Still have my eyes and ears open for it. Its crazy, but I once waited two years before I found a particular version of the old Classic 'Plastic Dreams' by Jaydee. Found it in SF just by chance one day at a record shop. I may have to contact Louie Vega somehow and ask him about it directly. I know Jesse Saunders, so maybe I'll ask him to get it touch with Louie for me if he has time.
Um..Yeah. I would rather have heard the band play this live without this guy singing over it. Louie Vega did a mix with a live jazz version of Hot Music along with the classic house version. Ive been looking for the live version every since. It was amazing. The search continues...
Like I say, playing a faithful recreation of Hot Music probably wasn't the point... I happened to notice that that's the beat they were playing.. it was an improv thing out of the Bilal song 'Reminisce'.
I dont think they were trying to recreate Soho Hot Music as an authentic cover version. It was an interpretation of the Bilal song Reminisce that freestyled into the Soho beat. Was wicked the way they did it.. im sure it's not an easy beat to play live either...
This might have sounded like a good idea, but he is straight butchering this classic. Maybe it was better live with the energy, and the crowd but right here, right now -- it aint soundin too good!
