The elementary school where I had kindergarten has Simplex 4051 horns on 4050-80 light plates. I think the panel is a Simplex 2001, the 24VDC model.
Faraday's 4053 seems like their knock-off of the older Federal Vibratone 450. Then Simplex rebranded it as the 4051. Did you get all of them from some Simplex system?
(Next time, I wanna hear them run on 24VDC power!)
No offense, but your 4051's sound more like dead 4050's. are you sure you are using a DC transformer? or is it FWR? (full wave rectified) also, are they getting enough voltage, and amperage?
Oh god thats bad. I never thought of that. Thank you. The last thing I want is my horn breaking! I'll check and ask the guy that sold them to me. Im pretty sure the Farady horn came off of the same 24VDC system as the 4051s. Im not sure though.
actually that's not that loud on my computer.

They were on AC power lol. I didn;t know at the time

I think your 4053 looks to be an AC horn since both terminals are black like my 4040 and my 4050, is there a label saying the power outage?

should tell ya like somewhere on the label. Both my 4040 and my 4050 are AC horns and both have both black terminals. Let me know what you find

It says "volt 24 CYC DC" so I think its Direct Current. Thanks for your concern though!

Your 4051s sound unique. They sound like 4050s :)

Thanks. I guess they sound cool. I like the sound when the horn turns off. That left over vibration sound if you know what I mean.

yup

could you maybe sell me a 4051?
firealarm211 3 years ago
Sorry but no.
FireAlarmTech96 3 years ago
You might have had the polarity reversed for the Faraday horn, that's why it sounded different.
SystemSensor224 3 years ago
Im sorry but I don't even know what that means LOL! Can you explain what that means?
FireAlarmTech96 3 years ago
Oh you mean I wired it wrong? Oh well it still works.

I want a 4051.

I thought Cjmtrumpet gave you one. Sorry I won't be selling them just yet. I'll let you know when I do.
FireAlarmTech96 3 years ago
no, cjmtrumpet sent me a BROKEN 4050.
WheelockAlarms 3 years ago
Oh. Whats the point of having a broken alarm? Did he use a DC transformer instead of an AC? These come and go quickly on eBay.
