hey, amazing clips & pics, I have been planning a Nairobi - Cape Town - Luanda trip. Just wondering do you guys know the condition of roads and general safety going from Namibia to Angola? thx
@GermanRasta When we visited Angola in 2008, the Roads were almost undriveable. Namibian Roads are fine. However the Chinese were rebuilding the roads throughout the country and they may be better now. You should check with someone who has visited Angola recently. More difficult was getting an Angolan Visa.
@geovalue thanks for the info though! Was getting the angolan visa possible at the border or you had to visit the embassy in eg Windhoek b4? cheers! good luck with your future traveling!
Roads in Namibia are safe and good. Most are dirt so drive slowly. Angolan roads were a nightmare. Potholed with landmines on the side. Chinese have been rebuilding furiously so they could be much better now. (We drove through Angola in 2008.)
i envy u guys, i am from Botswana, and wish i could join u guys through such an excitting advnture..pliz pliz next tym u come through may i kindly be notified, hence we make an expedition convoy..i really envy what u guys experienced..so how did u locate the Camp sites, or were u spending nights in hotels?
One day I will own a Land Cruiser. I have 2004 crew cab Tundra with 70000 k on it mint shape. What are my chances to make it trough a trip of that caliber ?
Hi, just curious, being from Canada, did you take with you a North American spec. 80-series or did you find it in Africa ? I know they come with diesel/manual transmission there.
@mo204254 we bought the land cruiser in South Africa. We actually purchased the land cruiser over the internet from a seller in South Africa while we were still in Canada. It was manual and gas not diesel.
@1gnatius3000 There is much more to see and do on the East side of Africa and most people travel the Cape to Cairo route. Few venture to the West Coast, also visas are more difficult to get for countries on the West
It was indeed a great experience. Africa is incredible. The 80 series was awesome..took us where ever we wanted to go. Too bad we had to sell it. Hope you get to drive across Africa one day. Go for it.
I couldn't have asked for a better adventure, I would die happy if I got to do this. Very nice video, I have an FJ62 and I hope one day I will get to see things you have seen.
Ostriches getting laid....LOL. I'm assuming they meant to say ostriches are laying eggs.

Cool video!! :)
Looks like you had a ball.
Our plan is depart early 2011 UK -> SA. In a 90 series Landcruiser. (Prado Colorado)
However west coast route :)

We did have a ball. Exhilarating, inspiring, terrifying..and many other adjectives.
West Coast is much more difficult than the east coast route and there is a lot less to see and do.
Good luck and have a ball
