I like this but what do your neighbors think of you riding on a "toy" train and BTW I hate it when people who don't understand the hobby say "TOY TRAIN"
@NScaleRRFan This isn't my own railway, so I'm not quite sure of the answer. I'd be guessing that they happily tolerate the owner's "unusual pastime". :)
Some have actually set up such models as petrol - electric, but few actually try to scale down a full-size V16 or similar. To scale down the entire diesel - electric system would introduce a lot of complications. And you'd never scale down the sound. :)
Great video. Ive only ridden this railway at night. Good to see it in daylight. I might use this video to convince my wife to have a 5" railway at home :-) Thankyou EMD B67
The body of the lead engine was about $500 - I really can't remember. The rest of it was considerably more. But not mine, so I'm not giving out the details here. :)

Nice railway, but it seems a bit short :( .
starwars4525 4 months ago
@starwars4525 It runs around the owner's home, which is a typical suburban-size block. So a case of a little is better than none at all. :)

Is that G scale or and did you make the cars.
thehorseshoecurve 5 months ago
@thehorseshoecurve Much larger than G scale. You can ride on these ones. Track is 5 inch (127mm) gauge. Unfortunately, not my trains though.

@emdB67 Извините, не разумем.
emdB67 1 year ago
It could be and in fact the owner actually tried it, but there were problems with losing the signal, causing all sorts of problems.
emdB67 1 year ago
could that be run as a radio control set up? if it was not a ride on but still 5" gauge?

This video has no sound, so I used YouTube's background music library.
It's called Music for a Found Harmonium by Penguin Cafe Orchestra (I think).
Fairly well known for its use in the movie "Malcolm".

Yes, and Napoleon Dynamite. A movie that I think deserves to be better known than it was. :)

That's awesome! It'd be cool to construct something like this, when I purchase a home.

Not radio control. Plug-in controller.

@johnnyfarnham As it happens, he did manage it. I've run my train on his new railway.

Great Video!!!!
Is it possible to purchase a body?
Robuster82 3 years ago
The lead loco has a fibreglass body, a number of which were made in the 90s. They do not seem to be available anymore, which is a pity.
emdB67 3 years ago
That is a real shame!
Robuster82 3 years ago
radio control?
A 5" gauge diesel loco would be good if made to scale like the steam modellers do, not just a plastic body on a replica chassis.
Make scaled down bogies exactly, and metal body and miniature v16 engine (have to be petrol) driving generator....if only.
Model diesels although very good r more toys than scaled down real things.
