  • ...wow... it must be so hard to make a box totally made of glass... AND WHERE THE HEC IS THE BATHROOM!?!??!?! there is absolutly no privacy it is like a loft house there really isnt that special.it really is the furnishing that makes it looks nice..

  • great video.

  • Just a question does it hail over there!?!

  • Beautiful architecture, irritating blabber

  • He says "it's expansive"....I think what he means to say is "it's expensive".

  • this "president" is a fucking gimp.

  • I want a house that has many many windows

  • If their is a earthquake imma need more insurance!

  • The Glass house truly represents "Simplicity as the ultimate sophistication" a famous quote by Lenardo Da Vinci.

  • hungry eat the rich !!!!

  • Its ironic how all these people that clearly think they are important, because they are in an expensive "trendy" building sipping alcoholic drinks out of trendy glasses, are talking about "simplicity" when they are the antithesis of real simplicity. For real simplicity, exquisite and wonderful simplicity you go to nature, to a grove of trees. Not the house of a self important millionaire whose livelihood crushes the poor who are not good enough because they're not yuppies.

  • @Acennendlic i stll want to be them.

  • @Acennendlic i agree , i read what you said and laughed out loud , so bloody true, ha,ha,ha,ha

  • @Acennendlic Agreed. I'd like to see what the heating and cooling bills are for this house. I also noticed it has little thermal mass and does not seem to produce it's own power, hot water, and it also does not recycle water. What use is this beyond being a pretty glass box? I also doubt the glass is 6mm (which is the minimum advisable for tornado or hurricane winds and yet is still above building code).

  • Oh srry my bad wrong video

  • I think u guys r missing the big picture

It talks abt a girl who's wastering her life away n I.e the hangover prt.

Listen to the lyrics more often

  • People in glass houses shouldn't masturbate.

...what, expected me to warn people about projectile rocks?

  • You can't hide from kids, when you run out of candy on Halloween.

  • If I lived in this house ,

I would have to talk to my Wife !

  • Where is the big screen TV ?

  • @guddaysunshine

are you blind? It is visible for the first minute of the video.

  • @guddaysunshine i think that might be a painting not a big screen.

  • I would love to live in that house - ideal place for my existence! :-)

  • a perfect place for stalkers to stalk

  • I wonder how many birds die from that house :D

  • It is so GOD DAMN cheesy how he says "diverse" and they have to have a fucking black woman on the screen. I fucking hate you trendy non original pseudo brainwashing robots.

  • @poopyscoopy5 I agree, though he is himself, an asian...

  • a JOY for exhibitionists AND voyeurs alike !! :DD

  • Comment removed

  • I've had the idea of this house in my head for years... Turns out it's already been built :(

  • It's all good until 15 punks come by with rocks and good throwing arms. Lol.

  • @flippyfloppy2 Hahah you ruined the magic of this place :D:D

  • @sarkizmutafyan Ha, ha, ha, ha...my bad. Just sayin. Lol.

  • If there was a whole street with those houses, there would be no private life...

  • why the way he speak, sounds like a chicken???

  • my future house

  • bad place to have sex

  • @TheZeth24 So? Draw the curtains.

  • @TheZeth24 For some. o.0

  • bad palce to have sex

  • sooooooo, blinds or curtains, cause people would be all up in your business

    Its beautiful though.

  • The house is beautiful but the land it sits on has a lot to do with its mood. fabprefab.co m has similar designs if you like this house. It is a site that lists different manufacturers of modern homes similar in style to this one!

  • everyone wants to go to Europe, Asia, "travel the world" blah blah blah... I could go here and be completely fulfilled.

  • I have too many enemys to live there... I need a steel house with no windows!!!

  • It's an ugly piece of architecture by an over-rated architect, if this was is so amazing and innovative then why hasn't it been copied and used as a home all over the world?

Well that's because it was designed by a gay man who would never have any children, or a wife and mother to live in it, hence it's lack of soul, and what a horrible manifestation of loneliness it is as a result.

  • @Kenmorfdublin:

This design HAS been copied around the world, but not as a home -- more like an office. Perhaps being a home isn't the right use for it. Perhaps it should have been called "Open Glass Office". That way, people wouldn't overreact and dismiss the design outright. The structure is actually like a beautiful, pared-down glass version of a Japanese house. If that were my office, I'd love to work in it.

  • @TachieBillano Thanks for demonstrating my point, fact is Johnson used it primarily as his home. An office is a room in a building or a home, it doesn't have a double bed in it.

  • @Kenmorfdublin: If I had the money to build a new house, I'd want to incorporate some parts of the Glass House design. I live in a tropical country, and we actually NEED that kind of design that's open and cheap to create, while maintaining aesthetics---or we'd suffer from the humidity and high air conditioning bills. Even though private areas are enclosed for privacy, traditionally we make windows that slide away completely to expose bedrooms to everyone else outside by day.

  • This is my dream house! It's absolutely beautiful.

  • *haves sex* *pedestrians walk past and crowd the windows* You: honey i told you we should of bought a normal house

  • its a house with no privacy.

  • I'd rather pitch a tent

  • For those who say "It's a beautiful house but I don't think I could live in it", We can repeat what Johnson supposedly said to a woman who said the same thing to him: "Ah, but you don't have to." :-)

It is interesting to think of the glass house in Platonic terms, a perfect "crystal" letting nature be seen, but by it's materials and geometry it removes itself from the natural...human structure "perfected" looking on nature from a rarified non natural perch. It is modern but Greek in outlook

  • i would love a place like that, in the summer months, not so much in the winter. Looks like it would be difficult to heat!

  • how the hell are you supposed to shit, fuck a hoe, or jack off in that house?

  • @livepranksta95 lmao...

the surroundings are far from the street i guess

  • I live in this house in my imagination.

  • its beautiful and modern when i first heard of a glass house i thought...why not just live outside with a roof? lol but this is beautiful :)

  • Cleaning those windows must be a real "pane."

  • @MediaWatchDawg hahahaha :]

  • @MediaWatchDawg ...it's actually easier that paint ii if it was a wall and you can see trough. Much better in fact

  • Lol i dont think the owner will be happy if someone breaks his window's

  • Wow. Nice but..uhm...Do you have to get changed in a closet or something? LOLs i dont think i could live there. but least you would see lost of pretty stars at night =D

  • don't throw rocks

  • @zx6rtt lol

  • great, great commentary!! ......... wonder what Johnson's values were and where they were influenced?

  • At least you can keep an eye on everything, but everything can keep and eye on you.

  • It is my dream to visit this house.

  • i live near it =]

  • very amazing

  • I like the design of this and it's quite easy to maintain compared to other houses but I would only make a few portions of my house glass such as a wall in the living room, dining room, bedrooms and the entrance.

I also like how this makes man close to nature. Mind you this is not good when living in the suburbs or in the city.

  • Is sex private?

  • Well it would make a Peeping Tom's job much easier.

  • This might be practicle in a very temperate climate like Hawaii but....

  • I love it ! I would love to see a stream built that goes threw the house and real trees growing inside the house. Also a see threw top level using the new tech materials they use on the sydney tower deck. They also have a new window or glass that you switch from see threw to solid.

My sister teaches at Risd. Im a sculptor in metal. Good job

  • oh gee where can i hide my bf then...lol

  • let me introduce the hammer lol

  • lol when ever theres a storm and they say dont be near windows, wtf do you do here??

  • @omgroy1587 lmao

  • Amazing house

  • The house is amazing, but the guy is a pretentious fuck. He pronounced "france" as "fronce."

  • That is beautiful, but would birds hit that all the time?. I have some large windows and had to put shades on them because of bird hits.

  • I DON'T do windows.

  • if I lived in that house, I'd throw stones, lol

  • lol

  • alles kalr ne ...

aber hey wer darf die Glasscheiben putzen??

  • wow. stunning

  • tout simplement magnifique!!

  • people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

  • what if theres a tornado, and theres no basement how would you leave if the window breaks and suck u up.

  • wow you must have alot of privacy in it

  • A glass house would beat my mould allergies. Its brilliant. I love it!!

  • ok everybody...I was just as taken in as everyone else. Here's the thing..glass is inefficient as a building material...it's so extremely difficult to get over that...it also affords little privacy, or "comfiness". The birds sound real nice in this video...as do the frogs, crickets and what have you, but would anyone care to guess what it would cost to heat/cool this little lawn shed? I challenge that a home with similiar qualities can be built with with more traditional methods, but efficient.

  • 74VDC, privacy isn't an issue if you own all the surrounding land. Heating and cooling wouldn't be an issue if you build it in a temperate climate. Also, double pane low-e windows are pretty efficient. In a nutshell: you cant build a house like this just anywhere, you have to have the right spot for it.

  • Don't kid yourself, heating and cooling is ALWAYS an issue, no matter what climate you build in. I agree however that the ill effects are certainly mitigated in an ideal climate, but it's still a huge issue. Windows of any type are not "pretty efficient, certainly not as a wall material...whether double, triple pane, low E or whatever. Compare the R value of any window to the value of even a simple 2x4 wall w/faced glass insul., you will find the numbers astonishing.

  • i have a rock.

    lol

  • the trees that are untrimmed has been trimmed to make it look like they're untrimmed. LOL...i love it!

  • I'm dying to see this. The waiting list is incredibly long. As a kid I'd pass it everyday on my way to school wishing it were mine. Up until his death, nearly every Sunday I would see him at the Asian restaurant with his partner. Pad Thai just tastes better when your in the presence of greatness.

  • thanks for the story ... you actually grew up living next to it!? I've been fascinated/obsessed with the glass house for years ... need to see it!

  • Phillip Johnson - master !@

  • OMG i thought this was the Stellan Skarsgard film

Can you name theis video something else

  • I can't live at night in Glass house. Its good for day time.

I belive but not sure that may be its very hard to clean from outside and need alot of attention specially in woods. and how you remove leaves and stuff from the roof ???

Its simply pain in the ass :).

But still love to have one for day time fun .

  • Glass is magic.

  • Reminds me of the Cullens house, wow

  • christianlonelyheart.

  • "Mies" design, with some "Mies" chairs, and some "Mies" ideas. Nice I like Mies

  • Only hot nudist people should live in "The Glass House"...

  • So pretty! I love the design - the curtains keep some level of privacy, as well. Not to mention the fact that the location is so out of the way. Gorgeous!

  • I'd love to have a conversation in that house, I think it's beautiful, but I'd probably not like to live there, I need some intimacy some times.

  • ...shouldnt throw rocks.
