  • 哇,你是怎么学会的。有的人在上海20年都没学会上海话。厉害厉害

  • 朋友,上海唉话讲了伐错:)

  • learn all your mandarin first

  • 仿廣韻

  • wow!!!!You are soo freaking great!!!!!!!!!!!!As a chinese, I have to admire your spirit of learning chinese, particularly it is dialect.!!!!

  • Where do you learn Shanghainese besides Shanghai?

  • Not bad! But there's still traces of a Mandarin accent leftover from when you're mentally translating. 但是真的不错啊!

  • 带有粤语口音的上海话。

  • @duolabm 是的..不过已经很厉害了!!

  • @deutsland123 确实非常棒,我自己都说不了这么好。

  • very very nice. good job mang LOL

  • i love shanghainese

  • ya know what i don't understand, why is it always the geeky skinny types that are into asian culture and in asia countries?

  • it's hard for chinese to learn shanghainese. you've been learning it for only several weeks? you are a genius. i m a shanghainese, i m thrilled that people are learning our dialect because it is being forgotten among the younger generation of shanghai people.

best wishes to your studying shanghainese.

  • @0613008caonima

Because shanghainese is only slave of Mandarin,or will be Mandarin in future.

CAntonese is language,Mandarin is language while shanghainese is only dialect. And shanghainese is dying.Mandarin will destroy shanghainese.

  • @BAIYUE1 what's the difference between a dialect and a language? only 25% of shanghainese is intelligible to people who speaks only madarin, that's less than cantonese. the reason why mandarin is prevailling in shanghai is because there are too many people coming in town. if you know a little about the history of china, you ll find out all the civilizations are developped, all the poems are written in WU language, which is the root of shanghainese.

  • @0613008caonima

language is more important than dialect. When you say dialect,it is one part of other language. For example,Cantonese is language has some Cantonese dialect,or Mandarin is language has some Mandarin dialect. So people in world can know clearly about Cantonese and Mandarin

And shanghainese dialect mean that shangainese belongs other language, not important,so the world don't know about shanghainese.

  • 弄上海闲话刚了老好额!

  • awesome... 几个星期就可以这样了...

  • 很厉害 佩服

  • Nice, but if you haven't improve yet. Just a few corrections. the word "called" (name) is pronounced "ji'all." You are pronouncing it like the word "wine." Also, "but" is pronounced "day'z" with a clear "Z" sound such as in the last name "Diaz.. The word "is" is prononced like a clear "Z" like in "Diaz" again.

  • 你很厉害!!!我会上海话,我现在在加拿大 :)

  • 你有skype吗?

  • I see a lot of improvement from your previous video, good job! Although it kind of sounds Cantonese to me during some parts, but that's probably because you are living in Hong Kong and have more Cantonese influences.

  • 大陆 的陆 发音 loh 入声,不是普通话的音lu

  • @zhongguohua88 你很利害。你说广东话和普通话说得很流利吗?

  • @thetimothyjr2155 当然阿,我在香港已经住了两个半年哦!

  • 上海话也是中文拉, 不是只有普通话

  • @cswtds 我知道啊,但是很多人以为中文就是‘普通话‘。

  • Your name is quite logically. I am learning Mandarin but i'm not that far yet.

  • 混杂普通话+广东话+上海话。比上一个提高了不少。

  • Hello! After watching your video of speaking shanghainese I would like to say that you must have a talent of learing language!Your shanghainese is very good but still need to be improved. I'm a local Shanghainese boy and I'm studying in Australia now. My situation are similar to yours. I don't have any Shanghai classmates. I need to speak Shanghainese or I may forget it ,my mother tongue, and I also need to practice my English! Shall we make friends and practise shanghainese and English?

  • 刚老实诶话广东话无听啊听伐懂。。

    农竟然诶会得刚上海诶话。哈有语言天赋

  • wow u can speak shanghainese pretty good for someone just learning, u sometimes mix mandarin in there.. usually people trying to learn chinese usually just learn mandarin and don't bother with the dialects.

i'm trying to learn mandarin because i only know shanghainese which is not good enough. u can communicate with more chinese people using mandarin. so hard to find shanghainese outside of china.

  • u like shanghai we get it

  • -_-!! 不好意思 虽然我说普通话 但是你说的什么 我真的没听懂. 个人建议你应该学学普通话 在中国 最好不要学方言 除非有个人需要 因为多数人都说普通话

  • 老卵!

  • That's awesome! Learning Shanghainese or any local Chinese dialect is hard for foreigners, even for other mainlanders. Shanghainese is my native dialect; it's nice to see that you like how it sounds. :) Keep learning!

  • sounds more like cantonese really..

  • big improvement from earlier vid :) dont listen to the haters. any chinese dialect is difficult for a native english speaker. ive been learning mandarin this past year. im not near as far with it as i had hoped haha

  • Very impressive, Phillip. You are learning very fast, and your pronunciation is improving vastly from one video to the next.

  • 很不错哦 加油

  • Hey, Can I make friends with you? I am a Shanghainese boy, you can call me Eric. I watched ur video in Shanghai dialect, i was actually amazed by you. So, if u want to practise ur Shanghainese, I am ur man, haha. So, If u reply my message right here,i will let you know my contact info.

  • @cjjeric1985 Sure! Do you have Skype/MSN/QQ?

  • i'm a native shanghainese speaker, your accent is very cantonese, just like last time. but it's an improvement. shanghainese isn't a very tonal language like cantonese.

  • wow not bad~!!!!!!!!!! there are some mistakes but i can understand~~~

  • Hi, I gave you a text, please check it.

  • 节棍格。庞友,农老来三格,农字宁才啊。

  • 震惊

  • Wow, I'm really impressed with this. I'm Shanghainese-Canadian, and found this mostly understandable. The accent is a little strange (sort of Canto, as people have been saying), but you seem to be learning the language well. Keep practicing! :)

  • 你很有语言天赋.上海话说的不错.

    几个星期能说成这样,很惊讶!

  • not bad :D it sounds more like canto but its understandable

  • Well done though your shangainese sounds a bit like Cantonese.

  • good job!!! You are talented!

  • 拜倒,几个礼拜你就学这么牛了!我是上海人,所以相信我:你学得太快太好了。鉴定完毕

  • your shanghainese is seriously not bad! well done!

  • fellow Canadian too eh??

    wow ur chinese is terrific...

keep it up bro... respect from Vancouver

  • wow how did you learn shanghainese? i am trying to learn the pinyin and it's crazy! i can speak mandarin and know some shanghainese and a littel cantonese so I can understand some of what you are saying.

  • hahaha... who teach you this, awsome!

  • your Shanghainese sounds like Canto... I'm sorry

  • hey! nong hao! I'd be glad to teach shanghanese! your shanghainese's not bad!~

  • "叫" is [tʃɔ] not [tʃu].

  • And try to distinguish between [y] and [œ], which corresponds roughly to Mandarin ü and uan. For some people, [œ] sounds like [ʏ], so you must not pronounce [y] as [ʏ].

  • Thank you very much! What is the difference between 阿里 and 啥地方? In what context is it more appropriate to use one than the other?

  • Not much, I think.

[sa difɑ̃] is more Mandarinized, and it sounds bigger, so "where do you live" etc. And normally we say [ɦalitɐʔ] rather than [ɦali]

  • @zhongguohua88 阿裡的 and 啥地方 is actually the same, the correct chinese character for 阿裡的 is 何裡的。何 pronounced as "a" in shanghainese.

  • FYI, "住" is "zhy" in Shanghainese (Shanghainese pinyin). "后" is "hhou". "叫" is "jiao". "大陸" is "dda lok", "是" is "zhy" as well. "生活" is "sang wek".

  • 谢谢侬!我老早唔没学过濁音和清音搿么事,现在应该要学哦。请问"阿里和啥地方有啥分别?

  • 阿里是新一代上海人說的.

    啥地方是老上海說的.

    意思相同

  • It is very important to practice 濁音 and 入聲 in Shanghainese. "多" is 清音 while "大" is 濁音. "一" is 入聲, "衣" is not 入聲. Mandarin doesn't have these elements though. (我來香港以后), 后 is 濁音 actually but what you pronounced is 清音.

I think maybe you should systematically learn all those consonants and vowels in Shanghainese first.

    Do these sound confusing?

  • hahahaha, let me teach u, hahahaha. u speak really nice.....

  • 我喜歡普通話but這個很好啊

  • wow im so impressed cuz shanghainese is superhard to learn. & im canadian too ;D toronto!

& everyone in shanghai speaks shanghainese so if you travel there for a few weeks, you'll learn like theres no tomorrow because you can actually practice with a lot of people

  • 你会说广东话呢,很棒(well done)!

    你说得不错,不过我有一点听不懂。

  • Am Australin and I can have learnt Mandarin for 5 years. I can get the overall drift of what you are saying but I can not make iut out word for word

  • Mandarin is replacing Shanghainese. Now Shanghainese are worried. In order to preserve the Shanghai dialect, many Shanghainese women are only marrying Shanghainese guys or similar dialect group like Suzhou. It sounds like they are racist but it's true..

  • Most of the Shanghainese I know do not have Shanghainese parents, yet they can speak the language because their classmates were speaking it. If one parent can speak the language I don't see what prevents the child from learning it. The same things happen in other provinces of China as well as overseas, this is not limited to Shanghai. I think Hong Kongers are much more racist than mainlanders: they will only speak English to you if you are white no matter how much you ask them to speak Cantonese

  • zhongguohua88, the child may only learn to speak a language more than the other language. Since Mandarin is increasing in Shanghai and a lot of TV entirely in Mandarin, the child would speak a dominant dialect like Mandarin rather than Shanghainese. The child would know basic Shanghainese. The environment and the media are important.

    hey, are you a Jew?

  • @zhongguohua88

Believe me; the Shanghainese can be pretty racist, as are any local mainlanders. However, they have a tendency to keep that among themselves. :(

  • You speak it much better now, congrats!

Next time, try say "一" better. It's a diphthong, [iɪʔ]

  • Yes sir

  • good job man
