In addition,does anyone know if the small "Themepark" that was at the citypark survived in any-way?? For any1 in-the-know that was a really interesting-looking place(the Mothergoose-like area,especially).I would love to know if it's still around...

Surprised no one pointed out the name "Jazz Land"on any vid titles...
I actually went there shortly after it was opened(a few months or so),before any big name rides were around(I don't think Batman & Riddler were there yet).
It actually was barely turning a profit from what was in the news up until 2002(when I moved)so I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did...

All of this happened because of Hurricane Katrina, the park's drainage system failed and was abandoned from 2005 to 2012 were taken Batman ridller attractions and more of the park the park is not reopened because of problems with the insurer and the park remained abandoned no intention of reopening!

Why hasthis park not been epaire reopened? Is it mostly due to our crappy economy? I would like to know why a place of fun and entertainment has not been repaired and reopened. I hope it dose get fixed and reopened sooner vs. later. thank you for posting this video.
@ahnbra The park was under 30 feet of water for a few weeks. Over 80 percent of the park was severely damaged. The repair costs would have made the park unable to turn a profit so six flags salvaged what they could and sued their way out of the lease on the property

March 2011 and it's still there...my girlfriend and I explored the site last week and it is still an eerie post-apocalyptic zombie land. The highlight of our adventure had to have been the "show" alligators that were cruising around the park that have made themselves at home at the park post-storm. You can the video montage of our adventure on our page. The video is titled "Abandoned Six Flags New Orleans Short Film." True Blood fans will enjoy it :)
Right where you were standing in the beginning was where I first learned about how if you find a face up penny it's considered lucky. Ah, the memories.
I used to go there all the time during the summer and loved the park; but there is something cool about the way the bayou is rapidly reclaiming the area. I might have to go check it out myself.

@ahnbra They were too much damage on it by katrina. I do think the mayor wanted it reopend,
but did'nt happen.

That animal you speak of is a Wild Boar. Several live in the abandoned park. Several alligators live in the lake, as well.
