I'm using logic to put myself in their shoes, but I guess to the extent they are wackos they are not using logic...
I guess that most wackos use a mixture of logic and wackiness to come up with their plans. If their plans are not sufficiently logical, then they aren't effective and we are not in danger from them! :)
Logical shooters look for places where most people are unarmed. A shooter who opens fire in a shooting range or a police office is less if a problem.
i'm not an american so i'm not trying to lecture you on how to do your national business, but isn't applying teachers with guns the wrong turn on dealing with school-shootings?
i mean if there are guns involved isn't somebody gonne get shot?
In the states, we have an important amendment to our Constitution (#2) that says each individual has a right to keep and bear arms. This limitation on govt power applies in govt schools. Private orgs would be allowed to limit gun carrying. I'm in favor of privatizing all schools, and giving full tuition to the poor...
But killers know those in classrooms are now disarmed. This is why they choose schools for shootings. If they knew some teachers were armed, fewer would come in shooting.
Lady obviously has issues. She's the last person you want with a gun. Guns have no place in places like that. They need to find a reason to fire that lady and her away from endangering the kids.
If she was fighting for her right to conceal her gun in her car on school grounds, I'd sympathyze with her. However, she's talking about carrying a loaded gun into the classrooms. That's both unreasonable and dangerous. You have a right to own a gun, but you do not have a right to carry your weapon anywhere you want.
"none of the Rights in the Bill of Rights are absolute.." what makes these Rights absolute is your ability and authority to exercise them.. I don't have the Right nor the ignorence to yell "fire" in a movie house unless there is a fire, moreover will I get arrested for yelling the word "fire" if there is a fire..? No.. along with the Right to say any words, comes responsibility.. as the responsibility carrysover to the person that wants to bear arms in every square inch of this country..
She has the right to keep and own a gun. This is not what is being debated, however. The courts have upheld the right of people with CCP to conceal their weapon in their car even when in a "gun free zone". She doesn't have the right to carry or discharge it anywhere she wants. You can't fire a weapon in city limits (except in self defense) and you can't carry your weapon into high risk places such as schools, banks, and airports.
a "gun free zone" is a place where law abiding citizens will surrender their guns at the door but 1/2 the criminals can't read and those that can don't abide by the "gun free zone".. hmmmm, free speech zone comes to mind.. the problem I have are those that dictate what is and isn't a free whatever zone.. each Right we lose makes it easier for them to take the next right away.. at least we can agree to disagree..
There is no such thing as a "law abiding citizen" carrying a gun into a school. As soon as you carry a gun into a school, you are the criminal. Unless you're a police officer, of which there is often at least one on school campus, you can't carry a gun into classroom. It's that simple.
Your basless, slippery slope paranoia is unconvincing in justifying a right to carry a gun into a school.
if a cop can carry a gun at school then we ALL can.. but, with that Right comes responsibility.. moreover, the college shootings could have stopped at 2 dead if one of the 20 or so classmates carried a gun to shoot the shooter dead.. why do people shoot up college classrooms..? because Regan emptied the State Hospitals where we identified shooters before they could shoot and housed them away from us and society.. wanna help fix this mess, undo all the garbage that's been passed since 1965..
I missed the part of the 2nd Amendment that says "the Right of the People to keep and bear arms will NOT be infringed" except if a teacher wants to bring a gun to school.. from whence does the Appeals Court derive their authority..? do they have more authority than the Constitution..?
None of the rights in the bill of rights are absolute. You have a freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean you can scream "fire" in a crowded theater. You have a right to own a gun, but that doesn't mean you can carry or discharge it everywhere you want. There are certain exceptions to each of your individual liberties. Prohibiting people from carrying guns in schools does not infringe on your right to own a gun.
AP is a whore butting in to other businesses that Fox news already talked about, half of AP videos are retarded and no one cares about, just like a teacher getting a gun permit to carry it to school, AP sucks
Nobody loves gun rights more than I do, but there's some places where carrying a gun is just inappropriate. Banks, bars, and schools are some examples.
I've never seen a sign that says "Leave Your Rights At The Door.." because you're in a bank, bar and school you should not have the 2nd Amendment Right..? if,at banks, bars and schools we cannot carry weapons then the sign should read "please check all weapons at the door.." ie; belts, boots, fingernails, pens, pencils, eyeglasses, umbrellas, etc.. ya get my drift..?
Don't be ridiculous. There's a compelling state interest to prohibit guns in dangerous places such as banks, bars, schools, airports, and court houses.
None of the enumerated rights in the bill of rights are absolute. Not speech, not search and seizure, and certainly not gun rights. There's certain exceptions to all of them and in the case of gun rights, certain venues are the exception. I love and carry guns, but lets be intellectually honest here.
This case and any others like this is just a mockery to the court system. But then again, the court system in America is a joke. Over paid judges who make decisions by how much media attention they receive.
Over paid judges? HA! Judges anywhere, even at the SCOTUS, could make far more money as private attorneys than they could on the bench. Judges are not overpaid. And you're populist cynisism is weak.
She should risk her job and commit a serious firearms violation? I hope you do not carry. If you are reflecting your own personal behavior in your comment, you have proven yourself to be an irresponsible and immature gun owner.
This bitch can't be serious. There's other methods of protecting yourself that don't include bringing a loaded gun into the classroom. If you do insist on protecting yourself with a gun, at least have the decency to leave it in your car.
if she can carry a firearm to class, then the kids should be allowed to carry them too.
i know my sister's kids were afraid of her ex after they got a divorce, so i don't see anything but unfairness for not allowing a 10yo to pack a 9mm submachine gun.
She's fuckin stupid.I just saw a lady get killed by her ex right in front of the police the other day.She should have just carried it anyway & not told anyone.
maybe if the ex husband comes to the school and shoots her and then decide to go on a spree and kill some of the children, the district officials will be pleased also because the work rules intended to insure the safety of everyone would'nt be affected.
Nobody is questioning her motivation. It's just that you can't carry a gun into a classroom full of kids. There's the possibility of accidental discharge, the gun falling into the hands of a child, or simply the presence of a gun distracting from the educational environment.
Schools are off limits for good reason. Your unreasonably strict constitutional interpretation carries no weight anywhere except youtube. Banning guns in schools in no way infringes your right to keep a gun.
Nathaniel, ANY possibility you can dream of can exist regarding guns.A responsible citizen takes the precautions. You may want to start packing heat when you do your residency in one of America's famous gun Totin' ghetto hospitals.Harlem awaits you doc!! I believe you are probably a good man who means well, but your Rockwellian vision is out of touch with reality. Bon Chance!
hilarious. why would she? would she take it out and flash it around to take control of her class, then accidentally squeeze off a few rounds as she loses her grip?
i'd certainly trust her with a gun much more than i would the students you're worried about and whatever else they bring with them to school.
look if you want to believe everything the whore that is mainstrem media go ahead.all you have to do is investigate for yourself like i did and you will see all the mainstream media does now is to entertain you and make you feel sad, happy or even mad . that is not the job of the media.

sounds like you work for ap? if not do your homework before you make yourself sound very uneducated! every one knows ap is a media whore, where have you been? otherwise get off of ap's nutz!
your the dipshit on here trolling. the AP is more nuetral than cnn, msnbc, fox news, etc. They have nothing to gain or lose by reporting the news. let them be a media whore, its their job to cover worldly events. boo fucking hoo that they have a range of stories to report. your are a sad lil fellow.
You know nothing about the media and what the AP is. But feel free to go back to left-biased MSNBC or right-biased FOX and leave the real news to the AP.
So she wants to take her gun to class. Then everybody else should be able to take theirs to class if they have some kind of disagreement with someone who may harm them .
And that is what should be prevented. So I agree with the court for stopping her from bringing a gun into the classroom. if she deems her ex husband a danger to her life there are other ways to go about this.
well, what i'm saying is Ft. Hood is definitely a tragedy (though there was definitely more than one shooter/attacker -- don't trust mainstream media like the AP) but where the most gun violence occurs is where guns have been taken away from law abiding civilians. just check out place like DC (before they repealed the ban) and especially Chicago. and if only the police and soldiers and gangsters (all synonymous) are the only ones with guns, then expect a lot more crime and a lot more violence.

This ruling violates the teacher's second amendment rights.
Schools would be safer if a few teacher were voluntarily packing guns.
Fewer wackos would try to shoot up schools if they thought that random teachers could shoot them down before they were successful.
Right now, shooters know it is safe to mow down kids in schools.
All teachers should be allowed to pack guns in the classroom if they want to.
Classrooms are owned by the govt. They are public property. 2nd amendment applies.
