  • I don't want to even begin to think what the heart must feel like at that given ttime.

  • This is my favourite scene of the movie

  • holy frick james mcavoy <33333333

  • at 1:30 i was like oh sweet lord Robbie looks so sad. i wanted to cry too.

  • why does she say 'sorry'?

  • @repn87 I completely agree with you there.

  • I lol-ed when I saw "Have a Guiness when you're tired" at the back of the bus when he's running.

  • this movie is the one which made me adore james mcavoy, such a tallent

  • what does he say at 1:55 !!

  • omg i cant look it without crying.. :')

  • God, his eyes are such an ICE BLUE .

I want to stair at it all day .

  • omg every time i watch this scene my heart melts into a puddle! I absolutely LOVE him!

  • This film was so cheated at the Oscars, especially McAvoy. Everything he does in this film is so sincere.

  • this is truly some of the best acting

i've ever seen! thank you so much for uploading this

  • OMG HIS EYES !!!!

  • dearest cecilia, dearest cecilia,cecilia....................i love that.i could get lost in this scene 4ever.so romantic and beautiful.

  • what does he say after she says that she has to be back at the hospital in half an hour?

  • @Swizle13 'oh god' i think.he doesnt want her to leave so soon.hes suddenly overcome with emotion in think.

  • @Swizle13 "oh god, is that..." (all the time we're going to have?)

  • @cassyroxursox It's heartbreaking isn't it! Beautiful scene.

  • I would like incorporate this video,please!

  • heartbreaking...

  • does this scene happen in the book? or is it another scene briony made up (like the confrontation scene

  • this happened.

  • @movi3srock

Briony didn't make it up. It happened. This is the last time they saw each other though.

  • the most gorgeous scene in a movie ever!!!

  • i love James McAvoy! :D

  • i love it when robbie's hand fell down when cecilia touched him, somehow it's very sad!!

  • what did robbie say at 1:54??

  • i think he said " you cant" or "oh god"

basically he doesn't want her to go

  • "oh God, that's.."

  • @lucy15wa I think he says a mixture of you can't and oh god.

  • great film.

  • 2:00 to 2:17 what did robbie stare at?

  • i think he was staring at the old ladies, tried to help

  • just realized that he actually stared at the old lady remembering his mom

  • yup its so bitter-sweet and the same scene happened to me 3 years ago

  • I forgot, is this scene before or after Dunkirk?

  • Before Dunkirk.

  • love this scene. watch it at the movies, its even more sad..somehow

  • the most beautiful scene, so well done! Can't get it out of my head. I know when I watch it I will cry, but I can't help but watch it. It's so bitter-sweet.

  • omg thank you SO much for posting this!!

  • what?

  • when he mouths "i love you" there at the end I just almost die. Its so beautiful/tragic. *sigh*

  • omg i know every time i watch it i just start tearing up

  • why does he say "oh god"?

  • i think it was cause he though they had more time. He wasn't prepared to only have 30 minutes with her.

  • keira was good but james was amazing

  • i read the book.

hes staring off because he can't look into her eyes without feeling some sense of pain, and a rememberance of what happened the night he was arrested and falsely accused.

  • ok just checking. They pan the camera shot over to the empty table and the women, and I didn't know if it had any connontation or if it was just him breaking the moment.

  • I have a question. What is robbie staring off at after he says "oh god"? It seems as if he is noticing somethin apart from breaking the oddness of the moment. I am assuming it is the 2 women not having husbands, but I am not really sure. Maybe somebody who has read the book would know.

  • those beautiful blue eyes

  • omg i say this movie and it was amazing!!!!!!! it was sooooo sad!!!! i thought the acting was terrific!! but i must warn you if you havnt seen it yet when you do see it, afterwards you feel kind of depressed cuz its sooo sad thru out the whole thing!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my fave scenes from the movie!

  • He has such a way with love movies...same in becoming jane....he makes me wish i was an actress lol

  • 01:22 - 03:15, again, I don't think I have seen such great acting as this, in a very long time, especially McAvoy... he is absolutely amazing, I can truly feel his pain. Knightley is good as well, but nothing compared to McAvoy.. in my opinion.

  • You always know when u are watching REALLY good actors, because u can really FEEL the love between them-its raw.

Look at the way the look at each other from 0:40 to 0:47.

The pain in their eyes, the look of longing for each other, the hurt.

Wow, these two do an AWESOME job of portraying this.

    Anyone agree with me?

  • Joe wright does an excellent job of portraying the scene and choosing actors to portray it. You get the sense of joy, uneasiness, and the tension of not being able to believe what stands before them after such a long time.

  • .. so sad!!!

  • i'm pretty sure the tearoom is my favorite seen. that and dunkirk.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS SCENE!!!! very touching what they say... especially.... if we know... it was uncosciusly their last meeting ever... " white-blue house at the sea coast" at the postcard... and they never met again alive... ******************* seeing this first time at cinema thought it very pretty, re-seeing it again, knowing the story's end, made my eyes wet... thanks for uploading. love it.
  • Or maybe he says "You can't".

  • I think he says "Oh God!"

This is the best acting I have ever seen!

  • McAvoy in this scene is probably the best acting I've seen in a very long time. And I think he says: "Oh god" as well, I can truly feel his pain. :s

  • what does he say after she says i've got to get back to the hospital

  • Oh God. If you watch the DVD with subtitles it tells you and thats what he says. Because they talk so fast you can't actually tell sometimes!

  • Good idea. I watched it with subtitles........he says "you can't..."

  • I think this is my favorite part of the movie. I looked through like every Atonement video on YouTube after I saw the movie at the theater for that restaurant scene and couldn't find it, so I'm so glad I got to see it again now.

  • Thanks for posting this. What an amazing scene. Robbie is so hopelessly in love.
