Beautiful art!!! I'm looking to paint some graphic art on bottom of my 17'6 bark sup to hide the 2 dagger fin boxes. Do you sand area first then clear when done?
@RamonKH I always spray the boards with UV resistant acrylic clear coat, and yes that one has been surfed on regularly :) The designs hold up great in the water, as long as you make sure to spray a lot of coats before waxing it. Thanks for watching!
NICE ART WOrk ..Im a Artist also . im drawing on a surfboard and im drawing AZN art kinda like Tattoo style thats what i Love My Style My ART....i Have Some pics you can take a look at an see what u think i dont a have it on youtube or face book... but l will Soon. i have a myspace page an you can take a look an see wht u think of my Art work My display name is ROCKY'S ART 808 Hope you guys Love it..
marry me..!! ha great job i did one for my brother you chould check it out, currently working on a sketch for my new board, good way to mix the colors
Thanks! You can use Acetone and Naptha to get the wax residue off (and acetone if you make a mistake). At the end I spray it with a clear acrylic spray
They're called Posca Paint Pens and you can order them online if you can't find them locally. They are water-based and I'm not sure about the other ingredients because the writing is all in Japanese. I sprayed my board (the blue/green flower one in the beginning) with acrylic clear coat to seal it...so far it has stayed on for a month with the wax and sand and everything
Great video! Love the art, but I highly recommend you get some nitrile gloves if you are going to do that finger smearing of the ink, they are like latex gloves but much better. The ink contains solvents and toxins you definitely do not want and they are absorbed through the skin. -- Your Friendly Molecular Biology Scientist Who Did A Lot of Research on Chemicals.

@rmoran113 Yes definitely sand with fine sandpaper first and then spray with a clear coat when done. I will be doing a How To video soon. Thanks! :)

Did you put a cover on the board after you were finished painting on it. Have you surfed on it since? and does the paint stay on ok? Thanky you.

Nice video, that is a good idea of using your finger to blend the paint, it looks like it works really well, thanks for sharing your video
javkiss 1 year ago
Thanks for sharing! The blending is really cool! Is it a white posca pen or a kind of solvent/blender pen?
span24 1 year ago
@span24 Just a white pen...it blends pretty well but you have to work fast before it dries. Thanks for watching!

Hey pussycat, I really like the finger smudge technique.
Check out a few drew brophy vids, I reckon his style would really benefit from your finger smudge idea.
Love your work.... :)

Can we get the name of those pens again? Are they water-based or oil-based? Labeled permanent or waterproof?

You should get an air brush too. They're great for gradients, but avoid the cheesy 80's look.
Oh and your music is WAY louder than your speaking.
