@cappsoutlaw The same reason why a Bug (Bumblebee) was nearly the same size an an A-10 (Powerglide.) Transformers weren't made in proper scale to each other. Look at it this way, if Blaster's alt mode was in scale to Optimus, his figure would be too small to play with.

@cappsoutlaw Blaster was from the MicroChange toy line in the japanese Microman toys (as is megatron, soundwave ect.) Prime is from Diaclone. Micro change were supposed to be the actual size of the toy you played with, so a little radio changed into a robot and helped microman (who was 3 3/4") fight little aliens. Diaclone were scaled down cars that turned into mecha and were piloted by humans. look up diaclone and microman japanese comercials

When I saw these commercials & the kids when I was younger, I wasn't scared once!
