  • Would it be more worth my time to just buy the digitizer+glass pre-assembled? I don't think the extra ten dollars is worth an hour to peel off glass

  • Very well played! Watched every part. Thanks for that! I have a broken screen myself.

CAN ANYONE HELP????

  • MR. GETTER!!!!!!! I graduated from Hopkins last year! I didn't know u had a YouTube channel!!!!!!!

  • hey can anyone help i think ive stuffed my iphone 3g replacing the digitizer, i had replaced teh digitizer put the phone back to together but noticed that the home button was not working properly i took it apart and found the issues being a peice of rubber inbetween the connector, as i put the phone back together i accidentally turned it on

after just placing the number 1 cable back on as i tried to turn the phone back off the cable fell off the connector and since i cannot get it to turn on

  • Nice job guys now it's my turn

  • you guys are awesome. it was good to see someone have as difficult a time as i did. your videos were very helpful and i thank you.

  • This is great guys! Thanks so much!!!

  • Nice.

  • You cannot afford iphone 4? There is giveaway at gifter7, com Go and get yours

    I like it

  • i cant get wire 2 to fit right. it wont click in and when i turn on my phone every thing works but the touch. when i open it up and push in wire 2 again it zooms in the screen and randomly touches buttons. how can i get it to fit!

  • what did you do with the rubber that fills in the space betwen the screen in the phone bumper?

  • ok so it took me three hours to replace totally not your fault the company never sent me a screw driver but i finally found other things to use. i did almost break it cause i didnt think i had the tabs in the right place but i got it and im soo happy i did it myself and all it cost me was $10 and three hours of my life lol but thanks your video did help alot

  • 1:22 oh it broke hahaha that's funny

  • ok after all that.. my screen is all white...What do i do now??

  • @freepetti05 Sounds like you messed up putting in the connectors I think, either that or you damaged the LCD.

  • Ugh can't get nr 3 in *sigh*

  • I watched all 5 vids. Will come in handy when im going to replace the bezel/back housing and dock connector. Also got a digitalizer but i wait for my original one to break first. btw its an 3gs i have but most of the things is the same.

    Thanks alot.

  • Thank you for this vid, It took me a few hours and I had to buy new screwdrivers when I realized that the ones i got in the package didn't fit the screws to the frame, perhaps that is only the package I got from Mailshop.se

  • Great Video!!!

  • watch?v=lEwyHhCu1Ow

  • good video fellas .... don't listen to these people and thier bad comments ...this vid was very detailed and quite funny lol.

  • thanks guys, it rely worked , I manage to chnge the broken sreen, :)))))))

  • Thanks for taking the time to make these videos! I bought a used 3g with a cracked screen for my wife. I ordered the parts kit from Amazon with tools for $20 shipped. It took me about an hour and a half to complete, but you guys helped tremendously. Those darn connectors were the hardest part for me to get to pop in.

    Thanks again!

  • Really good video guys welldone i fixed mine whie watching this video it saved me so much money thankyou so much

  • did mine under one hour thanks for the help

  • did mine under 1 hour...... thanks for the help

  • I seem to have done everything ok, except I can't get the #2 cable to lock into place. I have jiggled and slid until I am all jiggled out. Any suggestions ?

  • @mybirdbrain You may have the wrong screen assembly for your phone. The iphone and iphone 3g screens are exactly the same, but they use barely different sized connectors.

  • you mean this very long session lol i like the way you didnt edit a lot this would be helpful for people who are stuck because you explain your problems so we can learn from your mistakes

  • Thank you very much, highly appreciated ;p

  • Man I don't know how to thank y'all, I just replaced my screen. I followed every step on these videos, it was like a walk in the park (a long walk). Without these vids I would have been one of those peeps that crack their LCD screen in the process. Thanks again for the videos, peace out.

  • Used this tutorial and it walked me through the process perfectly. Great work guys!

  • USAiTunesGiftCards . COM Says it all !

  • Thanks a lot for this video. Screw all those guys saying its boring. This is the most helpful video on youtube for fixing a screen on exactly because it is so long and you show all of the steps. Thanks!

  • how long did u take to fix this glass

  • thanks guys..

  • thanks for the real time demo/instructions. helped me tremendously!

  • I just shattered my iphone's glass today and purchased the products from the same company you did. These videos you made look extremely helpful! Thanks for posting this up on the net.

  • i did mine but now the touch screendoesntpick up on certain areas like ill press the 4 and the 6 will be pressed on the other side of the screen :( ill have to takeit back apart andtry and figure it out

  • awesome. really informative guys, i like that you explain exactly what you're doing.

  • Thank you for sharing your adventure I am going to give it a go

  • @RissaRiot3

Yeah,my favorite feature for the iPhone 4g would probably be the flash and also maybe more megapixels on camera

Alot of you watchin' this video simply can't afford Apples latest iPhone, it's just going to cost alot

Your in luck I learned on Apples face book page last week they are giving away a few thousand iPhone 4gs. Oh and, heres the link to Apples iPhone 4g giveaway page copy and paste

Alot of people Reading this comment don't have the cash money to buy new iPhone, it's just going to cost alot

But I discovered on the Apple website Thursday they are giving away a few thousand iPhone 4gs. Save ya some time, heres the link to Apples contest website ... just copy and paste

    voomr。com/iphone4gfree104

And the for the second part is FACEBOOK2826

  • You guys are life savers!

I had large dust particles under the glass cover for ages and it was driving me bonkers. But by following your video (except the part how to open the phone. I used a rubber suction cup to prevent damage of the rubber lining around the glass) I manages to slowly but surely take my phone apart, remove the dust, and most importantly, put it back together and it WORKS.. thank you again!

  • haha that was my dad that put that comment. i asked him to fix my phone..

  • very very helpful thanks so much I DID IT!!!!!!!

  • Def. is one of the most enjoyable iPhone repair vids out there. And like you said in the begining of the vid. If you cant do it, the average Joe probably cant.... So i´m going to dive right in to it :D

But my glass is WAY more cracked... looks like a nice mosaic... :P

anyways... good job, well done guys.

  • YOU GUYS R THE BEST!!!! have not found any videos even close to this on the net. Thank you guys for showing us the steps....ONE thing though, i think if you would of set the blow dryer next to the phone and let it do its thing, instead of blow drying it by hand it would of helped out. oh, and other vidz DON'T tell you, you NEED the Digitizer adhesive iPhone strips...(got mine, 3M brand on e-bay for only $3.95 "buy now" not bid) THANK GOD I WATCHED THIS VID! :D

  • @starsdb When we made the repair, there was no other documented repair video available. You are right, we could have recklessly tore it apart and possibly fixed it more quickly. Read the comments (for instance the last two), many people who did it recklessly wrecked their phone. The point of us making the video was to show uncut what we did to fix ours. It was not intended to be entertainment.

  • @GetterScott i agree guys! It shows how careful you must be and certainly shows that removing the glass and all is not as easy as showed in other 5min videos.

    It was really helpful!

  • @starsdb shutthe fuck up its really expensive they didnt want to brake it

  • @starsdb Paint drying? Uhm, i love paint drying cos i got no iphone. I want this video about paint drying! =D

  • Brilliant practical repair video. I bought the new screen with body included after watching your video The hair dryer section seemed a little bit to tricky. The total repair time was halved and it was fairly straight forward. Great video Yous still saved me $250 for a new phone.

  • broke my lcd on my 3gs. Wish i would of watched this video before. DAMN!!! It works but now i have a broken lcd. Gotta invest in 50 bucks now. Back to ebay

  • Hi, so this was a long trip:) I stayed with you until the end, even if the glass is peeled off about a lot of work, my iPhone is cracked, and I wanted to do the repair myself but I think it probably will not do:) But of course, very nice document. Thank you.

  • I am totally confident i can do this after watching your vids!! Thanks so much for making this. If your ever in scranton pa its beers on me guys!! Two thumbs up!!

  • word, this video works, i cleaned my screen, wasnt broken, just had some wierd gunk in the middle of the screen, took it out, and its squeeky clean, but the thing i dont noe how to fix is the lcd, its not broken from this process, but it broke severel days ago, the touch screen doesnt work but the lcd is in tact. Help if ya know

  • Yep....broke my LCD. Wish I would have watched the entire video before fixing my phone!

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • this video was very help full i used it to fix my Sim card holder Problems and i had a bit of trouble with the ribbon number 3 gave me a bit of a hassle but in the end i got it to work =)

  • yea, excellent instructions.. just finished!

  • i just reasembled my iphone 3g and it does not charge...it shows the low battery sign on screen and I put in my charger and it does not charge...can you help me?

  • congratulations! great work!

  • Incredible, we would never have been able to do this properly without your directions, your video covered everything the others missed. Thanks alot!

  • great video! cheers!

  • wow u guys r awesome ..its not as easy as i thought

    thanks

  • P.S.: Use a suction cup after removing outer 2 screws to separate glass from frame.

  • HEY! I watched the 5 parts of the video, I have the 3GS and was able to remove the glass a bit faster, but otherwise, would have destroyed my phone without this video. Thank you guys for doing this. I GREATLY appreciate being able to repair my phone myself for $14.95 rather than paying someone $200 to do it for me. AWESOME!

  • Thank you very very good!!!!

  • very good id and very helpfull

  • too bad i cant get the #3 thing to F**KING slide in

  • thanks guys, lookin forward to doing this next week

  • this video its very helpfull thanks, nothing its imposible.....im gonna fix my old iphone and sell it on ebay..

  • Great Video!

Not like the others "Oh it's so easy!" -> 2 moves and the thing's back together -,-

I almost ripped my phone because all of them f***ers didn't say exactly how to take the three wires off...

    Thank you...

  • THIS IS JUST GREAT!! I thought i got ripped off for my screen but since saw your video and did it step by step with you omg im so happy i got my iphone fixed thank soo much!! may god bless you.

  • nice job guys :D:D

  • Darling men,

I have just repaired my screen for the SECOND time (yes, clumsy girl) with the help of your spectacular videos.

Thank you Thank you Thank you xx

  • thnx for the vid, just made my iphone work again:P

  • if this is your iphone how on earth did u not know how to turn it on?????

  • Not everybody is an IT guru...oh wait.

  • guys thankyou so much for this video i already change my screen on my iphone 3g this video was very helpfull thanks please now one of change housing on the 3g

  • Thanks so much guys, I just ordered everything I need to fix my Iphone so, I'll take the advice from these videos and run with it.. thanks again

  • hey how come you didnt know how to turn your own phone on at the end. i also thought you worked in IT you should at least know some circuitry on how things connect and know how to turn your phone on. Im 17 and got the job done in under 20mins.

  • very helpful. thank you. mine works fune and i did the same thing. i am 14 years old

  • i did the whole thing. when i turn it on it still makes all the sounds and i can connect it to my computer but the screen is just blank. i mght have cracked the lcd a bit on one side (but would that mean that the whole screen should be blank), or maybe i didnt get cable 3 in properly. did anyone have a similar problem?

  • i can't connect my cable nr3 please help !!!!

  • what would one say is most most risky part of this operation ? cause i'm about to do this and i need to know where to exercise the most caution

  • @remyhaggard12

    - Everything is risky. I got everything together at the end and then as I was trying to pinch it back in to place, the top glass broke. So, now i'm back to square one. I"m not going to try it again. I'm just going to have to go get a new phone.

  • OOOOh! It broke!!! XD

  • Thank you very much guys, I wouldnt have repaired my iphone without your tutoring,,,,, , you guys rock, keep it uppppp!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Sweet! You guys rock! just replaced my screen using your instructions!

  • Thank you guys, I was able to repair my phone today!!! I followed all your videos and worked out perfect! Thank you for taking the time to publish these, they are so useful!

  • i found broken iphone on the street ( london saturday morning) 25 pounds and thanks to this video iv got working Iphone thank you guys

  • These videos are terrific!! This is the most realistic portrayal of how frustrating it is to actually fix the iPhone.

One tip for Connection #3, there is an off-white tiny line / tab, that if you flip up, you can slide the wire in very easily and it snaps into place. Otherwise, the audio on the phone won't work.

    Thanks again!!

  • Thanks guys, another phone fixed, maybe many more to come :) And for those aspiring, make sure you watch the video first before starting on the work, to make sure you have all the tools you need etc.

  • Best directions on the Internet guys! Thank you. However the number 3 ribbon cable that slides out when you pull the white clip gave me some serious trouble. Possibly through manufacturing defect the clip broke... rendering the earpiece useless. I can now only talk on speakerphone as the ribbon cable will not stick anymore. Any ideas on what I could do? Are there any glues I can use that wouldn't fry it or ruin the ribbon for good? Help would be greately appreciated.

  • We have used hot glue many times for other electronic fixes. I would try a small drop of that.

  • finally got it sorted, my tips are as follows, I used the circular part of a pozzie drive s/driver and rolled it around the edge of the glass (mine was cracked, so it was still stuck all the way around) my only other problem was re attaching the 3 connections, what a royal pain in the ass that is... my tip is, try turning it on before closing the case, if it works ok, fine close it, if not, you dont have the problem of re opening it great video though guys, really appreciate it A+ 5*****

  • I took apart my iphone as you did in the video...only one problem, When i put it all back together everything worked except for the volume in the earpiece. That doesn't function at all altho the speaker phone and headphone jack works fine....ne idea what i did wrong?

  • i have the same problem, it would be really nice to figure it out, i have tried all the main troubleshooting tips (insert remove headphones restart restore ext) but nothing works which most likely means i made the mistake... hope its fixable

  • thanks for posting this video. i am ALSO having a heck of a time aligning the last cable (#1) i spent 30 minutes on it before throwing my hands up and heading for you tube. (still haven't gotten it as of yet)

  • MUCHAS GRACIAS!

  • my touch screen is half dead... i can turn my phone off, but i cant slide to unlock, do you know if it helps if i replace the screen? =)

    thank anyway

  • +connection 3, does it have to go in till the white stripe?

  • my connection 3 only went in half way and my iphone works fine

  • It sounds like you may have inadvertantly turned the adaptive functions on. I did the same thing and couldn't figure it out and it's almost impossible to get back to settings to turn them off again. What U have to do it double tap before doing everything... double tap - slide unlock, double tap screens -- slide to corect screen, double tap -- open settings etc. Good luck.

  • it doenst work =/ is it possible that my phone has water damage?

  • i did all the steps but i guess i didn't but the button back in and now the screen is just blank

  • i just did it thanks!

  • I followed these steps perfectly but after it's all back together, the screen doesn't respond properly at the bottom (near the home button) so pressing "space" results in "v" being selected. Pressing "back space" results in "return" I have no idea what to do about it now. Can anyone help? If so, send a private message, it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks!!

  • This will be the second time I replace my screen lol

  • damn, thanks guys! just what i needed!

    Thanos Greece

  • Thanks a million guys! My wife dropped iphone from car and screen shattered. I followed all 5 videos and have a perfectly working iphone! The local Apple store wanted $212 to do the same job. I used your video and spent $19.95 total (inc shipping) on ebay for the kit. Bottom line, wife happy and back in business with iphone:)

  • that little flap thats on top of the new lcd is that the digitizer?

  • very very nice video, thanks!

  • good job. it seems to be a project and I'm preparing my self to work on my friend's broken iphone.

  • THe most USEFUL VIDEO i have watched in youtube

  • I did all of this, i have one problem!! the touch screen is off like one app; when i touch an app to open it it will open the one to the left of it!!!!!!!! what can i do to fix this? anyone else have this problem?

  • You guys are awesome. I followed your video using the same tools and it works great. Thanks very much!

  • umm i fixed my phone and all it works too except the bottom third of my screen.. i cant press somethings down there.. any suggestions.?

anybody any tips on how to slide back in the flex cable no. 3 best??

    thx

  • plug the cable as far as you can get

    than lock the little lever.

at best, only the sensor is not go. I dont know why the cable 3 does not go in the case.....sry

  • you guys are jokers. big up big up

  • are you sure you didnt steal that broken iPhone? one of you guys seems to think that its turned on by the home centre button and the other was trying to put the sim card into the charging slot thing. it just seems to me like its the first time for you guys to see an iPhone :p but thanks tho, it did work out pretty good for me. So two thumbs up. (Y)(Y)

  • which is the video plug.? #3? it works now i guess it just needed a good charge but id like to know for future reference

  • i need help. i have followed this video but when i was done.. there was no picture. i can feel my phone vibrate but its just a black screen... HELP!! PLEASE

  • you probably didnt plug the video plug back in

  • the cable connecting the backlight to the board is probably loose, disconnect and firmly reconnect all three cables from the board to the screen.

  • Thank u for this!!! I am so nervous but I am ordering mine of ebay for 20$ and going to attempt this. I am sure this video has and will help

  • BIG THANKS FROM KOREA

  • awesome video!! took no time at all for me!. had almost no problem with the contact cement...(only a fine bead on top and bottom part) looks brand new! thanks guys....

ps... i have never done electronic fixes before.

    mike

  • BIG thanks from POLAND !!!

  • These video maybe long but the details are very useful. I successfully replaced my cracked glass. The tip on pushing the frame to remove the LCD was the best. Only one suggestion, I'd would cut some of the double side tape to put on the two slim edge.

  • Although these videos were lengthy for some, I found them very informative and EXREMELY helpful in fixing my glass. The step by step style allowed me to follow along without getting lost, I now can say I have a fully functioning (un-cracked) i-phone.

  • vielen dank fur informationen

  • Wow, 50 minutes of video time. That explains why 60% of your audience didn't make it to the final video. I wonder how long the entire process took?! But seriously, nice job. Looks like a major pain. I'm wondering if you think it's worth it to spend the $100 and get the complete LCD and digitizer replacement instead of trying to pry the glass out.

  • what happens if i did everything fine, but there's nothing coming out on my screen

  • like your screen remains black?

    1. you didnt plug the screen in correctly. i noticed the 2 clips needed to be pressed firm to go down properly so double check that.

    2. still no go try charging your battery?

    3. looks like your lcd has passed into another life.. so replace that and then try again..

if that all fails i would probably give up lol

  • mannni did everything but i cracked my lcd!! fuck! yall really help though thanks...now i gotta replace my lcd.. ;(

  • Great job plugging the sim tray into the usb slot! Hahah... rofl. But nice one I downloaded this.

  • Are the both of you gay??

  • Nope. Sorry. Keep looking though, that someone special is out there somewhere.

  • Funny.

  • Awesome job! I'm so glad you have this video up; the DirectFix site rushes through and makes it look far too easy. I got some great tips from you, thank you!

  • great job guys !
