  • The new Canon 1DX is ((Tight))

  • Great video :) but do you need to get an extra battery for the battery grip?

    thanks

  • @longboarders1 You can still use the camera with 1 battery in the battery grip. The battery grip simply gives you the ability to load 2 batteries to provide additional battery life for your whole rig.

  • thanks its about time somebody posted just way i was looking for

  • Hi,

Does the BG-E7 still function if you only have one LP-E6 battery inside?

    Thanks!

  • @Charizmm yes, you can use one bat.

  • @Charizmm as he says in the fucking video

  • Thank you for your review; I am actually buying one today and I was curious before I purchase the item and you answered my question, thanks.

  • nice vid. im thinking about the 7D cause its very similar to the EOD1-D mark IV. Much cheaper to.

  • Grats for that reviev. The battery grip is a must have if you have big masive hands. It really improofes the work with the camera. And with the second battery in the grip the charges last allmost for ever.

  • thanks for sharing, I just bought my BG-E7.

    :)

  • Please PLEASE! Can you tell me where you got that leather strap on the side of the 7D please i need one of those

  • @WootKeny Goto amazon and search for Opteka strap.

  • @mcgong Thanks a lot for your reply I'm gonna check that out! :)

  • Many thanks for this.

  • awesome video, thank you

  • Great video thanks.

  • what lense you have on your rig?

  • @JMM629 I actually do not have this camera anymore. I moved up to a 5D2 and shoot mainly with my 85 1.2L. When I had this camera, I used a 16-35mm a lot for a walk around lens, and also used a 24-70mm.

  • @mcgong why not keep both cameras

  • Very helpful indeed! the 7D battery grip is a very trustworthy addition to the camera, in all respects. great grip, longer usage, and a better view for any situation. Thanks for making this video, it made all the difference. :)

  • opteeka? wtf is tht

  • Worth the price?

  • youre Camera is Sexy

  • Great video and great camera! :) I use the canon grip on my Canon 60d and can't imagine using it without!

  • huumm... many thanks for the explanation. I appreciate that.

  • theres a third party grip for the 7D. what do you think about that? thanks.

  • @ptlofts Wwhich is more important to you; functionality or build quality? Both original and 3rd party grips function correctly and does the same job accurately. However, that's where the similarity ends. The BG-E7 for the 7D share the same magnesium alloy frame and is weather sealed. The pattern/colour of the rubber grip area is also different and you may find the overall feel of the original grip better; especially the option dial which offers a better clicking sound and feel to it.

  • Really nice video!!

Can you tell me what lens do you have on the 7D?

    Thank you :)

    / Jakob

  • you should do a review on that refreshing drink

  • @ExtraNetwork HAHA! We don't drink any soda at that was the only can I could find in the pantry. Diet Hansen's should be a crime!

  • Diet Hansen's... it should be a crime!

  • Very nice camera.

  • 2 packs total. the battery grip slides into where the original pack goes. I don't think this grip is weather sealed too. Sorry I don't have this camera anymore. I now shoot with a 5D2.

  • @mcgong do you still have the 7D and do you have new lenses?

  • @cubeproduktion Now have 5D2, 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.2, 50mm 1.8

  • @mcgong Is the 5D2 w/ grip a bit larger than the 7D w/ grip? Or are they pretty much the same size?

  • @michaelcabrera I don't run a grip on my 5D2...I really try to pack more light these days. I do believe the size is roughly the same, if not the 7D is slightly bigger.

  • @mcgong 5D mark ii is slightly taller, width is the same, 7D is a bit heavier.

Why did canon not put the selector on the grip so you could easily choose focus points like nikon did. This still eludes me.

  • So theres 3 packs in total 2 on the grip and 1 on the camera?

  • @aznkato

No there is no battery in the camera, that compartment holds the electronic connection to the camera and the battery hatch.

  • I will buy the grip from another manufacturer. Its not the original Canon grip but its the same thing and most important: CHEAPPER! :) regards.

  • is the battery grip weather proof ?

  • youre Camera looks sexy

  • Canon I use my Canon t2i Battery Grip on the 7D?

  • @jesweeten I don't think it work.

  • @jesweeten no.

  • @jesweeten wtf why would you think a grip for a dinky little camera like the t2i will fit a monster like the 7d...?

  • @jesweeten the 7D is far larger with a totally different body, so no.

  • @jesweeten

    No completley different batteries

  • Very helpful, thanks.

  • im guessing the canon girp isnt weather sealed?

  • Is this Grip made of Magnesium alloy ??????

  • @krisaveli77 no, from rubber

  • what is the model of that small strap for fixing hand?

  • @airdog77 It's an Opteka Hand Strap. Costs about 12 dollars on Amazon. You can also goto the opteka site.

  • I happen to have that same setup, and the bg-e6 on the 5D MK2 . when using the vertical shutter button, it is very easy to fire accidentally. hair-line trigger. this is why i dont use it that way. when i shoot a wedding or a model or something, i like to count to three sometimes before taking the shot. sometimes the shot gets fired on one, or two; it's embarassing.

  • @strobaholic - shutter release cable is your friend.

  • hey can you make a video on how to install the hand strap.

  • @KarmagraphyBM If I have time I will try to make one. Its pretty simple though. It goes on almost like the camera strap.

  • @mcgong im thinking bout getting the Canon hand strap, but i read it doesn't come with instructions..

  • @KarmagraphyBM Sorry for the late response. I just realized I can't make a video for you because I don't have this setup anymore. I'm shooting full frame now, 5D2 with an 85mm 1.2L is my everyday setup now. It really is pretty straight forward on setting up the strap.

  • 7D is a full frame camera silly. I love mine and used the same lens to shoot a wedding. Standard battery lasted 10 hours. I was getting low and it would be nice to have the reserve power.

  • @Slashar100 The 7D is not a Full Frame, its a crop body.

  • @Slashar100 7d is a crop body, not a full frame.. the 5d is a full frame..

  • i got Canon Rebel XSI. Canon 7D is gonna be my next cam

  • thats gonna be my nexy cam

  • How much was the camera+lens?

  • @Recon9143 I can't remember exactly, but I think it was around 3100 for everything including grip.

  • I wish the 7D was a full-frame DSLR...

  • Good review man. Also hansens soda is bomb! That is all

  • I wantzzzzzz one

  • I don't really like this battery grip, it juts out too far at the back, I find it very uncomfortable.

  • @175myles If you have one and don't use it, send it my way. =P

  • @TheKillerGnome, I'm still getting one for my 7D, but I would like to get one custom made, as I like it flush.

  • Perhaps you should show how to attach the grip to the camera and a little less time with the can. It does give you a good idea of it's looks.

  • @Krumkee Connecting it is rather easy. You take the little battery cap off and stick it on...it's like a puzzle, pretty self explanatory once you have one in front of you.

  • super cam and a stunner lens! love it. got flickr?

  • thanks i need this vid man...niiice.

  • @IUSECAMERAS glad it helped.

  • Batt. Grips are good they provide extra support for your hand and double shooting time, when wildlife photoing you really need a grip

  • I think that combo is way too heavy to carry around specially if you will shoot for hours like wedding.

  • Cool, thanks for the vid man, been shooting a 7D for a couple of months, grip is the next step. Had a non-canon grip for my 1000D (I think it's an XSI in the States) but the built quality was shoddy. Going all Genuine from now on. Thanks again

  • i love that LENS...what is it? am sure it fits on 550D... lemme know please.

  • @TheHENDAWGTV Its just a 24-70 2.8L. Workhorse if you are going to be shooting weddings.

  • @mcgong lol you called an L lens "its just" hehe

  • @TheHENDAWGTV that lens is quite expensive, but quite good aswell.

  • Does the 7D have a "program" mode for shooting? My ancient EOS 1 film camera has it. Thanks.

  • how many hours of shooting

    does it add?

  • @jessejubilee I think it could almost double your shoot time. After all, you are adding an additional battery. It depends too on other factors like how many shutter clicks, IS or no IS, etc. There are a lot of advantages to having a grip, but it will add weight and size to a camera.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'll be getting the grip soon.

  • Its just an opteka hand strap. You can get it on Amazon or off Opteka's website. It was around 10 dollars shipped i think. Canon makes one too, but it's over 20 dollars i think. This one also comes with a screw in bracket for the bottom of the camera incase you don't have a battery grip on your camera.

  • hey, whats the hand grip thing you have on the side? I have been looking for one but im not sure what to look fore name wise.

    thanks

  • I thought it was Double A batteries and not Triple A?

  • @xXxmidgexXx DId I say AAA? Sorry I meant to say AA. Thanks for catching this. I will edit the video.

  • @mcgong Okays! xD

  • Dude, thats not the original BG-E7 Grip. Theres no Canon LOGO on the grip. Thats one of the aftermarket grips. Check it out closely.

  • @planetwave2000 Do you own the grip? Apparently you haven't done your research.

  • @planetwave2000 Im sure canon stopped putting the logo on the grips for some reason, im sure i read it somewhere... the E6 has the logo

  • Hehe, I actually went to a 5D2 and haven't looked back since.

  • its about about the nikon d3x sorry get your self 1 u will never go bck to canon and buying grips

  • how long does the battery grip last with the triple A batteries

  • its almost the same thing

  • @3guys1girlandfetus It's actually AA batteries, not AAA batteries. It all depends on what you are doing with your camera and its settings.

  • @3guys1girlandfetus im not 100% certain but I think its 600shots

  • Nice camera and lens. Respect

  • Thanks, I am ordering one as well.

  • quality entertainment...thx man

  • Thanks

  • I have a grip for the 40D, the grip feels very cheap. The buttons and wheel on the grip aren't as good as the buttons on the 40D.

How is the quality of the BG-E7?

  • I thought the quality was pretty good. Its pretty much the same as the 40d though, so if you thought that was cheap, you might think the same of this. Its all subjective though.

  • it gets the job done, I just expected more considering the price you pay for it. The grip here (bg-e7) is 180 euro that's 250 dollars.

  • yeah, I know what you mean. I would look into a Zeikos or Opteka. I think the quality is similar, and the price is about half....they get the job done too.

  • i'm pretty new to photography and i'm thinking of upgradeing to this model and gettin a battery grip. On the nikon website they say adding a battery grip and useing diffrent type of batterys or cards bumps up the fps dose this grip do the same or have i got it wrong ? awnsers would be appreciated

  • That is true, but on this model it doesn't make a difference. It only gives you better grip, longer battery life, and vertical shutter release.

  • im unfamiliar with battery grips. What exactly comes in the box with these? does it include any batteries?

  • no batteries, but the grip. You have to purchase a second battery separately. You can run 1 battery if you like, if are just using the grip...for "grip".

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS :)

  • does the 7d detect the battery level from the opteka's battery grips? or no.

  • I'm sure it does. Does Opteka have a grip out yet?

  • @mcgong Zeikos has a grip out, from my understanding I know generic batteries won't be detected, so I thought it would be the same for generic grips

  • @jchouproductions good to know. I'm thinking about getting a Zeikos for my 5dmkII. I try to use only Canon batteries.

  • May bad. I just saw the Grip and went a little out of control without even seeing the video.lol

  • Where did you get the Hand Sleeve on the side ? Does it come with the camera?

  • Just an opteka grip. Bought off Amazon for 10 dollars.

  • lol, he says it in the video....

  • great review ..

can you tell us, how much cm or inches adds the grip to the camera size? not sure, if it would fit to my bag and i want to have the grip all the time on my camera..

  • I would say it adds about 2 inches to the bottom.

  • at least the 7d's grip looks like it fits better than the other grips.

  • whats the brand of handstrap you have in this video?

  • Opteka. I think I got it for 10 dollars on Amazon. Well worth it.

  • thanks for sharing.

  • there isnt a joystick on the grip to control AF points. Thats a real shame.

  • you don't need to use the joystick to control the AF points. You press the right button (AF button) then move the dial to move the AF points. If you want to change the AF pint type, you press the "M-Fn" button on the front.

  • i second that thanks alot

know one ever dose grip video's

  • Thanks for taking the time!
