lol, the line "your sweat is salty, i am why" is not wise, profound, and beyond human understanding. she is singing about how all life originates from the ocean. the ocean is salty, so she's linking salty sweat to herself(the ocean being her identity when saying 'i' in the song)

Listen to it. She's talking about how the Ocean is the womb of life. The concept of mother is strongly impied. Your sweat is salty, I am why is a reference to our bodies being made mainly of salt water...like the oceans. *shrug*

@xkze Well, the lyrics in general are a personification of the ocean. When she talks of the ocean's "children", she is refering to all life on earth, in my opinion. After all, in evolution it is believed that basically all live began in the ocean, then came on land. It is also believed that salty sweat is a biological feature that owes its existence to our distant ancestor species. That's my interpretation, anyways.

I like lots and lots of music and my taste in musis is very various. Just enjoy the music and accept that not everyone likes the same! And i can unsterstand why people would find this out of tune, i mean it isn't an easy song to listen to! That doesn't mean bjork is a bad singer or the person doesn't know a thing about music, it means that people are titled to their opinions!

I think so many of us are so used to hearing generic, 'in-tune' voices - most of the singers that are commonly listened in the public sound very similar to one another, and are all very similar in style.

It's not so much a person's fault that they don't like hearing a unique voice as Bjork's and have to criticise it negatively... It's the whole exposed public media that's depriving the majority of us to hear individuals like Bjork who's rarity is so precious and refreshing.

That's not entirely true. A lot of famous singer/bands right what they perform. Sometimes, they might collaborate with composers and lyricists, but the singer/band plays the bigger role. Bjork's an example.

However, most Top 40 pop singers, like Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus have most of their music written for them. Lady Gaga is one of those few pop singers who composes her songs, which is a nice change in that genre.
