Plugs are definitely advisable - but so is titling a video more accurately. "BBC Breakfast" should have been in this video's title - I was expecting M/A/R/R/S!
I didn't put "BBC Breakfast" in the title for fear of the clip getting pulled, it IS in the Description. This was originally uploaded as I teach at the Birmingham Conservatoire and this item includes interviews with my students.
I got severe tinnitus when I was 23, please believe me when I say, I WISHED I COULD HAVE DIED! I felt like I was being tortured! Imagine a noise you can never turn off, people never understanding as they can't see the hell your going through. Now I'm 43, not been able to go to a club, cinema, concert etc since I was 23, stopped my life in it's tracks, I'm not married, no children. Please understanf listening to loud music is just NOT worth it. If clubs etc just turned volume down it would help.
I was going to a disco from the age of 16 in the 80's, do you really think that I and every other teenager in the 80's walked into a disco with earplugs in? That's just ridiculous! We never even knew they existed! P. S. Thanks for your sympathy! :- (
yeah well, i've had major sounds in my ears after i've been out, allmost everytime they have disappeared to the day after. but i do indeed have a constant tone tone in my right ear since i dunno when. i'm happy that i noticed it early and have tried to stayed plugged all the time since that night. i've been listening to a lecturer with hearing problems several times just to remind myself to save my hearing. you should do that, travel and tell young people about your experience
i know that i shudn't say this as i am also a music tech student, but some music is best listened to loud and re-designing ear plugs is never going to make them 'cool' or 'fashionable' would be the point in going clubbing and not hearing the music you want to dance too.
what gets me is that as music tech students we are told to monitor at very loud levels (85dB if i remember correctly?) because that is the point at which the ears frequency response is at its most flat. hold on a sec...arnt we meant to look after our ears? how ironic
