I know better now because I realize just how tight this band really was, but when I was 18,19, and 20 and riding the Police wave I was convinved Copeland was amped on coke to play like he did. I have too much respect for him as a drummer to even entertain that thought today. I saw them 4 times in the early eighties with REM, The GoGo's, A Flock of SeaGulls, and The Reflex opening up. Man I was Lucky to be a kid back then. I still have my stub. 12.50 a ticket. General Admission.
@dangerrat456 He's a MONSTER on the drums! I wanted to play the drums so bad as a kid after watching Police vids as a kid, I set up my own drum kit using chairs, couch pillows and an workout bench!
@rawsketch id say thomas lang, stewart copeland and terry bozzio are the best drummers currently alive, i remeber watching stewart copeland playing drums during the reunion tour at madison square garden and i think i was playing my kit till 4am that day, LOL
LOL ! It's hilarious to see that english peoples don't understand a song sung by an American band.. That what it feels like when french people listen to English music,
Well, I'm French, so I can translate you some lyrics,
Sting speaks to a woman he is hungry for, and he says ha was in love, but he drunk her blood... That's weird, isn't it ?? do you still want to understand what he says ?
@Sachakonskier but but but.....the police are only one third american... copeland, and by all accounts hes more a citizen of the world due to his military family moving around the world his entire life. i still count the police as a uk band. maybe im just a jerk that way. :)
@VIUDOJOVEN te envidio sanamente yo los vi en bs as en 1980 estadio obras, ni sabia quienes eran y desdew ahi me rompieron la cabeza hasta ahora............... saludos!!!!!
You people are crazy. Marker for their destruction? Are you kidding? They just unfit better and better as the years went on. Long live Sting and the Police!!!
a.) Too fast. b.) Never got used to hearing The Police w. a horn section. Studio version is pretty decent, but this is a pretty marker as to where they started to descend into destruction.
It wasn't the band getting in sync....the vocal changed because got compressed when the mix engineer cued the vocal through the compression chain in the front of house mix. This could all be a monitor mix as well.
I noticed not till the beginning of the 1st verse before the band got 'in sync'.Not knocking on it,it is difficult, but you notice once Sting begins singing,it all falls in place---awesome musicianship!
as i can see..the only version from hungry for you live its in my country.. chile by the way...eeeheh.... if someone has another one, please, share it!

@rawsketch Stewart Copeland is the best rock drummer EVER. just listen to the drums only on message in a bottle, or driven to tears, e.g..

Great performance - but I'm afraid I'll never get used to the French, imo it just doesn't fit this song at all. *sigh*

fuck stings an underarated bass player
mhuki 2 years ago
@mhuki agree with you, the difference with the others bass players it's than him, he sings in same time. It's hard to make both at the same time.
