Marino sucks. Namath and Jurgensen were better passers, Montana & Bradshaw & Brady have the hardware. I live in Miami and it is a myth that Marino never had good running backs or defenses. Certainly good enough to win. Shula got in lots of free agents. Marino was a statue in the pocket, and every time he fuc#ed up, he was always bitching & moaning and crying for flags. That's not 'fierceness', it's pathetic. His last game was perfect for him, a 62-7 ass kicking. He couldn't carry Elways jock.
@rickatart Never put brady and bradshaw anywhere near a list by dan marino just cuz tom "suck my nut" Brady had a good running back and a great defence in all the years he won a super bowl.. Fuking Dan Marino made it to the super bowl with just his arm and 2 recievers so shut up because you have no ideas wtf ur talking about...
I'd like to see Brady in Dan Marino's positions back then against the back and forth battles against The jets.... yeah and Brady is a little selfish bitch and Bradshaw

He would have jumped at the chance to be a replacement, ASS HOLE!

@bjchit Well I asked you if you wanted to lick the sand out of my vagina, and you said, "No thanks. I am straight". So if you are STRAIGHT and dont want "Vagina", that must mean you are a woman who wants MEAT! Make sence now?
What is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to me is the amount of velocity and drive he gets into the ball without much effort or even his feet properly set. Most QB's today, especially Manning drives off his plant leg. Marino never even bothered. Here is to Dan Marino, the Greatest of ALL Time.
I am glad that Marino stayed with dolphins through his years as QB, but if he went to another team he would of won the superbowl multiple times. Don shula owes marino for 147 wins he got from him. lmao....
Amazing pocket presence. The guy couldn't run to save his life, but he could sure side-step the rush without taking his eyes off his recievers. The only guys in the league who come close now are Peyton Manning and (pre-injury) Tom Brady.
Marino was the best Quarterback . . . ever. A great drop back passer that picked apart defensives, like nobody else ever did. The man ran a two minute drill like nobody else. Dan was the Man!
Hummm Joe Montana - Grandfather of the west coast offence...shifting routes on the fly - brilliant football mind. In his twilight years he took a shit organization (KC) to the playoffs.
Tom Brady - 50 TD passes in one season. 3 Superbowls. I think Detroit would be a better team if TB was there.
BTW - Quickest release in football by far was Dan the Man...totally agree Gears. I do miss watching him in the league - let's enjoy Favre while we got him.
Actually I kinda agree with scorpien. Tom Brady has an easy job as a QB. I mean he won 3 SB's because of his team, not because of Tom Brady. We all found that out on 02/03/08, when brady froze up doing the super bowl. His team is so good even when he did get injured, Matt Cassle even did a damn good job beating brett Farve with the jets in his what?, second game LMAO. Its all about the team, dont get me wrong though Detroit would be better if they had TB. Thats why Marino never won the SB.
Brady played very well that game, unfortunately for him his O-line didn't block for him that night, Marino was in a similar situation when he went up against the 49ers in the Superbowl, they pounded the hell out of him and the Dolphins lost.
lmao same situation. Brady is a candy ass with a complete team. Brady would be no where without that team. he is an average passer, his team makes him the QB he is. I seem to recall Brady having a 1 defense and 2 a running game in that superbowl. In all of Marino's career he did not have the above two to help him win the SB. Brady can only wish to be the passer Marino was.Brady definitely doesnt run the 2 min drill as well as Manning and you think he is better than Marino lol
You need to recheck your numbers, the 07 Pats defense gave up PLENTY of points, the Offense carried the Defense that year, and the running game wasn't anything to write home about.
Brady won Suberbowls with scrub receivers while Manning has had ProBowl and HoF talent around him his whole career.
How did Manning's 2 minute drills go during the Superbowl? Oh yeah, he threw a HORRIBLE pick 6 that basically sealed the game.
It is the experience around Brady that he has and the Pats D was ranked 4th overall in 07. It was their best d since 1979. Please take a good look at your stats again because obviously you arent looking at the correct info. Brady has always had a complete team and like I said before he would do nothing if he didnt. His running of the 2 minute is ok at best. It must be great to know what d a defense is running so you can always know who your open reciever will be.
They were the number 4 defense in the leauge that year. Granted they played 6 games against the rest of the AFC East, but they were still plenty good.
You cant judge a player on the success of his team, football is a team sport even more so than other sports eg. you have 3 units special teams, defence, and offence.
A perfect example of how good he was is when you look at his winning %, he could make a crappy team better, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, were/are on very good organizations they would not be as succesful on average teams. (not to take anything away from those QB's they are/were good but not as good)
Marino never wanted a strong running game because he wanted to pass all the time, while giving impressive numbers that strategy won't win championships. You might not think Brady is as good as Marino but he would eagerly welcome a strong running game because he wants to win championships.
That's why it's very flawed to compare Bird to Jordan, Bird wanted to orchestrate the ultimate offense where as Jordan wanted to be the ultimate player.
Never wanted a running game? Marino wasn't the coach, Shula was (that is the coach's job)
Perfect example Troy Aikman was a very good pocket passer, however he was blessed to be on a great offense and never had to pass as much) that is what would have happened with Marino as well, I don't know where I here this crap about him never wanting a running game thats ridiculous)
Shula let Marino have his way, the same way Cal Ripken Jr's coach allowed him to play even though he was injured and cost the team simply so he could have his record.
Don't believe me? Watch "Dan Marino: Heart of a Champion" and see how interested he was in a running game. Unbalanced, pass heavy offenses never win championships.
And how many of those were playoff wins? Unbalanced teams become exposed in the post-season, a pass heavy team like those Marino was on might put up some nice numbers but they're not good at winning big games.
They would have been wise to have a running game and stronger Defense, even if it came at the expense of passing.
true... just think its funny how a coach with only two losing seasons below .500 in his whole 30 year career. could do it with out a run game. plus going undefeated all the way thru the playoffs is still a record. and if im not mistaken i belive his team won the superbowl the year after that to. indeed he was a pass heavy offense. but you seem to forget it was a formula that worked for them in the regular season. just not in the playoffs.
you are seriously mistaken. it was the dolphins organization that would not get a runner. The actually went after Barry Sanders but, he retired. They want a runner but they would nto pay for it
That's crazy to think he never wanted a running game. the problem was the dolphins coaching staff never developed an adequate running game or a good defence for him. he had no choice but to throw the ball often
How is a team supposed to get better at running except by running? If an O-line only practices pass blocking they're not going to get good at run blocking, again, how are running backs supposed to get better if they never run?
Marino only passing is the cause, not the effect.
Glocker, i saw dozens upon dozens of dolphin games when dan marino was there. they would try running the ball but would gain 2 - 3 yars a carry. Next thing you know, they 're losing 14 - 0 or 17 - 3 and they have no choice but to pass on virtually every play. The coaching staff is totally to blame for not developing a good defence or decent running game
exactly new, Jimmi Johnson forced the run and it got them no where and when that failed he called on Marino to win games even after he took his speed recievers from him and destroyed his front line. Marino still won most of his games even then. Johnson screwed his last 4 years in the league. He would have been better just staying with Shula and putting up numbers that not even farve could attain playing years after marino.
Also........ The man with the quickest release in NFL history threw 420 touchdown passes and passed for an astronomical 61,361 passing yards with 4,967 pass completions, all good for first in the NFL record books. All in all, Marino has established 20 NFL records.......... best period...
. Dan Marino: Dan Marino was a first-round draft pick for the Miami Dolphins in 1983. He went to college at Pittsburgh. He spent seventeen seasons as quarterback of the Miami Dolphins and broke almost every passing record possible.( I found this on the web, stats show that he is the best QB of all time.) Super bowl ring or not. Statistics dont lie. Research it for yourself.
i dont care sb this dude saw the feel like no other quarterback... he is a pure passer for sure theres nobody else like him except peyton manning. and let me ask u haters out there hatin on dan becasue he got no superbowl ring......how many rings u think the pats woud get if dan was there quarterback? how many sb would the 80's 49ers have if dan was there qb? he was better player at his position than all of them.... if u want 2 look up 2 the perfect qb, look no further.
it may not be fair, but brady's already a better qb simply because of the rings. marino's one of the greatest ever and probably would have multiple rings if he had a better team around him, but he didn't. quarterbacks are remembered for winning, plain and simple. brady is a winner, marino never got to the top.
If SB rings are the measuring stick of a great QB, then Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Rothlisberger, Griese, Bradshaw, McMahon, Hostetler, Eli Manning, and many more. Dan never had a running back or defense. Brady on the other hand has had a top defense almost every year, now I'm not saying he is not great, cause he is but great is great and leave it at that. Now you could also say that Barry Sanders sucked, since I think he only won 1 playoff game. Great is great, period.
are you unintelligent? If marino had the team that brady had around him dan would have 10 superbowl rings. He would have retired out of shear boredom from winning so many games. Dan didnt need people spying on plays in order to get wins. Brady is no where near the caliber of quarterback Marino was. He can only wish he could play the position as well as dan. at the end of brady's career you are gonna see he is no where near the greatness of marino stat wise. you need a whole team to win the sb.
I disagree. The uniforms back then were great plus they were identifyable with the team. Today, all you see 6 teams with Navy Blue , 8 teams with black and the formation of hideous templates like the new Falcons/Cardinals disaster. I can't stand my Dolphins' uniform. That extra blue color kills it.
i really like the newer uniforms i really do like the Falcons/Cardinals uniforms and i like what the chargers have done with their uniforms i also like the dolphins new uniforms except for the one time orange and dark blue ones, u liked the old Denver, Falcons, Bucs uniforms
Matt Cassell also did good in that system. You guys have the talent in NE....Marino never had that kinda talent in Miami when he was there...how many rings do you think he would have if he did??? Also remind me what Brady's rookie stats were vs Marino??? Ohh thats right, I forgot the NFL does not kid records for ridding the bench.
you must be sick in the head...a loss is a loss would you say that eli had a ring if ne beat ny by 3...no so shut the fuck up..as for records brady has one passing record for single season tds while marino has harnessed every passing record known to man...
brady was on a much better team and if marino had a team like the pats he would have had 5 rings marino threw for 48 tds his first year as a starter you must be kidding me...let brady throw 30 tds a year for 15 years straight like marino did and then we can talk
and yet in the end brady will be a scrub stat wise because he is not the passer marino was. being great at your positon has nothing to do with the superbowl since you need a whole team to win it and marino had half a team when shula was there and a quarter of a team when johnson coached and he still won. Brady will never be the quarterback Marino was, ever.
@bigmantotake23 Your like all the other people on the face of the planet who think a ring makes a great qb. A ring is an example of a great team, not a great qb. If you do not have a complete team you do not have a ring. I will give you perfect examples of terrible qb's who have rings because the other sums of their teams made up for their lack in talent... Jeff Hostler, Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien and Jim McMahon to name 4 that were terrible qb's but, had a complete team that carried them.
@BBEEAANN1 Brady is a decent qb but, he is not an elite qb. He never will be. His ability to run the 2 minute drill is not that great and we saw how well he did last season when he didnt have the other team's d to win games did for him. Since then he has been in close gams and there has only been a couple of games where the pats have destroyed teams. Stop being ignorant and realize a great team wins the superbowl, not one person.

He can only wish he could play the position as well as dan. at the end of brady's career you are gonna see he is no where near the greatness of marino stat wise. you need a whole team to win the sb.

damn uniforms were ugly as hell back then
fredqjr 2 years ago

NE lost to NY by 3 points, Brady already has 3 rings...countem again...3...rings. Maybe he will let Marino hold one for a week or so.
miketysontko 3 years ago
you must be sick in the head...a loss is a loss would you say that eli had a ring if ne beat ny by 3...no so shut the fuck up..as for records brady has one passing record for single season tds while marino has harnessed every passing record known to man...
carloistheman12 3 years ago
brady was on a much better team and if marino had a team like the pats he would have had 5 rings marino threw for 48 tds his first year as a starter you must be kidding me...let brady throw 30 tds a year for 15 years straight like marino did and then we can talk
carloistheman12 3 years ago
and yet in the end brady will be a scrub stat wise because he is not the passer marino was. being great at your positon has nothing to do with the superbowl since you need a whole team to win it and marino had half a team when shula was there and a quarter of a team when johnson coached and he still won. Brady will never be the quarterback Marino was, ever.

@BBEEAANN1 - You took the words right outta my mouth.

@BBEEAANN1 You are retarded. Take a good damn look at the rings marino and Brady got.
Brady-3
Marino-0
Now please, suck Marino's dick will ya?
bigmantotake23 1 year ago
@bigmantotake23 Your like all the other people on the face of the planet who think a ring makes a great qb. A ring is an example of a great team, not a great qb. If you do not have a complete team you do not have a ring. I will give you perfect examples of terrible qb's who have rings because the other sums of their teams made up for their lack in talent... Jeff Hostler, Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien and Jim McMahon to name 4 that were terrible qb's but, had a complete team that carried them.
BBEEAANN1 1 year ago
@BBEEAANN1 Brady is a decent qb but, he is not an elite qb. He never will be. His ability to run the 2 minute drill is not that great and we saw how well he did last season when he didnt have the other team's d to win games did for him. Since then he has been in close gams and there has only been a couple of games where the pats have destroyed teams. Stop being ignorant and realize a great team wins the superbowl, not one person.
