  • I think I will be able to play this song like in 15 years-.-

  • My question is how do you practice this with a metronome

  • @superdog797 The intro and outro solos are in Free time and the rest of the song is 4/4 time.

  • Still to fast mate.

  • Shit, I can't play it even in 50% of the speed...

  • every time i try and play this i simply give up all hope but no not this time Im going to learn this weather it takes me my entire life!!

  • was eric johnson's playing at the end just there to destroy all our hopes and dreams of ever learning this song?

  • tab too fast :S lol =would be better if it scrolled at a set speed

  • tab too fast :S lol

  • Really good video, nice work there, only thing was your guitar tone is disgusting, but other than that great job.

  • @McAccident Dude the song actually is suppose to sound like that. He has the correct tone (EJ's tone)

  • thanks!!

  • thank you so much mr absopitch!!! :)

  • I noticed you hardly used your pinkie finger... is that how eric johnson plays it too?

  • @killingspree Do the way u feel its the best.

  • como esta configurados los pedales

  • I just came

  • what is the main scale he uses?

and what are the scales he uses for the intro, second, and outro solos?

PLEASE I need to learn it

I have less than a month and i know a can play it

    i just need the scales

  • @chmaiv13 the scales he uses are basically Em and Em Pentatonic combined... the only thing is is that they're not scales... he is constantly string and note skipping and he uses tons of arpeggios.

  • The songs key is G major. You didn't have to say E minor. E minor and G major are the same scales. The only difference is the mode.

  • @justinhoman well who's to say which it is in since it's the same thing. and anyway i said Em cuz that's the MODE he uses smartass.

  • @francobini It's easy to tell which mode is when. The song is predominantly all the Ionian mode of G, gives it the general happy feel. Then the solo kicks in which is the aeolian mode, the relative minor to it. It has a complete different feel and sound, which is bluesy. You can tell them apart incredibly easily. That's why modes exist. To change the sound but pertain to a certain signature to reflect the chords used. Open a music book dude.

  • @justinhoman look as i said before that is completely irrelevant! i know what modes what part of the song is in and i'm glad you could show off your rudimentary musical theory skills but i was saying that the intro scale ON A GUITAR is the minor pentatonic with slight variations. i.e. an f# mostly. chmaiv13 only asked what SCALES. not what MODES.

  • @francobini The intro scale, being not only guitar, but EVERY instrument is Gmaj Pentatonic. Which I said many times that the key is G. Check the positions for Gmaj pentatonic. Its not F#, the only time its around F# position is during the 2nd position of the Gmaj Pentatonic scale, which starts on the G note (E string). If you've caught on by now, Gmaj pentatonic starts on E. Which would make Gmaj & Emin have the same patterns. Rudimentary? No, Its called to GIT. P.S. Scales ARE modes dummy.

  • @francobini Sry to but in on Ur convo, but @justinhoman is technically right. The key is G major, that makse it have the relative key of E minor. And also vice versa. The intro solo starts on the 12th fret position of Eminor pentatonic, which is G major pentatonic btw. Then it goes to the third position of the scale on the 5th fret, then drops down to the open 1st position. You can also play it on the 2nd position of G maj thats easier to hammer on, that cascades down frets 2 & 5 :)

  • @chmaiv13 I'm guessing you're still trying to learn this song right? It would take a long time to learn this song. A month won't cut it.

  • Where did you get your tab from? Did you make it yourself? because you have too many notes in the intro solo. Also, the intro solo has a time signature of 4/4 when its supposed to be in Free time, which is one of the reasons you have too many notes. I'm only referring to the first 2 bars of the song alone, I could continue but such a daunting task would be too cumbersome.

  • oh yeah and where are the pick ups on your guitar?

  • @jeffibmx17 The pickups are piezos at the bridge

  • how long have you been playing guitar? cause i just started about 6 months ago but i dont care if i'm not good enough yet, i still need to learn this song

  • @jeffibmx17 Man, I have been playing for three and a half years and I play a lot everyday (not to brag) but it is taking me almost an hour just to memorize some of those riffs. I am just trying to learn it now, I would recommend you wait a little while on this one. but if you can, definitely make a video!

  • What are your settings on the Pod X3Live? Cheers

  • I think Mac was inspirated in your brain.....

Very clear to understand. Excellent sound and video captures.

  • GTO

  • lol owned the guitar hero kid

  • yeah im sorry i didnt know it was 50 but can u make it a little slower thanks o and nice video helped me learn!

  • you should have put it in 50 or 60 not 70 and 80 its still to fast but still thanks.

  • @ownageguitar If you check the video again you'll see on the right side it says the first time slow is 80%, the second time is 50%...but sure, I'll make it slower for the next part. You can still look at the tab & music if there's any doubt, pause or ask.
