  • I remember that graphics were the best ! haha

  • I have heard some rumors going around that Sega might do something to celebrate NiGHTS' 15th Birthday.

  • You can't imagine how happy I was when I heard this song in Bellbridge.

  • Want this game so bad

  • so mario galaxy.....

  • @frampie64 Not at all. This came out way before the first one.

  • Why the fuck didn't america get the ps2 version???

  • that over shooting after you fly back up in the air really threw me off at first. I know the original sega saturn version didn't have that glitch.

Wonderful game though! It's a real shame Sega just keeps ignoring it. Just port this game to the PSN or XBLA or something, there's no excuse, not after the PS2 remake.

  • THEY NEED TO RELEASE THIS TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN ENGLISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES1!!!

  • this game was so dreamy like Sailor Moon. Love that idea it keeps the imagination ALIVE LOVE IT!

  • 0:14-0:30 Reminds me of some track in Fear Effect 2. I think it was the last boss theme.

  • SyriusBelsferg, thanks for the Help!! Now that I finally have the stuff I need to try it, and it doesn't work!!, But my PS2 can do it! For the people who gave me the negatives on my last comment, I have no regrets on what I said, because I was thinking out of the Box, and no one else didn't say anything about my idea!!!

  • IS ANYBODY THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX?????? Why is it that nobody is asking, if this game can be played on

PS3 60gig or 20 gig (usa version) - NOT ON NSTC mode, But if this (Nights Jap. ver PS2 game) can be played on the HD mode 1080i or 1080 p & etc?? My USA PS3 60gig can play PS2 games on a high resoultion HD mode instead on NTSC! If I had a copy of the game, I would try to see if it works! Once again, Has anybody tried to play this game on a USA PS3 20 or 60gig in HD mode?

  • @seaco2000

It will not play. The game is region-locked to Japan, and USA PS3s will refuse to boot it, regardless of what the display mode is. Trust me, I tried. You're better off chipping a PS2, going the HD Loader route or Swap Magic. Sorry.

  • Best game of all time and so underrated! Sega has the best music for games. I get this feeling everytime i hear it.

  • The PS2 graphic upgrade was the reason I was so disappointed in the sequel releasing on the Wii. Nights is a visual/musical experience, PS3 and X360 would have been much better choices.

  • What the hell was wrong with the Wii sequel?

It was bright, colorful, and pretty damn good looking save for the dreary hubworld.

Granted it would positively phenomenal on a console.... ahem, made specifically for graphical greatness but the sequel is fine as it is.

I'm sick of all this hate for the sequel. There's nothing wrong with it. There's no waggle, the control is just fine, it's bright, dreamy, full of all kinds of great locales and enemies, and the story is fairy tale fine.

  • @HyperSonicSquall the problem was the needless gameplay changes they thrust on us. one of the things that was charming about the original nights was that it was just you flying around, unless you either screwed up or chose to do a mare as one of the kids.

it didnt PLAY like nights was meant to. granted it's been a while since i played what little i did, but there was too much..."new" stuff that ruined the old formula that was so amazing about the first game.

  • What is this "new" stuff that ruined the formula prey tell?

The first stages of each level are the same as in the original game, except instead of hunting orbs you were chasing a bird, with a generous time limit. Same stuff. You might have a point with the other stages in each level but I thought they were just quaint little challenges there to help extend the game.

You still fly around just fine and you can explore as the kids. What's the problem?

  • @HyperSonicSquall that's the thing though, chasing the bird is nothing like the original game's levels. the original game, you could go through the course as many times as you had time left, and you did it for fun/building score. the level's done once you catch the birds.

plus, if they wanted game extension, they could have made skill based challenges, time trials, or even threw in a free roam style thing as nights, which would have been welcome.

  • @HyperSonicSquall on top of the gameplay changes, where's the tie-ins to the previous game? what happened with Claris and Elliot? for all the plot they threw in, they never once mentioned the other two saviors of nightopia. and if this was some form of prequel, why is it that all we get of hints of C and E are just character swaps? and only after getting all the collectables? it's like they said "fuck that other game".

  • What are these gameplay changes you speak of?

And huh? It's been so long, roughly a decade. Why should they and we care about Claris and Elliot? Their story is done, they did what they did. This isn't really a chronological sequel. It's a sequel in the same sense as every zelda game is a sequel, another look at a timeless story.

  • @HyperSonicSquall the problem with that statement is that Zelda is a VERY long series. that, and this is Sega we're talking about. hell all the SONIC games have ties to one another, even if only in the manuals. We should care about Claris and Elliot because they were the first powerful dreamers to make a dent in Wiseman's plan. kinda like how the Sages were the ones to seal Ganondorf the first time around, we at least should be told what became of them.

  • You missed the point entirely.

NiGHTS wii is a spiritual sequel, not a chronological sequel. It would've been nice if it were a straight-up sequel but it's just fine how it is.

  • @HyperSonicSquall i wouldnt say i missed the point entirely. Blaze Blue is a spiritual sequel. Nights Wii is a fake sequel. nice little thing in its own right, yes, i'll agree with that. but at the least they could have given us a small little timeframe, or at least mention of the other two dreamers. my biggest problem is honestly the lack of plot for the first game. so we fans dont really know what happened to the first two dreamers.

  • Once again, you completely miss the point..

And I also don't see why we would need to know anything about Claris and Elliot, their story was completed without any loose ends. Yes, it would please the fans but then again, fans are dip shits who'll never be grateful for anything you give them.

Oddly enough that matches my feelings of the xenophobia towards the wii game.

  • @HyperSonicSquall well it would have been nice if they made like a character profile book for some people who did want more of an insite on the characters. i really wish to see more of the nightmare world and maybe to more know more on jackle. yeah the game was perfect but it would be kinda neat to know just a little more on some of the nightmarens but hey I'm just happy i can play nights still wouldn't it be neat if they did make that. I'm not saying they should just that it would be neat.

  • @HyperSonicSquall We should care about Claris and Elliot because their hair colors are blue and pink. And: Blue + Pink = Purple. Purple = NiGHTS.

... I'm not sure what I just proved, but it was something. I think. :D

  • @Offertory

    mind=blown

  • @HyperSonicSquall i agree the only thing i don't like is how the racing & battle are only 2P and not 1P vs. Com. and how there's no one on Wi-Fi, and how some stages are hard to get A-ranks on (but that's just me!)

and it would also be nice if I could play as Reala

    But anyway i like it

  • @HyperSonicSquall I liked the sequel too. It wasn't as polished as the original was and I didn't like the new "dream masks" thing, but it wasn't bad by any means.

  • dude why don't we have this game dam u japan

  • the songs sounds like from sonic adventure dx the mini pinball stage.

  • This looks like a beautiful improvement. I want a copy even if it is Japanese!

  • Geez you kick ass at this! I suck at the game, but it's still my favorite ever. XD

Hey, does the screen still go to that blue thing if you keep flying up past the tower? It does that in the Saturn. ^-^

  • OMG that graphic improvement is unbeleivable

  • see, it's even clearer here. It's so obvious they were going to make some form of Sequel. Wiseman doesnt go kablooey like the others!

  • lol the sequel's been out for about a year

  • that's not a sequel. that tripe is nowhere NEAR good enough to be considered a sequel. another story? Yes. another night, another dream? sure. but it doesnt continue the tale of Claris nor Elliot, and as far as i'm aware, mentions little to nothing about them.

Though i'll say this. Reala looks badass in JoD.

  • holy crap, NiGHTS for PS2, gotta get this

  • sorry. It's japan exclusive.

  • The PS2 Version Of NIGHTS Into Dreams Has Better Grafics Than The Last One

  • Why did you capitalize every word?

  • Awesome fast finish!

  • I love NiGHTS. I've played NiGHTS in Saturn when I was a child. I always wanted to have Christmas NiGHTS. As time passes, I've a sequel to her previous adventure NiGHTS Journey of Dreams. Hey is it possibly that NiGHTS into Dreams PS2 version can work on the USA PS2?

  • they need to release this on VC for Wii. JoD was a good game but the future generation needs to know what NiGHTS was like before sega discovered they could put really horrible low grade voice acting and cutscenes in games. and before those God awful platforming stages they put in JoD

  • I remember playing this with the standard Saturn Controller. Man, my hand ached! Those were the days... why Sega (Sonic Team) didn't just release a graphically enhanced version of the original on the Wii, I'll never know.

I think using the Wii Remote like a pointer and "guiding" NiGHTS around would've been great (along with the option to use a Gamecube Controller, Classic Controller or the Nunchuk of course)...

  • I remember playing this game religiously when I was a kid. This vid brings back some great memories of simpler times.

  • aw i really want this. do you need to mod a ps2 to play imports or can u just use a gameshark or somthing like on the saturn or dreamcast?

  • Good memories

  • Wow...it looks really fluid compared to the Wii sequel. I remember playing this on the Sega Saturn. Are the controls just as clunky, or are they free as the good ol' NiGHTS vets remember them?

  • I never understood the whole sprite of Wizeman going "HMMPH!" part, always found it a bit odd. ;p

  • He's trying to keep the dreamers and their ideya away from NiGHTS.

  • Awesome!
