I remember this. They told him to start- and he didn't know they were on the air..and there was about a 15 second awkward pause of dead air, but then he knocked it out of the park... great job. American Idol is the one significant program of the 2000s.

On the record, he's singing and playing on a higher key- E flat. But here he's playing only C sharp. In a previous video, I heard him singing in the key of C. I think he can't really sing that high and in the studio, the record people probably increases the pitch of the record to make it sound better.
