Kai Hansen started a band called Gentry with Piet Sielk in 1978, and they eventually became Helloween.

He is the true founder of power metal. When he wrote songs like "Metal Invaders" not even the first Iron Maiden album had come out.

Metal artist are very musical. They know what they are doing. I would say Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray have similarities but also great differences in their sound.

They try things and mostly it sounds real great. Some refer to Valhalla, and is there anyone that dislike it? Personally I love it.

And GR's music is more straight. BG uses so many layers of guitar's etc. Still good, but it makes a bit difference in the sound.

Love them both, great musicians.

Screw Through the Fire and Flames, if everybody heard "Fight" then this album would be the most successful, not the inhuman dickpage. I would know, i used to like dragonforce a lot, then i discovered true power metal, Helloween, stratovarius, gamma ray, Rhapsody of Fire, all those great bands, that's what real power metal is, not some super fast riff that sounds the same almost every song, and all lyrics are about fire/fighting/fighting with fire....Power metal is way better than that.

Why is it that whenever power metal is mentioned, people always bring up Dragonforce? They've been getting too much undeserved hype, while some of the better power metal bands are seemingly left out of these conversations.

Sonata Arctica, Angra, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Edguy, and of course GAMMA RAY. That's where it's at. DragonForce are alright, but can't even compare with the greats.

Dragonforce Isn't Speed Metal at all. Not because Dragonforce appears to play fast that it is Speed Metal - just like not because a band like TBDM has high notes and some melody that it is necessarly Melo/Death. Speed Metal is Sped up Thrash Metal. There aren't any elements of Thrash in DForce.

Still a good band and unique stile but not Speed Metal.
