I don't why this matters to me, but I belated realized as they were getting ready to cross the street that that's the same airport I always use whenever I catch a flight out to LA. lol. Kinda weird but interesting to realize that since I'd almost expect celebrities to use private jets rather than public airlines.

As for the masks, Japan has a much more compact population. They even employ "packers" to jam people on the commuter trains.

The masks are probably a good idea in such a compact enviornment ... I am sure they are a personal choice ... and one most americans are not that familiar with unless there is a flu pandemic raging in our cities.

They were probably wearing the masks because they were being over cautious about that bull crap swine flu. Square Enix was talking about not going to E3 because of it. The media made a huge fuss about it, that it probably got a lot of people coming here to be safe. Or it was because of what everyone else said.

In any case, I wish I was there to see them.

most people wear the surgical masks for health benifits. Expecially on airplanes where its much easier to catch viruses and colds. U dont wanna get sick excpecially if your going over seas to a foreign land. Im sure they all want to be in top health when making their appearance in US.

Reina was towards the back, right after Risa and before Lin Lin. Her hair is coal black now, maybe that's why you didn't recognize her. She was wearing all black and had a black and red bag. I heard there were about 150 at the airport and there would have been more but a lot of people were in line at the LACC getting tickets.

lol... for those of you who haven't figured this out yet. The shades and masks are to keep people from recognising them. It isn't because they are worried about having SARS. The problem is. in America it is slightly more rare to see people walking around with masks on and it actually attracts attention. lolz

tbh I dont think the masks are for covering up :-) In Japan they were these masks if they have the sligthest sign of a flu... or, if they don't want to get sick. I'ts very normal - so i doubt it's for coverage.. then they would probably just wear shades aswell :P

I am not trying to start a flame war with fellow H!P fans. I am just saying that it is highly likely that they disguised themselves probably via orders from up front in order to avoid press photos or an unexpectedly huge amount of fans smothering them on the way out of the airport. I also justify my assumptions because of Kirarin Revolution, an anime about idol life which is tied into H!P which describes these kinds of tactics throughout the entire series. Hmmm...

H!P had a lot of influence on Kirarin Revolution so I do think it is plausible. They all wore either shades or masks. Shades do not protect from airborne pathogens. Following my logic? Shades also don't do much good in dark areas. However Japanese are known to wear them in the dark, I will admit that. They certainly did not know what to expect when they got here, it is very apparent from Tsunku's blogs. Anyway, who knows? We should ask them! :)
