The cup of tea tactic does work well, but I have found that the roll yourself a ciggy tactic is just as good if not better. The make a bacon butty tactic is also worth a bash! :)

@barringtonblake1 hi nick you should find plenty of barbel in the pond.. try using a hair rigged paracetamol or maybe cut a bar of soap into chunks and use that. this technique works brilliantly and also cleans the fish while you catch it. Tight lines!

Iam off to Coalport tommorrow to have my third attempt this year for an Ironbridge Severn Barbel,may try upstream to by the rapids,wish me luck kids,I caught loads last year from all the spots Ive tried this year,whats happening

lol you are so right about the tea part i have coffee i go to pour and have a good drink and then your rod goes and you grabb the rod so fast you totally forget about your coffee and spill it all down yourself great video

just come back from a 48 hour sess on the wye in belmont hereford,had a cracking 48 i banked 12 fish 9 barbel the biggest being 14 an half pound and the rest chub biggest chub was 3.2 so not bad,nice blog tho stew mate,

love your video's, very helpful. i am just setting up to go on my first barbel fishing session, but still dont know what i am realy doing! its a lot different from carp fishing. i live in shropshire, near the severn. is there fish all the way down the severn? i live next to a secluded unfished bit but i am not sure how to go about things? any advice would be welcome

I agree , though it's usually when the Mrs rings the mobile. I've started ringing her more often while fishing to induce bites and it's worked 2 or 3 times !

im off to bridgenorth 1st week of the season, cant wait, on a mission aswell cos blanked last time after 8 hours fishing. later to find out, the the dam in wales got opened a couple of days before so the water was freezing so very hard to fish! nice fish mate
