Theres a japanese version,its the first in the movie series.

The american version is a remake of the 1st japanese one,the japanese one is honestly more terrifying and the american one was a cheap remake and a waste of time.

And one missed call was a japanese movie only until the remake so no the one you're talking about is a sequel to the 1st one.
