  • Did the audio for this track come from the sound board mike inputs?

  • @chuckschilling Recorded off stereo outputs on sound board and two over head mics

  • Great sound and picture quality; thanks for posting.

  • Love this song...played it too much and got pissed off at my brother when he was making fun of me...LOVE IT!!

  • some people think that bowling alley's got big lanes..... The best....

  • Brings back memories, thanks for posting this tune.

  • I LOVE YOUTUBE!

  • Must be tricky playing fiddle and singing at the same time.

  • @The1hope4all thats what I was thinking

  • Unbelievable how such a fucked up song can get caught in One's mind and that's all the person can hum and snicker about it all day man ! It's great !

  • Cool.

    From Moscow.

  • It appears that the 7 people who disliked this video/song are skinheads that never got to bowl.

  • This has nothing to do with skins??????

  • i luv this song XD my study hall teacher played it every day for a month in the last month of the school year. loved it!!!!

  • What a wonderfully silly song. I just discovered it a few months ago and love it.

  • I wanna go bowling with skinheads and play this song in the car on the way haha

  • can anyone tell me wtf this song is about?

  • What's up with the granny glasses? Now I feel old.

  • @tjsbigidea You know David Lowry is 50 now, right? In great shape though, and still quite hot.

  • Just saw the beginning to "Bowling for Columbine," amazing song.

  • 14/88

  • I love Bowling! OI!

  • I was a skinhead back in the 80's. Our joke back then was that we were going to let the college art fags take us bowling.

  • I thought it was obvious first time I heard this what 25 years ago. Think about it" take the skinheads bowling" Brilliant . Thanks for the upload.

  • Any idea when this was filmed?

    Ace tune

  • @chr1ssboy Aug 17th, 2007 in Santa Cruz CA

  • Have always loved these guys!!! Saw them in '88... excellent show!

  • Its more a social comment than political, and many of the best songs do that

  • :44 they all look the same way

  • Bowling for Columbine intro.

  • this is great, instant classic, really good stuff, good mood. let´s bowl the skinheads out of this world.

  • Great Song... and they just look THRILLED to play it...

  • Holy Crap...does youth come flowing back listening to that.

  • @jtcolfax Yep n it's scary it was just yesterday. I met most of these guys. They never tired of meeting thir fans back in the day.

  • this song actually makes me want to take some skinheads bowling. it sounds fun :)

  • It was so weird to see them as an adult. I felt like I took a time machine to the show. Hard to believe we are all getting so old.

  • Thanks for posting, Tradestaff. A fantastic song, and I had never heard a live version before. Cheers.

  • @stevenpbrindle Thanks for the compliment

  • I like the angle at the end with all the strings/vocalists together

  • smooth sounds of rape

  • You know, after finding this clip, I looked for covers. And the amazing thing is, for such a silly, simple song, it's not easy to do right! I'm beginning to realize that this song is like some of the Ramones stuff: simple isn't the same as easy, and the dumbest stuff on face value can have a lot of hidden complexity.

...That was way too deep for "Take the Skinheads Bowling". But I think it's actually the case!

  • @amandazillah

    Excellent Comment

  • @amandazillah Teenage Fan Club used to cover this, not sure if there's a version on YouTube.

  • @amandazillah Teenage Fan Club uswd to cover it, don't know if there's a version on YouTube.

  • @jerrythebarman I did see on briefly, but honestly, I never liked Teenage Fanclub much. Oh well.

  • @amandazillah What do you mean? It's a great song, and it's easy! It's three chords. Three chords. Repeated in an unvarying pattern. I've never played this before and I know how to play it. It couldn't be any easier.

  • @amandazillah Same with Nirvana! Everyone complains that Kurt was bad at guitar, and the chords are so easy and simple, but it really isn't.. he could play them in a way no one else could.

  • @amandazillah

How many bad versions of Smells Like Teen Spirit have been done. I know I heard enough when I was younger. Totally agree btw.

  • @amandazillah i thought the "Dead kennedys" did this song

    \

  • great stuff just a song no meaning behind it at least i dont think so just catchy with a nice melody nice, relaxing, and fun

  • This is just FUN music! Makes you feel alive on the drive to work in the morning! It always made my morning driving to Ghent manufacturiing in Ohio in the early morning hours! The factory used to keep 97x , in Oxford , Ohio cranked with this stuff all the time! i'm 45 now, and still love it! Tks, Shawn!

  • Maybe they're suggesting it's a nice charitable thing to take skinheads bowling.

  • Hier muss auch mal ein deutscher Kommentar hin: Last die Köpfe rollen!!!!!!!

  • hooded !!! cripes

  • sweeeet one of my favs of all time

simple song but someone needs to keep the skinheads occupied, you know , keep hodded youth of the street etc. etc.

    beautiful song

  • shweeeet!

  • whats the point of the violinist ! can you really hear him ? great song though

  • i love CVB

  • i love that the violinist does backing vocals!

  • I've heard that Portland is the skinhead capital of America... which I guess kind of makes this song make a little more sense to me than it once did. Though it's lyrics are really disjointed and abstract and really have nothing to do with skinheads. Great song nontheless.

Everybody's coming home for lunch these days.

  • luved these years back & still do

  • This is a great band and a great song.

  • :D awesome song, anyway.

  • My band used to play this song cos it's sofa king funny and people loved it!

  • @blindonion LOL, sofa king!

  • I had a dream - I wanted to lick your knees

  • hahah! camper van!

  • is this the version that is on bowling for columbine?

  • The version on Bowling for Columbine is by Teenage Fanclub

  • Is it a DRM issue that keeps the original concept video from getting posted? I loved the scenes with the skinheads actually bowling!

  • COOL

  • "Got big lanes! Got big lanes!"

  • Yes. That kills me.

  • no sorry I do not

  • It's a classic song from the 80's underground. I'm not sure Dave Lowery differentiates, but you could always email him to find out. Since the song was written well before 1987, I doubt he even considered SHARPs.

  • ...or perhaps politics has nothing to do with it and he's just writing a catchy, surreal song about some skinheads who go bowling.

You don't have to support any particular political views to enjoy bowling, do you?

  • @Sesquipedaliantique i think its more simple that people make it.

its just means take the skin heads bowling and its that simple

  • @Sesquipedaliantique

No but if you are a Bachmann loving Republican fascist twat its having a dig dumbo

  • @grizzle100

Gee - equating Republicans to fascists. As a Reagan era punk I've certainly never seen that before (rolls eyes).

  • @tangosierra7

Interesting the republican Tea party is very right wing. Religion, country , justice(?) was part of the mantra of Franco. Indeed they bear many of the hallmarks of the prewar right in the US which was supportive of Mussolini and Franco. This of course is not Nazism but rather authoritarian hard right politics with its base in disaffected socially dominant cultures such as the southern whites in the US.

  • and me four....

  • what will credability be worth when ya lie in ya grave, if someone wants to hear ya play then why not, come on now the british public voted winston churchill as no 1 inspiration and isaac newton nowhere, do you know the credibility shut off value , i hope ya dont

  • i bet they play better than u

  • When did I say they couldn't?

Difference is that I know when not to subject people to aural torture, so I don't inflict my bad singing and playing on them!!! :-)

  • i donno, i felt like saying that so i did, do u play guitar?

  • love 'em so much.

  • Me too.

  • me three.

  • santa cruz fav's
