Well...history is accelerated here in the alternative youtube-universe, as you doubtless know! Next week we'll probably be nominated for a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award !!
Five stars for this great project :) Like Dave already said, I missed a bit the diversity, means that everyone who participated should appear in the video (visual, at least photos) and also audible. Like for example person1 sings the first two lines, person2 sings the next few lines and so on. And I also expected it to sound more sophisticated, ..
..the music itself, since I personally don't like 'plastic' keyboard sounds (the trumpets for example) or synthetic MIDI tunes. However all in all it got superb. The many voices, a great mix :-)
Yeah, I don't like the synthetic sounding horns and such either...but, we work with the equipment we have and hope for the best! I would have really liked to feature everyone's photos too, but by the time I fought with the sound and finally got a mix that worked, I was exhausted and anxious to finish...hence the easy way out was just to show Fargen singing (he wasn't all that crazy about that either, for the record) . . . thanks Kris. Next project will be better but it won't happen soon.
And yeah.., crashing computers are a baaaad bad thing. Sometimes it almost can make you cry after having put all your blood and sweat into some thing.. Sometimes we all like to throw our computers right out of the window hehe ;)
Oh I wish I had been in on this. I recieved the invitation, but I didn't have any headphones, I do now 'cause I wouldn't want to miss such a great thing again...
(Now I have to learn how to record properly, I'm an idiot with computers)
KG: no doubt there WILL be more of these, don't worry. Your computer likely already has everything you need to record. Even the little webcam microphones seem pretty decent these days. When the next one happens, I'll give a heads up.
Yo Doc, Yoo Da Man! This thing came out great!!! I am proud to be a member of the Toobles, thanks for including me in there. I was up at guitar camp this week and was explaining to anyone who would listen about your project, and they thought it was a great idea. Now I can tell them all where to watch it. Nice!!! Appreciate all your hard work.
You sent me 2 tracks - both great ones too. What a guy. A real Tooble, you are man! You mean you can actually get people to listen to you go on and on about YouTube? When I start doing that, peoples eyes tend to glaze over rather quickly.
I know what you mean, but a video like this might be just the thing to change their minds! We need a Toobles logo. How about paint it on the bass drum?
i just got back from a 4 hour car ride- WOW- sounds great- everyone involved gets a standing ovation- Doc, awesome job- thanks for all your hard work- Bravo!!
hmmm..and to think I was starting to feel SORRY for you-like i do when I catch an unexpected glance at my own reflection in a shop window and I think to myself, "Look at that poor old dude..." 8(
and of course to all involved and i apologise for the dodgy tempo thing mike ;-) but all in all it was very fun and even funny to see my girlfriends face when i was doing the high harmonies ;-)
But i just really do think that it would have been even greater when you did put some still frames in it!just like you can see everyone doing his part of the song...
I think next time I'll ask people to post Video of themselves singing and playing-then I could easily grab bits and put them in. But they would still have to SEND me audio because YT turns that into mono at about 1/4 the fidelity. Might be too hard to get anyone to go to that much bother. It was tricky enough just getting MP3s from people...I got every kind of format imaginable. All the same-I do agree with you Dave. It WOULD be cooler to SEE everyone!!
Sounds great, Doc! May I suggest you put an introductory paragraph into your notes to explain the project in simple terms to the initiated? That will come in handy when we hit it big!
This sounds great! You did it!!!!!! I know a lot of the people who worked on this with you. AWESOM!!!!!!! I'm sorry to hear about your computer problems. I'm glad you feel better Doc. :) Clint is a sweetheart! I like the music at the end too. *HOORAY*
WE NEED TO PROTEST TO BRING FARGEN BACK!!!!... Youtube removed his account. I say its BULLSHIT

but anyway great work dude!!!

btw..I can hear you Dave! But I've listened 30 times. If no-one stands out in a choir, that's a good thing right?

Hey, EXCELLENT job on this, Doc! It turned out great!!
btw: How many background (vocal) tracks are on this?
Thanks for your patience with me, Doc......obviously technical stuff is not my area. ;) lol
mmcs122 4 years ago
There's something like 20 separate background vocals, although some sent more than one. Altogether 12 people.
