  • The Pro3 has noticeable CW DSP artifacts! Many have talked about his on the internet, especially on eHam.

  • Any DSP processing results in what you have described. I use the minimum amount of DSP needed to help ensure a reliable signal.

My favorite use of DSP is that it can considerably reduce band noise. That helps minimize operator fatigue during long contests.

  • Icom has discontinued the Pro3 in favor of the new IC-7600. BUT you're going from a $2700 (street) price tag to about $3850 (street) for the new 7600. That's a HUGE jump for many.

  • The Pro3 was a huge jump for me since I had an IC-718 before this one. If it weren't for tax-free status for a year I would never have been able to afford it.

  • really looking forward to picking up a Pro III. Kinda torn between it and a Flex 5000

  • You can't go wrong with either I guess. I do like having a radio I can pick up and run without a computer. OTOH, the Flexradio receiver is super cool. 73!

  • It's a very good rig... 73
