  • Why am I reading the subtitles when I can hear him??

  • This guy is awesome.

  • Salycic acid is my best friend! :P

  • are olive oil or shea butter a bad choice for face creams?

  • @spacetraveller2521 yes because it will clog pores... however if you use it as a mask it will make your skins feel soooo soft!

  • @cookiefizzle

damn that must be the reason why I started getting so much pores.. do you recommend anything great to use as a moisterizer?

  • @spacetraveller2521 @spacetraveller2521 pores are genetic too a great moisterizer is anything that wnt clog pores , with me cause ive had acne nd its marks, the "pimple + marks" cream from clearsil is really good also their is a GREAT makeup tutorial on how tocover it, itsby

    " gossmakeupartist"

under the title " how to vanish pores" and

"how to make pores disapear in seconds"

  • @cookiefizzle actually they dont! the molecules in olive oil are waaaay to big so they cant actually clog our pores. Soap is often made with olive oil (castile soap) and is very very good for skin. I use OO for makeup remover bc its all natural baby! My FAVE is to get baking soda (1 tsp) and something like cetaphil (size of a dime) and gently scrub for 30 secs. Then lather a good dose of Ponds moisturizer. VOILA great skin!

  • @spacetraveller2521 Shea butter is AMAZING for skin. Its awesome in chapstick too!

  • your information is excellent

  • why is there a balloon or what i thought at first (condom) in the middle of the table, awwk.

  • I have really big pores on my forhead and around my nose (cheeks), i dont know wht can i do when i get makeup because i instenly get makeup in the inside of them :/

  • What happens if i massage the cleanser for more than 10 to 15 seconds ??

  • @mintvista your face will fall off

  • @FerociousSoldier what does that mean ? will the skin get drier ?

  • @mintvista

    You die.

  • Comment removed

  • @niftybean Thanks!

  • I have a St. Ives scrub with 2% salicylic acid in it. Is this a good product to use? Will it work well enough if i wet my face with warm water from the sink, cleanse my face with it in circular motions, then rinse with warm water..?

  • I always assumed that the reason why my pores are big is because my skin is over-producing sebum. This really explained why. Thanks doc.

  • Good video!

  • How does that exfoliate the dead skin cells inside of the pores, though?

  • I wish you were my dermatologist! You give great tips and recommendations

  • Doctor, I have a small problem. When I was about seven, I scraped my knee and an odd scar tissue stayed, even know after about ten years. It doesn't itch but it flakes, like dandruff. What is it, and is there a treatment for this? Thank you very much.

  • blackhead, huge pore drive me crazy!

  • do you have any recommendations for a specific granular cleanser and chemical exfoliant that you can find at the drugstore?

  • camera man u got a balon !!! lucky you ! looool

Dr. Schultz , thank you sooooooo much for these videos , so helpful : )

  • I love your tips and explanations :) thank you for making these videos

  • hi, i have enlarged pores on my cheeks and acne too there..can i still exfoliate on the acne or would it make it worse? thnx

  • Going off topic from the video, but is there anyway to increase facial hair growth? Would biotin and rogaine every day help?

  • thanks Dr. Schultz.............!!! the advices that u'd post got me a positive effects on to me!!!!

hope u'd post lots of things correlating on skin care problems..........!!!

    thank u and god bless

    more power

  • I love you Dr. Neal Schultz! I'm kidding, but thank you for this advice and education on pores and cystic acne. I'm going to try fixing my skin again. I workout and try eating right for the most part. I'm going to try adding your routine to mine. Next step getting rid of these scars and discolouration. xo

  • Should the chemical exfoliants (salicylic acid etc) be washed off the skin afterwards or left on? Should this be done at day or night?

  • I thought it was impossible to minimize enlarged pores. So I'm VERY HAPPY with the info you provide in this ivdeo. Yay! Will try that a.s.a.p. Thank you :)

  • Can the sallysilic acid be the proactive one? Because it's the only one I use and I was wondering if it could work. Thank you

  • I use a gentle exfoliating cleanser whenever I wash my face. Is this good or bad for my pores?

  • I only use distilled water, steam, and rhassoul clay. I eat raw. My pores have shrunk to almost nothing.

  • @PamelaViktoria Distilled water to drink? or steam? what is rhassoul clay. You are Vegan? I have cystic acne and would try this diet., My only vice is alcohol that being red wine and Grey Goose on weekends, holidays and birthdays

  • @TheGoddessCaroline Yes the stuff u can drink. The Ph is 6.0, which skin likes, and there's no fluoride or chlorine in it which are irritants. On a clean diet, your liver will clean up first, and then your skin!

  • What's a good granular cleanser to get?

  • I really like your videos, you are really helpful and fun to watch :)

  • could you pls advise the products: exfolitor, cleanser, etc?

  • @SvetlanaLamce - I'm not a dermatologist or skin care specialist, but I've used "cetaphil gentle skin cleanser" for many years, and it never irritates my sensitive skin. Another brand, that is supposed to be similar to "cetaphil" but may remove makeup more easily, is "cerave hydrating cleanser".

  • @Jannsmith I don't understand how it removes makeup. It doesn't take mine off. I've put it on with pads and just with my hands but it doesn't work. It's good for when I get up and that's it. Glad it works for you. I'm an entertainer and it doesn't take off foundation (makeup), or eye makeup (shadows, eyeliner and mascara).

  • @TheGoddessCaroline - If you're referring to Cerave cleanser, I've never used that :) I'm sorry that your cleanser isn't removing makeup as you'd like it to. I've never used Alpha Hydrox foaming cleanser either, but a lot of people are happy with it. Perhaps you can use a damp washcloth as you use the cleanser on your face, too.

  • that is sooooo nice of you doctor to give us tips like that for free, so thank you dearly, you're awsome...

    Much love, ^B^ xxo

  • what cleanser did Dr say we should use at the end of our shower everyday, before the chemical exfoliation?

  • didnt work.

  • How about eliminating acne period through diet ^__^

  • i have had many, many problems with my skin growing up... acne. with my problems, i picked at my skin. some of them were so bad, they would swell...etc. my dermatologist says that does not cause large pores. it more or less just has to do with age and sun. i VERY MUCH DISAGREE. i think it has more to do with acne over the years and picking at my breakouts. :) common sense, right????

thank you for your tutorial. :)

  • does blackhead/whitehead strips, for example Biore nose strips, cause any damage or harm to the pore or below the pore? and what if you are a weekly user?

  • What if you had really bad acne, and it left large pores and pot marks.. then what?

Also to add, is it healthy to clean out the pores by pulling "popping out the black heads" once a week (say Friday), then apply cleansing alcohol, then ice the sore areas for 5 minutes afterwards?

  • @theYguy300 What you're describing are acne scars which can be improved with chemical peels and a retinoid used daily. Proper extraction of blackheads is fine but don't follow with alcohol, use a salicylic acid toner instead. Ice is great to use on any new, just beginning to form pustules (called "inflamed acne") to stop the progression to a big, fat, angry pimple. Apply for 2-3 minutes, twice daily and it may just go away!! (I'm an acne specialist, hope this helps!) Kathy

  • use a sand paper in your face so that it will remove the dead skin in your face and remove the holes.....LOL

  • I wish I could book an appointment with you. You seem to be very knowledgeable.

  • look up ormus gold...it works

  • thanks dermtv , bet you didnt know oxygen cures nearly everything

  • what do you mean by 'granular cleanser'?

  • @ursweetestyuli

something with a granulish texture, like for example, fine sand is granular.

when it is a granuled cleanser, it exfoliates more than just smooth ones

  • @ursweetestyuli - I believe that a granular cleanser refers to one with "grains" or exfoliating beads in the concoction such as st. ives (though haven't used that particular brand, or any, for that matter). Some have said that st. ives is okay though.

  • what do you mean by a granular cleanser?

  • Then how come some of these "clogged and enlarged pores" turn into large nasty pimples or cysts? I'd rather have an enlarged pores problem than severe acne!

  • In the video you mentioned granular scrub what type do you recommend?

  • I like to peel my skin with used coffee grounds twice per month, it makes the skin really soft, increases circulation, leaves a nice light oil layer and visibly shrinks the pores. It's probably the tan

Can that be in any way harmful? Lots of hair-growth products contain coffeine but I don't really believe this peeling causes that effect in my face... what would you say?

    sry for poor english

  • can i use a 20 percent glycolic acid if i mix it with water to get it to 10

  • I had large pores and blocked pores (black heads on my nose and clogged bumps on my forehead). I routinely used clay masks (after steaming, of course) along with my usual skin care routine. Then I found Retin-A (tazorac) my skin initially freaked out and peeled and was red for like a month. But after that, my skin and pores did a complete 180! Now, I use it a few times a week, as well as Peter Thomas Roth's Unwrinkle pads and I use MD Forte III cleanser with A+ results! Try this out :)

  • Why, if oil production causes large pores, do I have this issue with dry skin when I live in the desert? Is makeup a common culprit?

  • @MeredithWaters Do you use a primer? or makeup products with silica or a derivative? Silica can often clog pores.

  • @Ladyofdeath777 Wow, thanks for that revelation. I've been trying to avoid talc-based makeup because it looks flakier. The silica makeup (now almost impossible to find) is what I've been using for years. Now I won't feel bad that the last bottle I could buy is almost gone!

  • Dr., Do you suggest washing again before bed? I hear some people have better results just wiping down the face with a clean cloth wet with cool water. Do you have any opinions on this?

  • lmao at doctor's deadpan expression when he releases the balloon

  • im so gonna watch from ep 1 to 245

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)

  • Hi

Thanks for sharing this information, I am considering a procedure called laser genesis, I am a woman of color, do you know if this would help with pore size?

  • where do i find a chemical exfoliator?

  • This is really helpful! I was wondering if you could reccommend some specific physical and chemical exfoliators? Like which brands and what not so I can pick some up because this is something I think would really help. Thank you so much!

  • Can you recommend what to look for in a "granular" physical exfoliant, or recommend specific products?

  • I heard that the size of your pores is determined by your genes and that you can stop them from getting clogged but the wont ever get smaller. Is that true?

  • @ChanelMarieB While genetics plays some role, it's mostly in determining oil production and follicular lining shedding, both of which can be compensated for so as not to allow clogs to form and enlarge the pore. While some people do have genetically determined "big pores" (like you said), they are rare.

  • There are many available acne skin solutions in the market today that readily target specific cases like body acne. Therefore, to better address various skin problems regarding acne, the solution still rests on choosing the right and best acne solution that fits your type of skin. learn more about curing acne here "bestwaystogetridofacne"

  • @ChanelMarieB Mine definately shrunk! With my raw diet, my skin is much less sensitive. My skin hardly reddens anymore.

  • @PamelaViktoria please tell me about your raw diet? I need that so much

  • @omania100 Wow sorry, I'm 2 months late. The raw food diet is eating fruits, veggies, soaked nuts and seeds without cooking them. I also eat seaweed, and fermented foods. Within 2 months, the first physical change I saw going raw, was my pores shrunk! You can see my pix on my blog. Now it's been a year raw, and my skin is translucent like a kid's. My eyes are also going back to my childhood color.

  • Great explanation, thank you.

  • I have done the physical and chemical exfoliation for over a month now, and the problem still persists. Do you have any other recommendations?

  • @lilasian016 Try getting professional strength exfoliations (glycolic “peels” or/and microdermabraision) followed by extractions of the enlarged pores 2-4 times at 1-2 week intervals. That can be done at a skin salon or a dermatologists office but you may well get better results at the dermatologists office

  • @ M3I97 one example of a granular cleanser would be apricot scrub

  • Dr. currently I was useing product called Cellnique, it started fine but after one week of using my skin got very oily and my pores started to bigger n bigger, however I stoped using them but still the pores r big, before I was using Obaji cleanser which was better, I want new skin routine thougt of elemis produts ,I need you advice Dr. what is best for me?

  • do you only talk about the skin of one's face? because i have a little issue with the skin of my legs :) but nether the less, your videos are really informative, thank you~

  • My large pore were passed down to me by my mother. I have them on my cheeks. I have been doing everything mentioned and nothing is working. Is there a more drastic way to fix them? Maybe a prescription strength drug or procedure to fix this issue that I have had for 15 years.

  • @nelcanada maybe dermaroll?

  • ; doesn't it annoy you how so many people don't even understand what a granular cleanser/exfoliant is? i know it annoys me.

anyway, i would like to ask, how would you remove blackheads and whiteheads effectively. i know physical methods work, but may leave scarring.

  • whats a granula cleanser and could you reccomend one a drugstore please

  • Thanks doctor

  • can ur skin become immune to skin care products or masks that u use on ur skin??

  • @britdanielxoxo Most skincare products when used appropriately do not lose their effectiveness. However, our skin changes from time to time. So if your skincare products are less effective than they used to be, consider changing them.

  • very informative. thank you

  • Would things like the clarisonic brush take the place of granule cleansers?

  • @MakoBeauty It would depend upon the stiffness of the bristles of the clarisonic and the size of your pores, but it certainly couldn't hurt. That being said, granular cleansers are best.

  • what is a drugstore brand that sells these types of cleansers that you would reccommend?

  • you are so kind for posting these! thank you

  • your amazing!

  • i use st ivfes apricot scrub. it has 2% salicylic acid in it. so do i just use that once every time i take a shower? since it already contains salicylic acid. or do i have to use a chemical one after exfoliating?

    thanks!

  • @Cherriedesu Use chemical one after because the scrub isn't on skin long enough for salicylic acid to do anything

  • Hi Dr.,

Can you name any products I might use to make my pores less noticeable? I heard you discussing certain chemicals, but that is really Chinese to me. I have used astringents, but they only make my skin more oily after about ten minutes! My nose, for some reason or another remains red for a few days after I have ex foliated, is there a way to fix this as well?

  • @canadian1000: The persistent redness would indicate that your skin is too sensitive for the exfoliant you are using. You need to use a more gentle exfoliant or use it less frequently. In regards to product recommendations, please visit the DermTV website and on the page for this episode, there are specific product recommendations.

  • u r great!

  • very informative, thank you. I didn't even know there was something you could do about large pores

  • Mr. Cameraman, this one's for you!!!

  • @irwinp lol!

  • thank you very much...i have a lot on my nose like u were saying....also, i usually have a little bit of an acne break out when I'm about to start my monthy but i don't know if thats the cause of it...& also i think its funny when you let the balloon go...:)

  • Wow, you explain everything really well. I bet you would be a great college professor!

  • @aaaaa6705: I've never seen enlarged pores on the locations you've mentioned (I've only seen them on the face). The episode on this page only pertains to facial skin. I suggest that you see a dermatologist for clarification of what your issue is.

  • I've followed Doc's advise and started exfoliating daily about a week ago. I have extremely oily skin and large pores all over . No kidding, already I'm seeing less oil built-up and have a clearer complexion. I'm using all natural ingredients. I use raw cane sugar (I'm told it's rich in Glycolic acid), mix it with honey. Massage the mixture over my face for 10 mins. It works!

  • thanks doc

  • Hello, Are there any over the counter products that you would recommend? Brands?

  • "Mr. Cameraman, this one's for you." :)

    Thanks for this video!

  • where can I get products with those ingredients? Please help me, my skin is looking horrible.

  • You can buy Glycolic cid @ Amazon. It has great review on the product, and good price.

  • @DiggyandJ You should be able to find them all via online and local pharmacies. In addition, at the bottom of each episode on the DermTV website, I list example products so it might be worth it for you to check that out.

  • If only it were that easy.

  • @papatoony ya know, making an egg white mask and putting that on your face really tightens the pores.
