  • best train ever. they had low back seats that afforded a 360 degree unobstructed view of the entire car and out the window. perfect when riding on the hudson line.

  • wow I am glad someone is posting videos of the ACMU's

  • the last time i actually saw these trains in person was back in spring of 2001, when i was 6, before 9/11

  • does anybody know the name of the horn that was on the acmu

  • @malikrthr1 Leslie S-2L. Same thing as the MN cab cars and SEPTA's GE Silverliners. Also yes I was on that trip with my kid. I still have the brochure which looked like a MN train schedule and I still have my ticket stubs.

  • I was on this trip and had a blast. We went to Mt. Vernon East where they had just changed that stretch over to third rail from overhead, then went to N. White Plains, then to Croton-Harmon. Got lots of stills, one with my 7-year old in the engineer's seat.

  • were you on acmu's. I believe that they are all gone and in the scrapyards in non revenue service.

  • @malikrthr1 Two are at the Danbury Railway Museum, and there's a whole bunch of them for sale somewhere.

  • I had a time on the Baltimore MARC train where the group I was with and myself were running to board the MARC train and it pulled off while we were running even though the conductor knew we were getting ready to board before signalling the engineer for departure.

  • man, i remamber living on park avenue in manhattan. When I was 3, back in 1998, I saw this. The last time i spotted an acmu was back in 2001,

  • Wow, that's so weird, I've never seen an ACMU before, and I've been riding metro north for years.

  • when did the acmu cars retire and why. i remember, before i use to go to bed, i would see these cars passing by. they seem alot like the shoreliners except they are not being pulled by a locomotive

  • The ACMU's were all retired in 2004 because they've been around for many many years. Also it was a pain for the conductor to go to the door and open it by hand instead of pressing it by button like nowadays.

  • You know I never thought about that they do look like Shoreliners or more like NJ Transit's Comet Is.

  • man i remember riding this from Poughkeepsie

    to GCT

i was lucky to catch a train that is retired right now

  • no way you rode these from Poughkeepsie...third rail stops at Croton-Harmon ;)

  • more please!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING! These 'youngens' on youtube need to see what the REAL MUs looked like!

  • DO they still use these?

  • retired in dec 2004.

  • Oh.
