So i have downloaded the legacy 7 drum pack, i have installed it but i cant seem to find the sounds anywhere on my ableton, if anyone has had the same problem and you have managed to sort it then please let me know x
@Dubspot: What's happening? This will probably sound like a dumb question, but through your courses do you guys answer the why's of music production, or do I need to go to a sound engineering school? What I mean is this. "If I do things this way why does this happen , such as when you were adjusting parameters for the range in the vocoder. Know what I mean? I tried FullSail to no avail. Yep...found out that I was paying over 50G's for them to tell me the same things I saw on Wikipedia. Yikes!!!
dry snare from the beginning sounds way better than after all his processing at the end. I've seen multiple vids from this company and my conclusion is dubspot = no good
@joshisrad Then you make a tutorial, sprout. DubSpot is good, and the guy that made this tutorial is great. He's not showing you this so you can copy his exact snares. He goes in depth and shows what each of the settings does so that we can fine tune, and such and get a good snare sound that WE like. Damn, you kids are thick.
@TehJizzCakes That you demean the age you perceive of me twice in your post betrays your own insecurity with your teenage immaturity and lack of experience and know-how. "Then why don't YOU do it" is one of the most trite rebuttals used in a debate and is fairly commonly heard from young bucks. I'm not going to give you my sound design tips. You can keep using shit tutorials. But don't get all butthurt over my contempt for Dubspot. You've never listened to a track with this snare in it.
Well if that's what I'm thinking about (I'm newbie myself so if I'm wrong - please don't call me noob or anythin)
Go to the session sector and turn on the switch that looks like a watch (but if you take a closer look, it's basically a note) in the bottom of the clip you need. It's called "arm session recording" Tell me if that helps and whether I was right with your problem or not)
I really think ableton is incredibly awesome, with all its possibilities, but where is the time music like this was made with a real drum kit, without all those effects^^ sometimes I miss that
I wasn't impressed with that snare. It didn't have the punch to it that dubstep snares should have. Snares in dubstep, imho, should really snap/crack. One of the best ways to achieve that is to layer snares and use transient shaping, EQ and some slight reverb effects. A bit of white noise works well to.
Do you only put the effects on the one snare and leave the other the way it is? Because when I try to put an effect on just one snare it goes on both. And also at the end the gate is just muting my sound. Are these problems related?
@beastboy3535 I am in the same situation.. But my gate cuts of all of my sound because the volume of my snare simply isn't loud enough. But how do I fix it so I have a snare drum with effect and one without? :o
@SnubCluster the vocoder is new in 8, make sure your copy of 8 is properly installed and up to date. It should be under Audio Effects > Vocoder at the bottom of the list.
Have you guys seen the Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard workstation from Music Computing? The integrated controller works beautifully with Ableton. Check out the videos on our profile! Follow the link below!
@CthulhuDub you want to check the threshold setting on the gate and make sure that it's not preventing the snare from coming through. If the snare is not louder than the threshold it will be silent.
Not too taxing on the CPU at all. Lives devices are pretty CPU efficient. You can always resample the snare and then throw it back in the drum rack. Hope that helps.
One question though, quite irrelevant to this video but I require the information nonetheless: If you download Live 8 will you still be able to use the old saves you have on Live 7 and will you have to download the entire thing again or is it just an update?
Hey there - do Dubspot have any plans on selling DVD's of the latest round of workshops ? I live in the UK and would never get the time or money to hop over to NYC.... Wouldn't it be better to just add a reverb?

Great tutorial! my snares sound a lot better now!
Also I have a question, does someone at dubspot now how to create hardstyle?
I mean there are a lot of tutorials about it on youtube but its all just not professional and just doesn't sound like anything at all..
And I'm not that advanced yet to know how to program synths and drum machines to make the sound I have in my mind..
If not, its not a problem I also like to make dubstep..
Thanks in advance

Why is is whenever I put a sample into the drum rack it's always quieter than than before I put it in?
Neutr4lNumb3r 4 months ago
@Neutr4lNumb3r by default when you put a sample in the drum rack it's volume is set to -12db, same as with the simpler instrument.

you could just throw those fx on a send channel. instead of using 2 snares. that way you can add those fx to other elements while saving some cpu

What's the point in setting the release for the filter and reverb tail longer than the release on the gate?
shaftahoy 1 year ago
@shaftahoy The idea is to make the reverb extra thick and potent, then cut it in length with the gate.
