Wagner è l'apoteosi del Belcanto!. Cisono delle musiche e dei brani così intensi e delicati che la musica lirica italiana se li sogna. Wort-Ton-Drama è il culmine dell'Arte musicale di tutta la musica lirica.

Assolutamente no! Aggiungerei Schubert e Mahler sopra Vivaldi e Chopin.

Bach è l'autore della Bibbia Musicale, la musica di Beethoven è eccezionale medicina al morale basso, Mozart dopo 15 minuti mi annoia. Wagner è l'unico che mi provoca uno stato emozionale tale che mi porta in Paradiso. Inoltre, non mi vergogno, mi fa piangere mi gioia! Esempio: il saluto tra Brunilde e Sigfrido nel Gotterdammerung...mi manda in estasi! E l'amore di Isotta per Tristano? eeeh!!!

La Divina didn't have a very German-opera-like voice. Unfortunately, she didn't possess such steel vocal chords, and this sounds like an Italian singer with beautiful voice trying to sing Wagner. Nice try, though! I prefer to know that Callas didn't record the opera because she shouldn't, instead of just thinking I would love to have heard her singing Isolde.

Outstanding. If only she had sung German language Wagner opera; she definitely had the makings of a great Wagnerian had she done it (same with Sutherland) both Callas and Sutherland chose instead to stick to bel canto. This is a passionate, emotional and glorious Liebestod. She was much younger here and her voice was a shiny new thing. She also sang Kundry and Brunnhilde (in Italian). What a grand soprano she was
