It does kind of look like that but know it is a full layout. I was a gymnast and coached womens all around for yrs. Love the sport it was my first true love and I would love to coach a gymnast to the Olympics and think that I can do it god willing I will one day be able to open my own Gymnastics school.. And yes she is incredible to be that age and tumble at the level if her dance was good no one would beat her on floor

as a 33 year old---- amazing, so, my question is, now that it's been so many years SINCE she has trained under the Soviet system, is that why she made errors on basically all her landings (and form issues on her double full)? I hate to be a cynic, but I remember a Chuso that stuck basically everything back in "her day"
I don't know why the judge raised the flag...she clearly wasn't out of bounds. They didn't end up taking a deduction for it so I guess it got straightened out.
Her artistry was much better when she was training in the Soviet system. If she could find a good choreographer and dance instructor, with her amazing tumlbing, she could be more competitive on floor.
She's such an inspiration. It seems that the older she gets, the more explosive her tumbling gets. She proves that a gymnastics career doesn't have to end at 18. So glad she medaled in Beijing. Well deserved.
Amazing that she can still pull out those difficult tumbling passes. Although... I think she had more grace with her dance when she was 16 at the 91 Worlds. Good for her though!!
Yes, and the difference was really made with her difficulty on vault and with a superior level of difficulty it was clear.
Lady
And you will now see, she's one of the only women to perform this "stunt"/figure in her first pass, in fact, one of the only one in the world to do it, we'll see it later, and Michel will describe it to us with his experience, haha.
She participated in 3 Olympic Games. She has an incredible story, she was Russian, then got Uzbek nationality (after the collapse), and she now has a German nationality, since Germany was the country that could save her son who was sick with severe "Lucimia", and to thank them, she simply decided to match-up with the German team. Her son's name is Alisher, 8 years old. So she's European Champion on Vault, which we could of expected right Michel?
"Here's Oksana Chusovitina, what we didn't tell you earlier during vault is that she's somewhat the grand-mother of these European Championships, she is 33 years old! 33 years old, i'm not sure if you can imagine what it's like to martyrize/torture your body everyday, 6 hours per day. 33years! It's has been years and years that we see her compete with her impassive figure...she rarely has a smile this Oksana Chusovitina.
She is amazing. Although the choreography wasn't that great she is a very good tumbler and has amazing physical skills. After all this is gymnastics not dancing so the technical difficulty is the most important.I think in female gymnastics they put too much emphasis on the artistic side rather than on the technical difficulty. She is an example to all those female gymnasts who give up gymnastics at 21 years old.
Her tumbling is still great after all these years, yet she has absolutely no control over her landings, and her face and expression in her dance is pretty much non-existent. Kudos to her for still getting out there, but it was such a flat routine.
She will be the first gymnast to collect social security while still competing. Ha ha! Amazing. She is as old as some of the judges. Kim Zmeskal is the same age and is an international judge. Must be weird for Kim to be judging one of her biggest rivals.
hmm was the really out of bounds? That's hard to believe or maybe it's a different angle of view. It's so cool to see her compete a G skill, but her dance need to improve and overall she just needs to be a bit more polished for her to become a medal contender, she definitely has the moves though:) Why doesn't she ever do a triple twist?
I love Okzana, she is so brave and wonderfull but this routine is filled with deductions... anyway at 30 she still rocks, you are supposed to at 30, jajaja
I loved Izbasa's routine but i think Chusovitina should have won gold here.Could'nt believe my eyes, Oksana is over 30 years old and she still performs amazingly. If she gets to Beijing she'll be a penta-olympian.Maybe the only penta in any sport in Olympic history.
No one can deny Chusovitina's many, many accomplishments, and she deserves every gymnasts respect! However, her tumbling is a bit sloppy in the air and her landings are not very clean. Those are going to be deductions. Overall, she doesn't dance so much as pose. That will also affect her score. Finally, her leaps, while dynamic, don't showcase her flexibility.
Chusovitina is a world-class gymnast, and AWESOME, but she shouldn't have won this event.
Pauline Davis- Thompson competed in her 5th Olympics in Sydney 2000 and had a fairy tal ending winning the 4x100m Gold with her Bahamian team mates. She also won the silver medal in the 200m behind Marion Jones. The thing is, now she will be given the gold after Jones admitted to taking drugs.
Steve Redgrave is another Pent- Olympian. Also won gold on his 5th appearance. Maybe it's a good sign for Oksana??!
izbasa is typical Romanian, BORING. Chuso did much difficult floor, shuold have beaten Sandra. That's why i never liked the Euros, Romania will always overscore
It starts at 2:29 :)

Not complaining or anything - but did you really need to upload 2:40 of previous coverage before her routine began?
