If you read both volumes of the DMC 4 novelization, everything you need to know including startling secrets and revelations are included in it along with the whole DMC4 game plot which fills in all the gap. If you wanna read it then you're gonna have to read a translated version by fans online. So far they haven't localized it for the US or EU which kinda sux provided that I'm a huge DMC fan.

I think a good idea for the next DMC would be to focus it on sparda himself. I mean he is major charecter in every game yet we actually know very little about him. A game set around spardas story would be pretty sweet and could fill some major plotholes.
I would say no because it really gives alway the whole story and the mysterious Sparda. The legend is up to the players to figure it out. I would say DMC5 will focus more on Nero because theres little information about him. Never know DMC5 could be all 3 (Vergil, Dante, and Nero) tied in one story. Hopfully no flash backs on previous games.

But by new developers and the new developers have destroyed the franchise, they have rebooted the story-line and put a new 15-16 year old Dante, linking up to his past, but still the game did not need a reboot i kinda wanted to ahead with the story just the way it is, because DMC4 left alot of mystery about Nero e.g. Why does he have Sparda's blood?... Why did the yamato get resurrected by his hands? and why is his devil form similar to vergils?.
@sh4d0w2k9 DmC isnt DMC5, nor is a reboot, its just a redesign of the DMC. Probably Capcom don't know what route to move the DMC franchise and decided to "westernized" the franchise to appeal the western crowds. DMC4 was a disappointment, but sold the most out of all the DMC games. DmC is a pre-prequel, the "origin" of Dante, basically another side of Dante's past. Again, DmC is not DMC5, Capcom never said DmC is DMC5.

It hints that Corrupt Vergil (or Nelo Angelo Vergil) was in Fortuna Island at some point and gave some power to Nero.
When you read the information on Bianco, or Alto Angelos in 4, it said they were developed from fragments of a demon codenamed "the black angel", which is roughly what "Nelo Angelo" translates to. It doesn't say flat out, but apparently Vergil injured Nero and gave him some of his power in the process, hence the way his devil trigger looks.
@darksk8ter12 Nero held Yamato, vergil's sword, that sealed Vergil's demonic powers. Nero does not have to power to turn into a demon without Yamato, so, more or less, he turns into Vergil's demon form.

Caydinho knows what he's talking about. Just one thing, In 4, Nero says that Dante "just got out of hell so he has to take in the sights" when asked why Dante would be bothering the Sparda worshipers. So, I think 4 is the latest one.
Vergil becomes Nelo Angelo and Mundus' servant, the demon with the big sword from the first DMC, after Dante defeats him he drops the other side of their mother's amulet, with that he can unleash the full power of the Sparda sword, something Arkham couldn'd do because he wasn't a son of Sparda.

@JZgames Crapcom ran out of ideas for Dante, even though his "journey" hasn't ended yet, we pretty much know almost everything about him whereas if Crapcom decide to create a game about Nero, Trish, Vergil, or Lady, it would bring up some back story about those characters. As I said before Devil May Cry isn't always about Dante.

wait...vergil said i need more power! when nero's arm changed, he kept hearing a voice saying...i need more power. that means when nero held yamato, he had vergil inside him? anyone like to explain to me?

It hints that Corrupt Vergil (or Nelo Angelo Vergil) was in Fortuna Island at some point and gave some power to Nero.
When you read the information on Bianco, or Alto Angelos in 4, it said they were developed from fragments of a demon codenamed "the black angel", which is roughly what "Nelo Angelo" translates to. It doesn't say flat out, but apparently Vergil injured Nero and gave him some of his power in the process, hence the way his devil trigger looks.

@darksk8ter12 Nero held Yamato, vergil's sword, that sealed Vergil's demonic powers. Nero does not have to power to turn into a demon without Yamato, so, more or less, he turns into Vergil's demon form.

Caydinho knows what he's talking about. Just one thing, In 4, Nero says that Dante "just got out of hell so he has to take in the sights" when asked why Dante would be bothering the Sparda worshipers. So, I think 4 is the latest one.

Vergil becomes Nelo Angelo and Mundus' servant, the demon with the big sword from the first DMC, after Dante defeats him he drops the other side of their mother's amulet, with that he can unleash the full power of the Sparda sword, something Arkham couldn'd do because he wasn't a son of Sparda.

@jeasyallday lol, its strange how Dante is like always cocky and full of himself and he even told vergil that i just dont like you in the first battle, but in the end when vergil was about to fall, Dante wanted to help him and then cried later. that was kind of a little bit out of character dont you think?

Nope, it's 3-1-4-2, the story of the 4th one takes place before the 2nd one and after the first one, Trish can be played as a secret character on the second one, besides, Dante gets stuck in hell in 2nd one, the 5th one should be where he gets out.

technically virgil didn't die he was corrupted by the POD and turned into a major enemy in DMC1 i think he was called Nero Angelo or something different sword and look but he dropped his pendent when dante beats him the last time in 1 the only thing i don't get is how did their mother die all they learn is that he lost both a mother and brother to the darkness was she the priestess that arkhm mentioned

Vergil appears to have died in DMC1, which canonically is after DMC3. They could always bring him back, but I'm not sure there's going to be a DMC5.
