Monzon did go for the ball and in fact did make contact with it so from that point of view it should not have been a foul. Of course Klinsman who was known for dramatics did exagerate it with his diving and theatrics
@truvianni Monzon did not touch the ball, but had his hand to lever on Klinsman in order to try unsuccessfully to reach the ball again impeding Klinsmann.
KIinsmann made the most of it like every player would, but this is a penalty as all the referee could see was an obvious fouil for being all over the forward.
This same decision could and would be made across grounds all over the world irrespective of corruption or not.

@norsunny not really because 9 of Germany's goal were scored in their first two matches. First against a Yugoslavian team which could not have been playing any worse and then against a team from Saudi Arabia which even Yugoslavia managed to beat by four.

It's unfortunate Argentina lost, but they should have attacked much more in the 2nd half.
Of course, they had a few players which were suspended and had injuries which didn't help their cause.
