathcore. beautiful. are there any other metalheads?

  • @Serpent1991 sure are

  • @Serpent1991 Wearing my Exodus shirt right now as I watch, i'm a huge fan of Glass.

  • @Serpent1991 I used to be a metalhead, until I discovered classical music! LOL. I still like SOME metal. I promise you that you will get buried by Classical music if you put your heart in it. As much as I like metal it will never have the depth of Classical music. There is still some "hardcore" classical music out there. Look up Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Wagner, Borodin, or Bach for some "hardcore stuff. Listen to Bach's Harpsichord Concerto No1. FIRST you'll LOVE it.

  • @TheDavid2222 omg i did love it.. thank you so much! changed so much right now.. it really has the depth and complex beautiful melodies

  • @Serpent1991 that musician can really shred on harpsichord! lol

  • @Serpent1991 no, it may be naive to put other music choices down but fuck you lol

  • @Serpent1991 way to generalize you studid fuck, i don't think you know you're talking about to the slightest

  • @Serpent1991 Deathcore can kill itself :/

  • @JoshuaEquilibriumIX i didnt mean only deathcore. death metal also and metalcore. anyway however says a music style is shit doesn't really know what music is.

  • @Serpent1991 the thing id, you cant compare deathmetal to this. thats like comparing a bunker to a skyscraper. theyre NOT the same, thats the point.

  • @Serpent1991 i agree..i love metal.this is pretty sick though..very emotional not emo..but emotional.

  • @Serpent1991 No. Fuck deathcore. Not real metal. Please do not compare Glass to that piece of shit emo genre of music, thank you.

  • @DOCSFC Metal is not necessarily emo, thank you very much

  • @kobana23 not metal of course, but any metal sub-genre ending with -core is gay and emo, now fuck off

  • @DOCSFC I think you should appreciate all types of music and not stereotype

especially when its something you know nothing about (you've made it apparent already)

or strop arguing, and just listen to the music

  • @Retardoforece4 How can one possibly "appreciate" those gay emo fringes, stupid lyrics and lame riffs? Some of the shit you call music, is only appreciated by posers, and trendy hipsters. Your comment is irrelevant, and your music is still shitty.

  • @DOCSFC you are so offensive and prejudice. Music is art, do you really think you know everything about thoes subcultures? About everyone? Why are you arguing about it? you really mature

  • @Retardoforece4 That music is not art, it is shitty. End of conversation.

  • @DOCSFC You realize when you spout your opinion as fact, especially regarding current trends, you look like a old sour man? It's actually so fucking pathetic to me it's funny. You really don't see how ignorant you appear? Your grandparents think very highly of the music YOU listen to, i'm sure. How do you know when you're a lame piece of old shit? When you judge new generation's trends.

  • @AtheistsAreGODS You realize you are replying to a half a year old comment? Talk about beating a dead horse. Looks like the one raising the ignorant flag is you. Also, are you butthurt much? It is okay, kid. Your -core genre is shitty, end of story,

  • @DOCSFC You realize you re-replying to a 6 month old comment? And what the fuck does that have to do with anything? Also, irony??... I too hate new trends such as music and fashion. I have a feeling we enjoy the same genre of metal. The only difference is, i don't judge people based on their preferences like an ignorant old dipshit.

For someone who appears to think of themselves as an intellectual, you're not very bright man.

  • @AtheistsAreGODS I'm sorry, making assumptions here are ya? You know what they say when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.

  • @DOCSFC "Assumption" and and "educated guess" are very different, but i don't expect you to understand that. You are a FUCKING TROLL. This is completely clear now. For that, i have no more hostility towards you, but rather pity. Think to yourself, "why am i constantly dealing with ignorant people on the internet??" Hmmm, it couldn't just be that your an apathetic ignorant sociopath, could it? LOL, nooo - fucking tool.

  • @AtheistsAreGODS Yawn, didn't read. You seem upset though.

  • @DOCSFC STOP FIGHTING. Enjoy the music. IF YOU DISLIKE IT, LEAVE. :) Thanks, have a wonderful day.

  • @XXXInfamousRavenXXX Shut the fuck up, cunt

  • @DOCSFC Excuse you, penis. :)

  • @DOCSFC @AtheistsAreGODS you guys are both assholes! THERE now get on with your lifes.

  • @AtheistsAreGODS STOP FIGHTING. Listen to the beauty and if you don't like it don't start shit. It's trashing a video that now, will not play at school for my project (filter). So I told the other person you are comment trashing the exact same thing. LEAVE IF YOU CAN'T STAND IT. Thanks, have a stupendous day.

  • @XXXInfamousRavenXXX NO U STOP FIGHTING ASSHOLE

  • @DOCSFC you just compared the 2

  • this is so true i love your honesty.

  • @Serpent1991 Yeah, and I agree. Best mate and me went to see Glass this other week. We're both into diverse music and both of us got those same thoughts. I guess that metal often has the same minimalistic aproach, coupled with the bravery to be repeptetive at times.

  • @Serpent1991 yes, metalhead.

that's the reason why I'm not listening to deathcore.

Coprse and Fetus for the win!

  • @Serpent1991 no man , deathcore is shit , this cant be compared to any metal genere exept maybe some black/depressive bands , deathcore is way to simple ,

  • @Serpent1991 Deathcore is fucking gay.. Listen to some real metal

  • @Sekay1994 nothing wrong with Gay you moron!

  • @Sekay1994 What have you ever done? nothing i guess, stay asleep. and go and take your nonsense somewhere else, you are heading for a great fall my friend i hope someone will be there to catch you.

  • @Sekay1994 I don't like deathcore, but I recently went to a deathcore concert and there is one similarity between Glass and deathcore, drum beats. Very minimalistic. So they have rhythms in common.

  • @Serpent1991 great minds think alike

  • @Serpent1991 He doesn't seem to be screaming or shouting obscenities...

  • I have no idea where I have heard this before, but I'm studying minimalist music at school, and I just found this, and I recognise it...

  • @RetroKeyboard

You dont need to study this minimalistic shit.. Just study classical music and deduct creativeness ...

  • @MasterMagoo 'Scuse me sir, why watch then?

  • @yesimstuntdude

Simple reason Sir. Because i have to watch it before iam able to say that this is crap ^^

  • @MasterMagoo One might think that your reason would be outweighed by the time wasted, but I guess you never know.

  • @MasterMagoo You might think its crap, but alot of people like it.

Not to be rude, but I think you should keep your negative opinions to yourself :)

  • @Freakshow605

Sorry, but I am allowed to notice my (negative) opinions like other people their positive opinions.

  • do you think i'm a a fool when i feel a kind of convergence between glass and satie ? glass give us rythmic patterns so it's normaly feeled on his/our universe. same with satie, but simpliest. the colors were not the same. the dreams were not the same. they spoke about the same things. it was just a question of time. (sorry for my english). satie was the master :D

  • If i could put life into a song i would put it into this song.... :) Thumbs up if you agree

  • I like is this

  • Fake!

  • Sounds slightly too fast doesn't it?

  • WOW!!! strangely reminiscent of Devotchka's, Already Know how it will end." :-(

  • Sometimes minimalist music just sounds right with the soul. It's a different mood. Sometimes that is what you need. I never heard this before, but I like it.

  • Philip Glass is the second greatest genius on the earth at present. Julian Assange is just above him. Assange has liberated everyman by unmasking governments. Their dissolution is now begun. Philip Glass merely gave us all wings so that we can fly forever. Without a permit.

  • I love Philip Glass :) I think it takes greater appreciation for the 20th century music compared to say, music of Chopin or Bach and the like. It either takes more understanding, exposure or maybe it takes an open mind to accept the sound 20th century music induces in us :)

  • Bellissima ed importante musicalmente, grazie Philip Glass!!!

  • I absolutely love this. :)

  • I don't see why comparison of composer's music exists so much. I say, like what you like without comparing so much, to just listen to something for enjoyment's sake. Music is not a competition. Beethoven is one style, Glass is another style. You are allowed to savor more than one style. Life tastes better when you enjoy the sweet palate of variety in life.

  • ....... oh my gosh. I sat there the whole time, with my jaw open, my eyes wide and my heart wrenching. This piece is absolutely beautiful, the amount of emotion in it is unreal!

  • test
