It was just a shot at Liefeld. Too bad cuz this comic could have been the best shit ever. No. X-Factor worked under SHIELD and X-Force worked for Cable. X-Force did do *some* missions with and for the X-Men, but they didn't work for Xavier.
He ran the New Mutants for a little while, and many different incarnations of X-Men teams. Most of the student teams though were led by others (ie Gen X, New X-Men, later New Mutants, and X-Force) but Xavier had an indirect effect over them. I just wouldn't say that they were *his* teams, is all. The X-Men were his priority.
