SRT Mark, I don't know what you are talking about or where you work, but the point behind the video is spot on. Are we really going to do PROM on a dead person, of course not, but is there pressure to get the minutes whatever it takes, yes. That is why it is so funny.
Any therapist who feels that this is representative of how they feel working in the skilled nursing environment should join the grassroots movement, RTC SNF Rehab Therapists for Change. Find it on facebook!
This is hysterical! I am a PTA & my Rehab team watched this vid at work & we we're all cracking up. Anyone who thinks this video is an exaggeration obviously hasn't worked in a SNF. This is so on point. We sometimes morbidly joke that we would be asked to do 'post-mortem' range of motion if the patient is in assessment. Sick...but that's the reality of healthcare.
I'm a PT also and this is hilarious. Its true when companies are pushing the rug scores. It's a bit extreme but if you are a therapist in skilled care you understand it. I laughed so hard!!
It portrays PT's a bit bizarrely but it's still right on. If they don't get their alloted time with a patient, they lose their job. My dad's an OT and he has to do whatever it takes to get his time in so he can keep his job. Anyone who says it's bull either isn't a therapist or hasn't been in a nursing home setting.
Funny and sad but somewhat true. Companies push, push, push for those treatment minutes when the patient is in assessment. Not looked at anymore as a patient but a "payer source".
@salserasexydpr - This was way too funny - As a Rehab Director in a large SNF (7 PTs & 4 LPTAs etc etc), I have had some therapists act like this. (This is called “Sarcasm”). - Come on - Admit it ==> All of us therapists unfortunately have acted at some point in our careers, like prima donna ninnies. (This is called “Sarcasm”).
@salserasexydpr Don't think this is about the PT as it is the system. I've seen it all too often. Facilities push so hard to get the ultra high and it leads to this kind of thing.
I'm lucky I work in a building where therapists and nursing work well together...mostly! There are always a few exceptions. I think this video is abolutely hilarious. Therapists are constantly under pressure from their directors and administrators to "get the RUG" We have all been asked to continue to treat the sick and almost dying patient for the benefit of the almighty dollar.
This is a hilarious spoof on subacute rehab where the therapist is pushed to get "therapy minutes" to qualify the patient for a certain RUG level. (in other words, the acuity level that directs reimbursement from Medicare). I'm a PT and I am still laughing. Great job!
I'm a therapist and I think it's hilarious. Rarely a day goes by that someone doesn't say at least once "I only need the patient for an hour. There are 23 hours in the day that his blood could have been drawn, so why does it have to be done when he's scheduled for therapy?"
I have never responded to a video other than my families videos however this one begs for a response. Are we not all healthcare workers? Are we not all there to take care of the patients? Are any of our jobs not important? Yes is the answer to all of those questions and having been a nurse for 28 years, I am beyond thankful for all of the therapy departments as I hope they are thankful for us. The patients are thankful for all of us. Seriously though, this is just funny!
@85jennifer we are working in one area... and thank you for appreciating PTs job... and we PTs are thankful for nurses as well..=)yes... the video is really fun.. were not that bad..=)
I like this video. It is true that therapists can be pushy, but it also shows how difficult it can be to deal with some of these nurses. COTAs ROCK!!!
Relax melvindrury! It's supposed to be humerous! I'm a therapist and I can find the humor in it! You know we can be obnoxious and pushy when we have minutes we need to get!! Really think it's worth cutting on the nursing profession?! ? Lighten up!!
You can tell this was made by another dumb nurse who has no idea what PT is. I bet she has a back problem and is obese like most nurses. PT's can check vitals too (as can any entry level medical worker) and have a broader education when it comes to pathologies. Nice try you glorified PEZ dispenser.
I'm a DPT & This is Funny!

1. Not accurate at all
2. If you have a therapist like this, they should be re-enrolled back in high school and just start over.
3. I'm a therapist and I've never seen this behavior out of other therapists
4. The're great and horrible employees in every profession
5. As far as a laugh, yep i laughed haha
