does your engine knock when it is cold? have you put fords inductive heat flash on, i heard that works well. 50 isnt that cold, fire that baby up in 0*, thats what i have to do sometimes, ouch!
Did you have to use the glow plugs? I had to move a F250 with the 6.0L PSD on a 90* day, and it didn't even attempt to start after 20 sec. After 1 cycle of the plugs, it started right up. My 6.9L was the same way. At 35*, I don't even have to wait for the grid heaters on my 12v Cummins.
You know that 50º isn't cold, right?

50*F! Thats still warm enough for shorts and t-shirt! Get that truck into 0*F weather, and *forget* to plug it in for the night! Thats a cold start!
