Very well done. your description about the tone of the song was on key i could see my self in the desert. your playing was very good. i would have enjoyed to hear a few more notes from the lower resgister but not too much because then it would have taken away from the desert aladen feel u still get a 5 from me. you should put the music up for this i too am a flute player
I think you should play with more dynamic contrast, and add some variation to your vibrato. It stays at the same level throughout the piece. Also, some of the attacks on your notes seems a bit weak.
wow...that was amazing.lol im just starting flute in my highschool band and plan to go to Ottawa and preform, tho my sound ismt that perfected and defined. did u have to work at longtones all the time to get yours like that? this piece u played was beautiful u got yourself a fan =P
What I enjoy about your music is the same thing I enjoy about video game music: It's made for a given situation. It brings much more life to your pieces. That's why I'm sure you're going to win this competition.
Your song is very sorrowful, and I can feel the chill. Felt like the desert at night, making me uneasy, bravo!! But sometimes your tone and your playing are hesitated and unstable. Although your tone is squeezed and thin, but it works very well for this kind of song.^^
I wrote a Somewhere Over the Rainbow Variation for flute for division II, but my theory teacher disapproved and said it was rubbish, and I have other school shows coming up in school. So I will pass this time.
Dang, I was hoping the odd combinations of rhythms I used for this tune wouldn't come across as unstable, as you said. I was trying to capture some of the randomness of swirling sand in the tune. I can send you a JPEG image of the tune, if you like:) Some people like to see those of tunes I write. I thank you for the compliment on the mood of the tune, I'm flattered that you saw what I was trying to present:)
Having trouble finishing my comment, and getting it to post. I would post your variation, if I were you. Division II is about creativity, or so it says on the Band Director website. if the theory teacher doesn't like it, maybe that's a good sign;) If you do end up posting it, let me know so I can hear it.
