It depends on where you are interviewing, this does not reflect all locations. I had two one on one interviews with a model and was asked do different things with each one. If you are interested in a position, go to the location you would be working at and make friends.
ohh shit i was like wtf mac. i tho0ught you meant mac ur talking about some fashion makeup shit. well good luck then. i was wondering how you could get a job at mac no offense
Hey I actually just had my interview with them...and now I have to go back on monday with a model to do a look. So you are saying that they will definitely want you to explain your look on your model and why you chose the colors that you did?
Do you think they would work around a school schedule? I'm working at a grocery store right now, and I hate it! At the same time, I'm currently attending college, and I just want to find a different job that I would actually enjoy doing for the meantime. Thanks a lot for the great tips, and your time:D
PlZzzzz help I just sent in my application and resume. She told me I should get a call this week n there is the freelance stage. Tell me anything more I need to know how exactly to dress how exactly to act n how exactly to answer there qz
I have an interview, its my first one but they said to bring my model and i'll have to do a look on her. I'm surprised I'm doing that step 1st? Have you heard of that?
Did you wear heels that totally covered your feet, or more edgy, open toe/or strappy? and you had no sleeves? Didn't know if I should wear my regular conservative interview outfit or show my arms? I have a really cute black vest? I could just copy you LOL. Thanks! I just subbed to you :)
@AndreaJuliet i wore strappy open toe shoes. i didnt have sleeves, just a vest and a tank top. and usually they do interviews first, but i guess they just want to cut out the bs and see if you can do makeup.
Every time i go into MAC every girl that works there is so bitchy and has an attitude... it really pisses me off. Explains why i never shop there... But u seem nice.
Have you had any cosmetic education before working there what you could write in your application? Because I'm going to end school in 1 year and after that I wanna get into the whole make up artist thing and I don't know what I'll need for an application to get make up artist, schools that help you getting make up artist cost a bunch of money. what do i need to apply for a job as a make up artist?
@lisalovelyfayce i had no experience before i got hired, just a love for makeup. be confident and radiant and your skills should speak for themselves.
@loveteenamarie i thought every mac make up artist has to have experience. Did you get a make up artist training while you worked there? Are you a licensed make up artist now?
Starting off as a freelance for MAC, have you gotten a lot of calls to work? So basically you start off waiting at home for a call. You're pretty much on-call until you can get a position behind the counter and be placed in an actual store right? Sorry, just wanted to make sure I understand all this
@GlamorousThao yea it kinda sucks. and the amount of calls actually depend on how often people call out or how many events are going on. i averaged a few shifts a month, not much, but its a start...
@loveteenamarie okay thanks! if you don't mind me asking are you still on, on-call or have you been placed in a position already. And how long have you been or was on, on-call for? I just wanna know the wait process to see if it's worth quitting a job for. I'm trying to apply for MAC too but if on-call is a long waiting process then I might try something else.
Super helpful, this actually encourages me to interview at MAC. It seems fairly easy, as long as you express yourself creatively through the makeup you do in the interview, and you dress professionally and give the answers that they want. Thanks!
Omg.. congrats to you! Thanks for your informative video! Just what I was looking for. I want to work for Mac one day too and thought I needed some tips! I was wondering... since you said that you're a freelance for Mac, do they give you a week or two advance to let you know they need you to freelance for them? What happens if you can't work on that day? Do you just freelance for a certain Mac store or wherever they want you at?
@aRtzeegurl7 they give you anywhere from a few days notice to a few hours to ask if you can work, depends on upcoming events or if people call out. the more available you show that you are to work, the more you get booked. also, you can give them a list of stores in the area your available to travel to. hope that helps <3
Very Helpful..I have a interview with M.A.C. in a week and wanted some tips...I called a friend of mines who works at a M.A.C. Store and will get with her to help me with my interview also...thanx
thank you sooo much! this helped a ton! :) subscribed! I'm only 15 but I'm defiantly getting a job at mac when i turn 18! i'm not very good with matching foundations to different skin tones, what advice would you give me so i can get better at learning how to match foundation?

A regional manager from mac emailed me and called me for interview in less than 2 weeks. I let her know that I wanted a counter position.
any one has any idea how much they might pay? I live where the minimum wage is 8.25
And I love makeup but I have moderate acne around my chin and cheeks so do you know if they judge on that?
because no matter what I do I can't seem to keep them covered for long I tried everything even a mac concealer. Any tips?
And do I have to put all mac makeup?
