hey i was just wondern if they can live in a 10gal tank with an apple snail, a sword tail, a black tetra, 2 micky platys, and another type of small fish? thanks alot message me please!
@parakeetlover102 Live yes.......live long and prosper.......prolly not :)
The tank is close to full and unless u have a oversized filter and do weekly water changes....the nitrate levels are probably bouncing around to much for shrimp.
Thanks I think they will be fine im not getting any fish that are to big I just ordered 30 cherries online cant wait.Plus im making it densley planted so they will have plenty of places to hide maybe a couple of babbies will survive I doubt it but u never know thank you so much and when I get them I'll let you know if there good k thanks~aFish4everyone~
Do you think they would be good in 55g planted tank with livebearers, cories, tetras fish like that or will they try to eat them? I have already seen your videos and I think your tank is amazing and I think these fish would be fine with them but I just want to be sure please answer thanks ~aFish4everyone~
@aFish4everyone they should be if the tank is heavily planted and the fish are fed enough so that they are not hunting in between feedings. But ya gotta watch your water quality to if you are gonna feed a lot.
@Asian4Invasion Check out my other video titled 92g corner community at dusk for a good example of a community tank environment that the cherries thrive in.
@Jazbar4 Thank you. They have bred non stop which is great since I got them. Your right I use a heater set to 76 and they breed much better than at 72.
@iceb131 technically they've already been laid in this video. The first sign of them is what's called the saddle. The female will have a light coloring on it's back that looks like a horses saddle. This is the eggs in the ovaries.....from there they are "laid" and come to rest under the shrimps tail where she cares for them until they hatch a few weeks later.
@Jazbar4 Oh I see! I have just started a shrimpy tank, I started out with 6, and have noticed little yellowness on the backs of the really red ones. I am really excited to get some babies in my tank, I have followed what everyone says about them and have them alone in a planted tank with driftwood and rocks, and nutrient rich substrate. I didnt know if they layed their eggs maybe in the java moss i planted, or if they hid their eggs under their tails. We will see what happens! :D
@BrixBG yes some strains of these cherries have a very washed out look to them and most people will sell juveniles because they ship better. But if the juvies come from good stock, in a few months time they'll color up nicely.
@pokemon2727 no air pump needed. Just keep your water quality good and I recommend live plants with these guys......they help keep the water chemistry stable.
@AesirSovann you can tell they are pregnant when you see the eggs tucked up under their tail. I never "clean my tanks" I only trim plants and do weekly water changes of about 25%. The fish poo and leaf litter that gathers at the bottom of the tank is great food for your plants.
How much water current do they need/tolerate? I want them either in a very high current plant tank (VEEEERRRY high current) or a VERY low current plant tank.
My other tanks have predators so those aren't an option. Do you know if they can survive with extremely low current?
@Anamika2505 There really isn't a need to feed them unless you have a hundred or more. They can survive and even thrive on leftover fish food and even just the algae that grows in the tank. But if you do have a lot you can feed them just about anything that won't spoil your tank. I've fed spinach, green beans, frozen peas, lettuce and any fish food that sinks like algae wafers.
woo hoo i got a few berried females but i saw one of my shrimps was like the last segment of the tail transparent..is it sick?even i tried to grab it it doesn't do the rocket launch like the other shrimps.. :C
well i think the females are usually more colorful than the males, mine are super bright red with like a pinkish stripe going tom their heads to ther tails i dont feed them anything though..
i fed them tetra min... i just made discus tank 2 days ago (180 gallon / 600 litre) with big redmoor driftwood and sand only , but the water still cloudy and brownish ..
cloudy tanks usually mean that theyre still in the cycling process or over feeding, but i dont think youre over feeding since you set it up two days ago, and the brownish part i think itll last up two 2 months maybe more, unless you do likemore frequent water changes
i just put in a log in my 55g and the water is brownish too hah
For your shrimp farm do you turn the lights out when it is night time, as in a real life situation. (even though Neocaridina denticulata sinensis var. red is raised in Taiwan and DON"T live in the wild. But i will have Albino Corydora Aeneus, and Blue dragon guppies.
I do have a "natural" light schedule for them. Just like any other aquarium situation. Those fish you mention shouldn't bother the adult shrimp but they will attempt to eat any newborns they happen to come across.
i have a tropical fish tank that, i have just filled up today. I was thinking about filling it up with fish but im more keen to breed shrimps, the tank is only 5.5 gallons but i have a massive community tank downstairs. do you think that my 5.5 gallon tank is big enough to breed shrimps?
Also how long has that female been pregnant and how did you get the female pregnant.
great vid. If you anser my questions i will subscribe to you.
Well, you wouldn't have any luck trying to catch the babies, they are much to delicate.
What you can do though, is to catch mom before the eggs hatch. Use a specimen container with no holes. Hang it inside the shrimps tank and change 25% of the water with tank water ever day. It would also be helpful to keep some live plants and perhaps a small handful of tank gravel in the specimen container with the mom.
Well I just reviewed the video and yes that does kinda look like a rudulph (spelling?) but it's not, it's a male cherry. The females are dark red like the one in the forground when they have matured. The males are red but clear.......semi transparent.
As for goldfish, they will certainly eat any baby shrimp and depending on the size of the goldfish they would most likely chow down on the adults too.
oh gosh thank you so much! i was really worried because i'm kind of young in the fish area (being ninth grade) but i've been doing it since a kid with my dad (african chiclid fanatic) and we really haven't done shrimp before...thank you so much.
yep....I've had each of those in the past and the only one that you need be slightly concerned about would be the glass cats. They may eat some newborns but they'll never bother the juvies or adults.
I wouldn't recommend keeping bettas with any shrimp, specifically dwarf shrimp including red cherries and caridina. There have been some bettas on a blue moon that get along peacefully with just about anything. But considering you don't want to risk killing any shrimp it's best to leave your tank as is. But if you were determined to risk it with some supervision, look for the laziest or most mellow betta out there. Still, seeing small fast moving things may look like lunch if your not careful.
i actually did risk it, and the betta got along fine with 5 amano shrimp in a 3 gallon tank. the only problem occurred when i added 2 white clouds, and then the betta died...
fortunatey, betta + shrimp turned out to work like a charm.
I keept 6 Armanos with 4 Betta they got along pretty well but after 6 weeks the Armanos shit 24/7 my whole tank was messed up pretty much I vacum cleaned my tank every day,I can tell.Imaging you have a snow white carpet and every day the chimney sweep walk over it with dirty shoes ;)
haha, me too. i keep mine in a 3 gallon with white sand substrate. i have to suck the shit up twice a week with a bit of airline tubing to keep it from getting really nasty. i've got to keep mine though because they're really one of the best animals for a algae control in such a small, unheated tank. plush they're really fun to watch when you put some food in ans they go berserk.
Im curious, did those eggs mature? They look dead. Ive got some 200 Cherrys and some of the females seem to "miscarry," if that would be the proper terminology, randomly. @aFish4everyone well that filter is adequate but not really something I would feel comfortable over feeding with.
But the shrimp aren't to expensive.........worth a try IMO.

Do you think heater is needed?
the shrimp seem to be doing great but I would like them to breed.
